The officers did not assign themselves to Angela Okorie, there is a systemic problem which is bigger than the police officers getting dismissed, that is what the police should be tackling, if it is tackled these police officers won't even be assigned to her in the first place, the police officers are only victims of that systemic rot.

Query and a month or two suspension should have been okay not outright sack because of this civil offense that most other officers commit.

Then the police should work with private security firms to give them license to carry arms, that way private security firms will be regulated by the police, this will boost the private security business in the country, so if you feel you need protection, go to private firms and spend your money, you can't be using the police which is not even enough for Nigerians for private use...

isn't this a better way to solve the problem, even if Angela or any person wants to use the private security to do jogging or act porn, it is her money, nobody will be bothered, do you know that the number of police men attached to private individuals and politicians are more than the police men doing work for the remaining Nigerians?

They should carry guns only when on duty, once they are off duty(assignment to any individual) they must return back to the office to return the firearm, failure to do that will be arrest and prosecution, these are some of the regulations the police are supposed to do, but they need firearms, the regulations are supposed to be strong because the are still civilians...

You made a whole lot of suggestions but forget you're in a country where funding is an issue. Assigning police personnel to private citizens that can afford it is one of the ways the NPF gets funding. You can talk about creating a seperate section of the force that uses none-lethal/defensive weapons and are strictly only for private citizens except in times of crises where they'll need to assist the main police force but stopping it outrightly is just creating more problems for the future.

It's easy to make plans and say you'll do this and that when you have unlimited funds but that's not the case. A lot of people have seen these issues and even had better ideas than yours but once they got there, the reality was different. You are dealing with powers that be, people that have more influence and resources than you.
