Igbos had a more democratic way of governing themselves. Thats why to this day, Igbos dont revere kings, have no political kings, and only have cultural kings

The hausas had a highly centralized system of kingship through emirs that made it really easy for the colonialists to govern or administrate them.

The Yorubas had a more democratic and less centralized system with the oba and council of rulers.

Even though the igbos didn't start with a kingship system pre colonialism recently though they have been a lot of cases where they try to establish kingdoms/kings in domains where they dominate or are plenty even outside their domains.

An example is the recent "king of igbos" title that caused controversy in Ghana!

You people don't get it. Igbos dont have political Kings, they only have cultural Kings. Igbo kings dont rule. The person in Ghana is nothing but the cultural King of Igbos in Ghana, he does not rule over anyone. So where is this Kingdom in Ghana? In the air?

The people who had political kings were Hausas and Yorubas who were waging war, fighting everywhere to take over other people's lands and rule them
