As at the year 2022, a ton of PET bottles is 300k.

Why do you think both hausa scavengers and all these waste disposal trucks are competing for those bottles.

Money all the way is what they are making on it. It's such a lucrative business now.

These plastics can be recycled and turned into valuable products. These particular plastics is what I am currently using for a grant awarding project.

Waste is wealth!!!. You yourself can be an instrument of change and contribute to a carbon-free society.

He buys and sells directly to the companies that recycle in tons.

Dirty businesses often overlooked is where the money usually is!

On a serious note, they’re being recycled but we don’t know where the recycling plants are😂

There are companies in Lagos that pay people for plastic, after which they clean it before selling it to big-scale recyclers to convert to pellets before exporting or selling to big bottling companies in Nigeria. However, it is important to note that not all plastics qualify for this conversion, owing for several reasons such as the degree of dirt or the type of plastic. That is why these middle-men plastic operations attempt to purchase the plastic from households before they get soiled.

A business you don't know, you don't know. Mostly all of us wants a white collar, blue collar jobs where we can dress well couples with emoluments that follows such job.


Only if you know the cash out these boys do in such business, you will marvel. If you get to the inside, you will make a kill.

Come to Alomaja Ibadan, and see where it is been converted into other plastic and PVC products

Na money u dey see so oo. A kilogram costs 300 naira here in Calabar. Company price is between( 600-800) depending on the company sha. They are used for making shirts, industrial ropes for tying bales of clothes , and many more.
I know men that cash out millions from this every other week. No be play o

I am curious, how are they grinded? Any idea? I am doing a research on plastics recycling, and size-reduction aspect is a challenge.
