No. It is for Obaluaye also known as Sopona.
He is the orisa of illness and healing, representing the duality of suffering and its cure.

Don't mind them. They will never understand Yorubas because they continue to view our lives from their own perspective.

Take me a Yoruba. Born into a Christian home and I am studying Ifa divination currently.

Meanwhile my elder sister is married to A Moslem and they have four kids. Three Christians and one Moslem.

Yoruba's tolerant and expansive minds/disposition is to die for. Some people need to learn from us 😎

They are just ignorant. Most people fear what they do not understand. It is those who seek greater knowledge, so they can understand life better, who run the world.

"Oluwa" itself is an traditional name that was adopted by Christians.

Oluwa was used by ancient Yorubas to refer lord in the worship of their deities.

E.g. OluwaEri is god or Lord of the river,
Oluwaye is used to address Obaluaye (aka Sopona) e.t.c

The Olu is Oluseyi is actually for Obaluaye.

We are Proud of our Traditional African Religion which predates christianity and islam by more than 150,000 years.

That thieving colonialists came with bombs, a dubious ‘holy book’, and guns barely 100 years ago doesn’t mean we abandon 150,000 years of knowledge, identity and history.

How can someone who invaded your land to steal and loot your resources tell you that what you are doing is wrong?

If he is so wise to know what is right and wrong, why did he come to your land to steal?

Is stealing and looting my resources at gunpoint to enrich your society right?

So how can you come with a “Holy Book”?

Did you not read your “holy book” before coming here to pillage and plunder, and massacre?

I keep telling Nigerians - take that book they gave you, and Bin it.

My question is if the Ooni as. Christian will perform traditional rites he needs to perform and if that will not be against his Christianity.

PS: I personally believe it is a disgrace and an abomination for such a traditional ruler who ought to be the custodian of tradition to profess a foreign religion.

What is more barbaric than your white man's custom of wearing a cross of a dead man hanging from it?

You should know all about killing. Your Vatican has slaughtered billions of people directly and indirectly.

And your bishops have raped millions of children worldwide.

The Ooni will have to perform many traditional rites before he is crowned, such. After these , he must henceforth participate in all religious ceremonies within his domain., be it xtian, Islam or isese.

The case of the last alafin was despicable wherein, after enjoying the traditional rites that made him an Oba only for him to stipulate that he should be buried according to Islamic rites. Was it Islamic tenets that made him alafin?
