OPICANTO2223:This is multi-dimensional poverty mister man. It doesn't measure financial poverty alone, but rather, access to a decent standard of living. For example, good schools, hospitals, roads, etc. |

Not to support the igbos because I am actually from delta, urhobo by tribe. Go to ondo state akure and ondo city and ask. I heard yorubas complaining that the igbos are buying the houses and the graves of people. That the children are selling the houses including the grave of their parents or grandparents. The igbos are buying properties in hundreds of million over there. They said, they will offer you money you cannot reject. Brenbentondiaz: |

LagosOrigin:This is beer parlour talk, anyone can claim and say anything...it is childish to just assume base on areas, houses and streets you know in Lagos. Have you been to everywhere in Lagos? How did you come to this conclusion? Please talk like a reasonable adult...any clown can open mouth to brag we need empirical evidence. |

SW really trying with the loads of the poor people from almost all regions of Nigeria pouring into SW especially Lagos everyday. Praises to the Omniscient for keeping us safe. Ondo has been consistent in leading the pack for a couple of years now. |

creolehunt:He is actually right. When Lagos was still existing as capital then, Ibadan was still the most developed and richest in Nigeria until Aguiyi Ironsi dismantled everything with his decree 34 unitary ststem of government. Just like the Westerners developed Ibadan then,Lagos is been developed 75% by the same Yorubas and being helped by other tribes especially the Igbos. |

Penguin2:But you saw Ondo among the least with just 27% right? I wonder what you guys gain from being tribalists, You don't compare SW states with other zone base on their closeness to economic hub in Lagos. |

gidgiddy:You can't compare the Gwari to Yoruba. Eighty percent of cities in Nigeria when the British arrived were Yoruba. Ibadan was the largest urban center. It is mainly Yoruba cities that got depleted for Lagos to grow. The Gwari had no city before colonization. |

Putinofrussia:If you go to other regions too, you will see Yorubas dominating many of the trades. Hausa come mainly for seasonal jobs. They have farms back at home that they go back to. I don't think for instance that Lagos is more cosmopolitan than PH but it has three times the population. It may not even be more cosmopolitan than Benin and high population is opportunity for revenue |

gidgiddy:Ondo State is the least poor state in Nigeria followed by Lagos so stop shooting lagos past capital status. Why isn't Abuja number one and why isn't the region of imaginary billionaires leading? |
| Re: Statisense: SW Has Lowest Multi-dimensional Poverty Followed By SE by Ofemannnu: 10:33am On Aug 22, 2025 |
Penguin2:SW has always been the richest region not only because of Lagos but the capacity of the Yorubas to squeeze out wealth even from rock without making noise and their resilience. When Lagos existed before unitary system foisted on Nigeria by Ironsi,Yoruba's Ibadan still led as the most developed, richest and progressive in Nigeria even more than Lagos. |
