Lies caused by intellectual illiteracy and poor knowledge of history.
So Oduduwa didn't drop from the sky again? grin

Odua was a 15th century fugitive from the Benin Kingdom.

Ife Kingdom is not even the oldest kingdom in Nigeria.

The first crowned King in Africa was in the ancient Nri Kingdom.
The northern Igbo Kingdom of Nri, which rose around the 10th century CE, is credited with the foundation of much of Igboland's culture, customs, and religious practices. It is the oldest existing monarchy in present-day Nigeria

8 Oldest Monarchies in The World
By Somapika Dutta

Today, there are less than 45 monarchies remaining in the world and most of the ruling monarchs have no real power over their countries. Only a handful of countries are still absolute monarchies where the King or Queen has full authority over the entire nation."

The Divine right of Kings is simply the belief that God choses Kings.

Is that not what happened in Israel?

Its not true that most kings in history have simply been pioneers of nations. Most have been warriors, conquerors and expansionists. Even most who arove by usurpation had to be murderers.

Moses was a Prophet. The office of a prophet is to prophesy and he did so. It is too clever to say he had not started prophesy when that incident occurred. Because the truth is he had already been chosen by God for everything right from hi birth and placement in a basket on a river and being taken into the royal house of Egypt by the queen. All that was part of his journey. But if you deny this, do you think Moses killed no one else? Some actually consider him a mass murderer.

It also makes no sense to say no Prophet went to war without the command of God. That is irrelevant because they supposedly do all things by the command of God. And they gave injunctions for war and genocide all the time.

It is not really useful to distinguish between the prophets and judges on this matter because both acted under the power of and at the behest of God. Joshua was the first and making this kind of distinction is both tiresome and meaningless on this particular topic. Because most of those Judges were in the place of spiritual leaders, not so?

Eli was a priest as well as Judge.
Samuel was a prophet as well as the last Judge as another example.

As per Elisha what is the difference between making a pronouncement which elicits the bears and murdering them himself? Come on.
Like I said, in the instance of Israel, they directly asked for the king. That makes it more of a democratic choice than a theocratic imposition which divine rights represents. The theory behind divine rights is that God chose them thus they are not answerable to man. So while in the case of Israel, they were not answerable to man, the fact remains that the people chose to have a king.
Most Kings were pioneers. Only few ascended the throne through fighting and even those would have met some people on the throne whom they got rid of.
Moses was not yet a prophet when he killed the Egyptian. He was specifically called by God at the incident of the burning bush. That he was saved at birth was his mother's decision. That doesn't make him a prophet. Your argument that he was called from the womb does not mean he began ministry as a prophet from the womb. Any other person he killed after he became prophet, he killed them based on God's instructions which you can't fault him for. Anyone that thinks that makes him a mass murderer is only making his own jaundiced opinion.
There is a clear distinction between prophets and judges. Prophets are called by God to guide his people. Judges usually emerge to fill voids left by the absence of prophets. Joshua was a prophet. The likes of Gideon, Jepthah and Samson were not. Samuel was a prophet. Eli was a priest. So you see that judges were not officials called by God for that specific office. They only emerged to fill a void and it was in search of political stability which judges couldn't give that made the children of Israel ask for a king when Samuel was getting old.
The difference is that he didn't murder them himself. It was their stubbornness that killed them. If after he cursed them, they repented and apologised, perhaps none of them would have met the terrible fate. Instead, they increased the tempo of their mockery which ultimately cost them their lives. So Elisha is in no way responsible for their deaths

1. Any King not answerable to man but to God cannot say his office is not also a spiritual and mystical one.

Once again, most Kings were not pioneers. I cannot say this enough. The generality were warriors and even the pioneers you talk about were mostly warriors because that was the nature of the world in antiquity.

2. So long as you admit Moses also killed other people after starting his office as a prophet, it is neither here nor there that you claim it was on God's instructions. That is an excuse that avails everyone. Even the worst tyrants of this world have claimed that excuse. Netanyahu is claiming it till today. Moslems are claiming it ALL the time. Do you also agree that they are not to blame ? ? ?

3. I didnt say there isnt a difference between Judges and Prophets but for the purpose of this discussion the distinction is semantic and pedantic because of the instances where they were both and also acted as spiritual leaders.

4. As for Elisha the spectacle alone is barbaric enough. Who expects children to understand "repentance" for the jokes of children as children. What kind of impossible standard is that. Who even curses a child for such a joke as laughing at a bald head? What on Earth is that. And the consequence being marauded to death bespeaks a barbarity that you cannot excuse - and which is typical of the nature of Yahweh.

