Software engineering is becoming less demanding because of AI. Microsoft and other tech giants recently layed off 5000 software engineering employees. I saw it on techcrunch.

Learn oil drilling or Blockchain technology.
Lies! Remember, SE is a sensitive career and it involves some technologies that involves working with data etc. also remember that privacy violation is still a very big issue in tech and no serious organization wants AI trained with it's data etc.

Tech giants, being what they are, can lay off techies because many of them are the architect of these AI tools but trust me, for as long as tech revolves around working with data, the demand will always be there. I don't see that changing in the next 10 years at least.

Techies in the house can correct me if I'm wrong!

Ai can't set up or erect Scaffolds,
humans do.
Scaffolding works like residual income.
It can make money unexpectedly in demand in places like Port Harcourt, just any where.
Buying sturdy ladders for daily, weekly or monthly hire is a good business.

I see people chanting cybersecurity and blockchain everywhere. OP, kindly strike both of them out your options. You can't learn either of them in 6 months not to talk of 2 weeks. Furthermore, cybersecurity requires more than just learning or knowing, you need certifications, which must be renewed annually. The cheapest certification costs around $1k, factor in renewals and see if you have the funds. You also need high-end PC with sophisticated specifications. You should also know that you can't work remotely; you can't be in Nigeria and work in the US as a cybersecurity expert. There seem to be a global data policy to that that you can't transfer a country's data to another foreign country.

Meanwhile, you should know that as a cybersecurity expert, only banks can employ you in Nigeria. Or which institution do you think have more at stake to protect? Now consider how much you're going to spend on certifications, even as a SOC analyst, add that to the cost of annual renewals. Now compare that to the job role where HR will offer ₦150k to ₦200k.

Before making decisions, get In-depth knowledge and know your potentials.

The above statement isn’t entirely accurate. In Nigeria, there tends to be a strong emphasis on certifications, but in other regions, certifications are often secondary and do not guarantee employment unless backed by proven skills. Employers are generally more concerned with the value you can bring and the practical expertise you demonstrate, rather than just a certificate. I know professionals in the industry who hold no cybersecurity certifications, and I’ve also come across certified individuals who have never even worked with a router.

Don’t get me wrong, certifications are valuable, but they don’t guarantee you a job. You still need to sharpen your skills and demonstrate your capabilities. And by the way, who says a SOC analyst can’t work remotely from anywhere, including Nigeria? There are lot of Nigerians working with European companies while living and working remotely from Nigeria.

I'm a software engineer with over 5yrs of experience. I will tell you these for free; with the advent of advanced Ai (chat-GPT, copilot, Gemini, Grok etc) and machine learning, software development/engineering is no longer the holy-grail of the tech ecosystem.

Cybersecurity n Blockchain technology is your best bet, It takes time n dedication but its the best option on your list.

My opinion 😎😎😎💯

Well, you may be right while I might be wrong. I only say what I know.

Thumbs up for the clarification though
