Former Juventus and Napoli coach Luciano Moggi has demanded for heavy suspensions and not just fines to players and coaches who fail to respect their contracts in Serie A.

Moggi made examples of Ademola Lookman and coach Simone Inzaghi as players and coaches who have not respected their contracts.

The coach said there is an urgent need to restore sanity in the Italian league that is now going through “managerial confusion”.

“Our football is going through a managerial confusion. There are no more rules, ideas are starting to run out, as well as money,” Moggi said in his regular column in Libero

“For example, it’s no longer clear whether the clubs or their employees are in charge, the players who, when it suits them, don’t respect their contracts.

“Some players, in order to be sold early to a team they like, perhaps don’t respond to club calls, even presenting medical certificates, if necessary.

“This was the case with Koopmeiners last year, and it’s the case with Lookman this year.

“At this point it is legitimate to ask what purpose long-term agreements serve.

To curb this phenomenon, it would be enough to provide heavy suspensions to those who don’t respect their contracts.

“The usual fines are not enough, because they are easily cushioned.”

Luciano Moggi should calm down and leave our Ademola Lookman alone. Rules and constitutions can be flexible, unrigid and broken. A player should be allowed to choose any club he/she wants to play for and leave whenever they desire. Peace

Terms signed by lookman should be followed to the letter. Lookman can't sign a contract and state order wise. Lookman In clear term denied signing a contract barring him of Italian clubs. For me rules are made and should be followed to the letter. Lookman is learned to d rules before signing

A club may want to sell off a player before his contract expires
Or a player may want to leave before his contract expires.

In both cases there should be mutual agreement, which boils down to effective dialogue & negotiation.

He is right, players need to respect their contracts or find a peaceful route to force an exit

I have always been wary of Nigerians and their press, the way they exacerbate situations around Nigerian players having issues with their clubs.
Ademola Lookman should have approached this issue more responsibly and maturedly since you are still under contract with the club, irrespective of other agreements.
Lookman should stop listening to Nigerians, and avoid their hateful and toxic push, the way they pushed Osimhen into football oblivion (Turkey).

Moggi should be fair enough to also ask Newcastle to punish Isak. He likely forgot to give the same advice to Sporting Lisbon when Gyokeres was protesting and boycotting training… smh

There's a reason it's called a contract. If you feel anyone has breached it, sue them. You can't keep disrespecting someone and expect them not to look for where they'll be appreciated.
