This new Alaafin brought war with him to the throne. He wants to recover the influence and authority which the Alaafin of the old wielded. Unfortunately, in this age, the traditional monarchical authorities are under the control of elected politicians who now have the powers to enthrone and dethrone.

The current nationally recognised preeminence of Ooni of Ife cannot be removed by this gra gra by the new Alaafin. Yes, the history books have the enviable tales of the rise and fall of great OYO EMPIRE but we are in a different period now. He needs to be less confrontational as he is painting himself more of a THUG on the throne than a royal father.

Everyone had Army, language, chiefs in their respective domains before being annexed into Oyo empire. Egba, Owo, etc had their distinct languages before adoption of the Oyo empire's language we call Yoruba till today. All armies fell to Alaafin, the supreme head of Oyo empire who had full control of the army, imposed taxes, Regents/ chieftains, even a common bible on the entire land.

Let Ooni limit his political patronage to the Aso rock jests for their Political humours they like to indulge in. Let him not bring that Political patronage to the traditional arena by attempting what his fathers have never done.

Some people are instigating the Alaafin against Ooni in order to cause commotion in Yorubaland. The two kings can work together setting aside their royal ego. Unity and development should be paramount in royalty.

All these kings should only give chieftains titles for their kingdoms, not the whole of Yorubaland. Such titles could be given by an association of obas, not a single king.

This Alaafin needs to take heed, clashing with Oonirisa may put him into serious crisis. No matter how great and rich a child becomes, he not be greater than the throne of his ancestors.

This ego and self glorification does not have a place in our country and it is sad, it can only be heard in the south where 2 revered kings will call out or undermine the other to the detriment of the descendants from both kingdoms.
Fighting because of ephemeral positions should be condemned in its totality.
I recall the same supremacy fights disintegrated the 2 kingdoms during the reigns of their predecessors and yet same is repeating itself again.
The last transited kings would have righted their wrongs if they were given second chances to do so. This is not just a threat but a show of power which can be revoked by a single pronouncement the governors of the affected states.

And does this make sense to you? You agreed that Yorubas come from Ife and you're saying Alaafin is supreme authority? Over who? No Alaafin had ever disrespected Ooni apart from Adeyemi III and this current one. Alaafin is being rude to the throne and graves of his ancestors. He needs to take heed.

The Ooni of Ife is the custodian of Yoruba cultural heritage and regarded as the spiritual head of the Yoruba nation. That is the respect Ypruba people worldwide regardless of geography, have for him, with a believing Ile-Ifr as the ancestral home of Yorubas. He has the unoffi ial influence by virtual of his cultural and spiritual significance to the Yoruba nation, to appoint anyone to a role in the Yoruba nation.

On the other side, the Alaafin of Oyo has historically significance as the most powerful ruler in Yoruba history, with an empire spreading beyond Nigeria. However, that political influence has earned over the years and he is just a symbol of history. He does not resonate with the Yoruba nation the way the Ooni does. How many Yoruba in diaspora.amd across countries will invite Alaafin and to what purpose? He has no cultural or spiritual significance to the Yoruba nation.