5. What about Elijah and the Prophets of Baal? Why is it okay to mass murder them simply because they worship a rival God. If they mass murdered Jews on the instruction of their god, you lot will say, yes, that is the justification for Yahweh to retaliate. So why dont you think that if Jezebel/ Ahab/ Baal equally retaliated that would be justifiable. Its simply because you think one pagan god superior to another.

Think deeply. Justifying things like what happened to the children laughing at Elisha is horrible. No sane person would punish children that way. It is eerily similar to the insensitivity towards children in Gaza today. Your moral compass has to be questioned if you think its okay to tear children apart for any reason, not to speak of for a chidish joke.

I am from the ancient royal family of ife, one of the many ooni that was exiled out of ife. (Not to Oyo). you don’t know my history more than me. There are even things I am forbidden from revealing. That Yorubas come from ife does not mean the rightful king sits in ife. That all Yorubas come from ife does not mean the pure bloodline to Oduduwa sits on the throne or isn’t a king elsewhere. Based on what I know, The Allafin is the pure lineage to Oranmiyan.

Oranmiyan is the 1st ALaafin and the rightful owner of the throne in ife. there is a reason he never became King in ife but his OPA stands prominently in ife. That should tell you something.

Nobody said oyo as a town is superior to Ife, I said the ALaafin is superior by lineage and authority to the OOni. Because the lineage that should have been king in ife, left to establish his kingdom in Oyo. That is almost universally accepted, the issue is why did he leave ife, why didn’t he become king and who became king instead?

Based on what I have been told and based on what I read from noted academic historians. ALaafin is the superior king even though he sits in Oyo.

Don’t let me start because we can even start to mention obas like the Oba of ila orangun.

For example the shah of Iran is currently in exile and has been for over 40 years. If I stage a coup and overthrow the king of England today and banish William and his brother and the entire family to another kingdom say Spain , You can’t come in 1000 years and say my Future descendants are descendants of Queen Elizabeth! No the accurate story would be that the pure line to the original kings of England currently sit on a throne in Spain. In fact England is a perfect example. The current bloodline of the current British royal family are German not English. That’s why they are called Anglo saxons, they come from saxony in Germany!

My family is not from the Oranmiyan line but the Ooni line so I have nothing to gain in saying the Alaafinis the superior a king even though he sits in Oyo.

Strictly speaking from the bible, anyone killed by Moses according to God's instructions is justified. Moslems have no business claiming God asked them to kill. They are not israelites and God does not have any covenant with them that is required to be fulfilled. As for Netanyahu, I've not heard where he claimed that God instructed him to kill anyone. He's simply defending his state as the leader.

I
didnt say there isnt a difference between Judges and Prophets but for the purpose of this discussion the distinction is semantic and pedantic because of the instances where they were both and also acted as spiritual leaders
It isn't. The difference is very wide and significant. A prophet bears a message from God and seeks to restore people to the true worship of God. A judge has no such assignment. Thus, a prophet can claim to have received instructions to kill while a judge cannot

As for Elisha the spectacle alone is barbaric enough. Who expects children to understand "repentance" for the jokes of children as children. What kind of impossible standard is that. Mocking people for physical inadequacies is repulsive kids or not. Kids who exhibit such behaviour if not tamed usually end up as bullies and miscreants. That's why parents are usually encouraged to train up a child the way he should go. If the parents of those children had taught them not to mock others, they won't have met the terrible fate they brought on themselves. More importantly, Elisha only cursed them. He's not responsible for the bear attack. Or did he command any bear to hurt them?

What about Elijah and the Prophets of Baal? Why is it okay to mass murder them simply because they worship a rival God. Again, always read your bible before you make comments. The Prophets of Baal along with their matron Jezebel had killed multiple Prophets before Elijah (1Kings 18v4). I'm surprised you're not appalled by the killing of innocent priests and Prophets but you're appalled when the favour is returned. Your predetermined hate is borne out of ignorance not any moral height. If you had read your bible like I always advice, you will find in the laws of Moses that anyone who rebels against God is to be put to death. Mocking God's prophet is a rebellion against God( Leviticus 24:16). These are established laws of Israel which everyone was sworn to obey. As for Gaza, they brought it on themselves. Folks like you hypocritically whine over Gaza while you're oblivious to the series of systemic genocide going on in your country. When do you call for accountability for the over 3m who died in Biafra including kids? What about the ethnic cleansing going on in the middle belt? You think kids are not affected?

This is such an astonishing statement that I offer you another chance to reconsider it.

Strictly speaking from the bible, anyone killed by Moses according to God's instructions is justified. Moslems have no business claiming God asked them to kill. They are not israelites and God does not have any covenant with them that is required to be fulfilled.
Am I hearing right or are you saying if the God of Israelites asks them to kill it is right but if the God of Arabs asks them to do the same thing it is wrong?

In answering this you may wish to consider whether there are promises made by Allah to those who kill in his name and for his cause as he directs. And how that is different from having a covenant.

