Currently, as long as Nigeria is doing what is worth doing, we don't really send anybody's GDP. Thanks

Well said. Truth is our GDP has often been overstated in dollar terms because the dollar rate was a discounted rate not the real market rate.

For instance in May 2015 the official rate was 167. The market rate was 197 so our gdp in dollars was actually $484B not $572B

This GDP and inflation is one of the stark evidences of the incompetence of this demonic APC.
How can you take a country from single digit inflation to over 30% in 10 years?!! Even Mugabe was not that bad
How can you more than half the GDP of a country in 10 years when you're not a band of locust?
Actually they are!!

All courtesy of President Tinubu,no other Nigerian President dead or alive, has ever done all of these...

Egypt is in debt with IMF.
Nigeria doesn't owe IMF shishi. cheesy

Nigeria has best tech city in the world 2025.

Nigeria Technical institutions are free. They live in school free. They eat free food. They even collect #22,500 every month.
Egypt doesn't come close.

Old pensioners get free medical treatment in Nigeria.
Egypt where art thou?

Nigeria spent about $2.01bn on external debt servicing between January and April 2025, marking a 50 per cent increase compared to the $1.33bn recorded during the same period in 2024.22

While Egypt paid approximately $13.4 billion in foreign debt service. This included $1.86 billion in interest payments and $11.49 billion in principal repayments. Egypt is also the largest African debtor to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), with outstanding credit totaling approximately SDR 8.63 billion as of March 31, 2025. This represents nearly one-third of the continent's top 10 IMF debts, according to Intelpoint.

Go figure the way Egypt is crawling in debt.
South Africa is owing 5 times the debt of Nigeria.

Economy don stabilize or not grin

Re: Nigerian GDP Vs Egypt GDP Trend (photo) by grandstar(m): 7:35pm On Aug 18, 2025
Is Nigerian GDP really less than $200bn?

Nigeria over a period of 8 months imports goods and services worth $40bn. Over 12 months, that would amount to $60bn. How can the country'a GDP be $180bn with imports of $60bn.

Even if we choose to use a ratio of 1:5 export to GDP ratio, we would have $300bn, and that 1:5 is a conservative figure.

It is the devaluation of the Naira that has brought about the slash in GDP size. Let's say the Nigerian economy had a GDP valued in Naira at 250 trillion Naira and the exchange rate was $1-N500, that would give us $500bn. Devalue the Naira to 1,500 and the figure drops to $166bn. You can now see the problem.

This is what is causing the distortion.

We import a lot but produces nothing. A lot of companies has folded and productivity decline. Farmers can't farm successfully in the north n south and remember agriculture is a largest employer of labor.
.

What time did Nigeria devalued the currency? Because before then GDP has been going down.

Its unfortunate that apc came and half the GDP

The pictorial below the economic stability Tinubu is achieving. It is like sending your business from a profit of $572Billion to $187b. Simply put, someone burying himself in a hole and create a sitting room there and be shouting "I have stabilized as I am not being buried further".
To sound economists, Stability means digging yourself from the pit you fell into and stay where you were originally.

Stop misleading people here

Egypt's inflation rate is 10% and is dropping. Nigeria's inflation rate is around 30%

There's 100% access to electricity in Egypt. Nigeria is about 60% which is even epileptic

Literacy rate in Egypt is 80%. In Nigeria it's 60%

Life expectancy is higher in Egypt than Nigeria

Childbirth mortality rate is better in Egypt than Nigeria.

Nigeria is far behind Egypt.
