Who is supposed to be in the possession of your NIN number,INEC number and BVN.
It can only be you.
And possibly where u submit your privets data for verifications.

I am a programmer. We use API daily.
And that is the only secured interface that NIMCs can use to share NONE sensitive part of your NIN data to the public whole world for verification. The non sensitive data is for verification purpose.

The traffic at their office became unbearable for just to get get the none sensitive data slip. They just had to put it out on the cloud to license partners for easy access.

If you use your NIN to register any website online, your NIN is outside like that!

Do you know that as popular as Facebook is, hackers do clone Facebook. Then they’ll be sending the link to people! Anybody that mistakenly click and register would have his/her info stolen... FBI is trying their best tho, but these hackers seems to be too much!

Nigerians needs to be careful with the way they put their info online. Especially, those people wey like to register into different loan apps that’s not authorized by FG... Any hacker can design a loan app just to recruit your info..

Technology is good, but these are some of the disadvantages of technology! USA have been battling with this issue for years cuz they’ve been technologize for long..

It is left for the police,civil defense,EFCC and other agencies to retrieve this data and document is at their own respective central database ; base on the crime committed by any individual.
And if such individual is not having NIN number the security agency then profile the person and register a new NIN for the person and then profile the individual on the central crime database with his crime description for future retrieval.

If you don’t keep your NIN number,BVN number and and Voters ID number privately. Then you are responsible for any out come you get.
Not NIMCs.
NIMCs gave it to you privately.
Hope you know that when you commit a crime ;
Your BVN can be blacklisted completely from transacting in Nigeria financial system.
So stop putting your private numbers on anyhow website or app.

NIN number use to be part of sensitive data. But how do u retrieve the data without the NIN number ?
That is how the NIN number can not be classify under sensitive part. Because the person will first of all get hold to your NIN

There has to be a policy framework that guides where and how you can collect citizens data, minimum standards for where it can be stored (minimum levels of protection) and who and the requirements for how it can be passed on to 3rd parties and for what purpose. Do And for those 3rd parties there must also be guidelines.

For anyone worth his salt in the IT industry these are basics.

Again the buck stops at the ministry of ICT. Is there a DATA policy document, is there effective monitoring and compliance? Has there any sensitization to the public on how to protect their data and red flags when visiting sites and giving them your data?

Because I don’t know how a government data storage or even any organization can sanction its data being accessed by a third party with a blank terms and conditions on its website if there is as govt policy and they have been given training across govt agencies. Did they not vet the website of their partner?

Most of the organizations that want you to bring your NIN slip just wanted to be sure that the number you are giving them is same thing on the slip.
So I think NIMCs later re-introduce the display of the NIN number on the slip.

FIJ is just being petty with the case. What they are doing is called verification. Any Nigerian record should be verifiable by and verification licence is given to selected organisations.

It seems like they are paid actor to condemned the new NIMC DG