Although one wonders whether the claim that "we have a convenant with our God" justifies killing upon his alleged instructions.

You may wish to pause to reconsider this as well. Because it is open license to anyone who announces he has a convenant with his God.

As for Netanyahu, I've not heard where he claimed that God instructed him to kill anyone. He's simply defending his state as the leader.
Then you are not following his pronouncements especially those on "Greater Israel."

It isn't. The difference is very wide and significant. A prophet bears a message from God and seeks to restore people to the true worship of God. A judge has no such assignment. Thus, a prophet can claim to have received instructions to kill while a judge cannot
I am surprised you are not embarrased at the bold. Can the Prophet Muhammad claim the same?

Do you not realise that any "prophet" today can also claim this? Do you remember Reverend King here in Nigeria?

If the God of Israel asks them to kill then it is right for them and same for the Arabs. However, the Arabs will need to tell us what covenant they have with their god that involves killing. So far as I know, there is no covenant or relation in islam between Allah and his followers. They are slaves who are to worship him without question nor expectations except that rich he wills for them, a will they are not privy to. To announce a covenant is not enough, you must be able to show us the operations of the covenant. Is it not striking that the Arab God bears striking similarities with the Israelites God yet they can't establish any special generational relationship with him from their texts but have to rely on the relationship of God with the Israelites to form a narrative?

Then you are not following his pronouncements especially those on "Greater Israel."
I do. Quoting a scriptural passage does not imply that the passage is specifically for you. That's where you misinterpret things. Islamists suffer same malady. Since they claim whatever God told Muhammad also applies to them, they are usually in a fix when such utterances conflict with modern day reasoning or logic. One of such is the right to own and marry slaves.

I am surprised you are not embarrased at the bold. Can the Prophet Muhammad claim the same?

Do you not realise that any "prophet" today can also claim this? Do you remember Reverend King here in Nigeria?
Muhammad did in fact made such claims. But he later killed people without specific instructions from his God to carry such killings out which is where I believe he failed.

So for you, this justifies cursing Children?

So who instructed the bears? Yahweh? Typical.
Your nuance is that kids shouldn't be cursed cause they are kids. Well, Elisha does not agree with you. And obviously God does not either. If you don't want kids to get cursed, teach them to behave properly towards strangers.

You seem to miss the point that I was making. It is simply about how either side's gods can instruct them to mass murder or also revenge by mass murdering. Do you have a problem with that, or only Yahweh can give such obnoxious instructions?
But you never made that point. Your focus was on Elijah killing the worshippers of Baal till I called your attention to the people who started the whole killing. Now you've shifted goalpost out of the magnitude of your hate for the Christian God. May I ask what fuels such hate in your heart. It isn't healthy. It keeps debasing your otherwise flowery intellect

Dont presume to know me. Just this morning I was writing about the starvation of children in Biafra as a war crime under the Geneva Convention 1948 - off this forum - a position I have passionately argued for years.
If so, you need to keep writing till the bloodshed gets to the front burner. Don't make it a symbolism that pales into insignificance when held up beside the Gaza situation. One life is not more precious than the other.
I don't think Palestinians care so much for what goes on in Nigeria to every bother to even spare a thought for souls lost here daily

I will leave this to another day. Sometimes you simply say and stand by incredibly false things which betray not just a deep ignorance, but a striking incapacity for reasoning, which is surprising because you tend to do well once its not a religious matter. I cant forget how you claimed it is impossible for an African to have a Mongolian ancestor.

If the God of Israel asks them to kill then it is right for them and same for the Arabs. However, the Arabs will need to tell us what covenant they have with their god that involves killing. What is a covenant if not a promise made by a deity to a person or people? Do I have to start quoting the Quoran for the many promises made to Muslims for their fealty to Allah? Please and please. Sometimes you are just beyond unreasonable. All because you wish to push the absurdity that Jews have a special right to kill by command of their God? Christ.

For the avoidance of doubt, this is what a convenant is -

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/covenant

I dont know how any rational person can claim that there are no promises made by Allah to Muslims in Islam, and none which command them to kill.

But thats the way religion makes people reason. My God can do it and its fine. But if your God does it, its a crime. Simple. Thats all you are saying.

Muhammad did in fact made such claims. But he later killed people without specific instructions from his God to carry such killings out which is where I believe he failed.
Oh, so you know specially where and when Allah did not instruct him? Mohammad who was able to produce instructions from Allah at any second as he found convenient? You must be joking.

Your nuance is that kids shouldn't be cursed cause they are kids. Well, Elisha does not agree with you. And obviously God does not either. If you don't want kids to get cursed, teach them to behave properly towards strangers.
I shudder that a Christian can sit back with a poker face and justify this.

But you never made that point. Your focus was on Elijah killing the worshippers of Baal till I called your attention to the people who started the whole killing.
It is not my fault you failed to read.

Now you've shifted goalpost out of the magnitude of your hate for the Christian God. May I ask what fuels such hate in your heart. It isn't healthy. It keeps debasing your otherwise flowery intellect
Any hatred for your god I have is more than justified by your scandalous utterances above. I would rather perish a million times over than be associated with such.

The fault lies with you who make absurd claims without any means to substantiate them. If you ask me for examples, I'll freely give you. You're yet to also show proof of an African having Mongolian ancestor till today. Thank God you brought that up again to cement your failure in presenting facts.

Christ.
For the avoidance of doubt, this is what a convenant is

I'm glad you referred to websters yourself. I have reproduced the no 2 definition which is most appropriate for this discourse for you. Read.

a written agreement or promise usually under seal between two or more parties especially for the performance of some action
From above, it is clear that a covenant has two important features. The first is that it's written and secondly, it is dependent on performance of an action. Now the covenant of God with the Israelites was clearly written on the consent of both parties that is God and Moses who represents the Israelites and the actions required to be preformed was clearly laid out in the covenant (see Exodus 34v27-28). Now there's nowhere in the Qur'an or any Islamic text where Allah asked Muhammad to write down any covenant nor did he make any binding commitment to any cause or action on His part towards them. I challenge you and any Islamist reading this to show where any covenant exists in the Qur'an. So you see, it is very easy for Allah to repudiate everything in the Qur'an since he never asked that they be written down which means there's no covenant. I've always admonished you to read the religious texts. At least the bible makes for good reading even like a storybook or novel unlike the haphazard structure of the Quran. This will help you to stop making false and offpoint comments and laying false allegations against the bible and Christians.

Oh, so you know specially where and when Allah did not instruct him? Mohammad who was able to produce instructions from Allah at any second as he found convenient? You must be joking.
Again, there are specific instances when Allah commanded Muhammad to fight. Go and study the Qur'an. One of such is the battle of Mecca which occurred after he got the quranic verse to kill all polytheists which we all know that Mecca was a centre of polytheism. However, Allah never instructed him to fight or kill the people of Khaybar nor rob caravans or fight the Jews in Medina. Those were his own decisions and makings purely out of frustration and jealousy.

I shudder that a Christian can sit back with a poker face and justify this.

Do you support the death penalty for rapists? What about Nigerian law that prescribes death for armed robbery even if the weapon used was non-lethal like a stick? Do you support it. If you have no problem with these human judgement why do you have an issue with God's own judgement? Why do you hate God? Is he not a Judge? Did he not create all? Will the creature decide for the creator how he wants to be treated? If God had determined that the best course of action was to kill those kids, why do you rage against God? Did he not create them? It is rather absurd for you to sit in judgement over God when you cannot lay claim to any jurisdiction you have over Him by virtue of support, relation or protection. In fact, it sounds more like folly.

Nothing in your post deserves a response. However I will just draw your attention to how badly you mangled the definition of covenant.

In the first place read the definition in red again. You wil see that the only thing there that is necessary is a promise. If you lack reading skills, I will highlight the words that show this -

"a written agreement or promise usually under seal between two or more parties especially for the performance of some action"

In short, it could be a written agreement OR promise usually - (but not necessarily) under seal. The word "especially" shows that a reciprocal action is not always required, but that where such is present this is an extra affirmation of the character of the promise.

All that is required is the factor of a promise, but at all events even if you dispute that, every other factor stated there is contained in the Quoran. There are written promises there which demand reciprocal action for fulfillment. Anyoe who claims otherwise is joking and I will not belittle myself to have to list them.

Thats all I have to say. The whole of your post was otherwise irritating ignorance and stark illogic, most of which will be too insulting to revisit, just as absurd as your hilarious position on the possibility of descendance from froeign tribes.

Ignorance!! The bane of the proud
I challenge you to point to anywhere in the Islamic texts where the covenants and spelt out and where they were commanded to be written down. The Quran was written based on the initiative of Muhammad's followers. Even Muhammad never wrote it down. So how can a covenant written by those who were not there when it was being formed be even considered genuine? You're simply ignorant of the spiritual significance of having a covenant written down and of it usually requiring a seal.
A covenant is a two way street where conditions must be met and standards adhered to. Any covenant that does not require fidelity from the parties involved is simply not worth its ink.
Go and do further research on spiritual significance of covenants

I am trying to say the version I know accords with the Alaafin being the rightful King of all Yorubas - while the Ooni was basically a priest. I was asking you if this is right.
. I have since been schooled that Oranmiyan returned to ile-Ife to reclaim his throne leaving his sons as Alaafin and Ooni.
