There is a height.

Back then, the likes of Theirry Henry, Nedved and co. were close to the top. The defenders were grassroots. Today many from defenders to attackers, even goalkeepers have pushed the limit close to the ceiling.

So the gap has reduced.

Mention defenders today who are in the mold of Franco Baresi, Paulo Maldini, John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Vidic, Cannavaro Cafu, Carlos, Japp Stam, Taribo West, Alexandro Nesta, Costacurta, Zambrotta.

That era produced great players in all departments of the field. You making it seem as if Ronaldo, Henry and other elite attackers were playing against mediocre defenders. That's a flat out lie

⚠️ AC Milan call Victor Boniface deal off as Nigerian striker did not pass the medical tests.

Despite verbal agreement for €5m loan fee and €24m buy clause with player in Milano in the last 48h, deal called off due to medical.

Boniface, returning in Germany today.

Sad to hear about the Boniface transfer saga!

I hope he still gets better days ahead in his career. My mind no sweet at all!
It's a sad situation. I pray he takes it in his stride. In the history of football, I'm not sure anyone has failed a medical not even our Kanu who had a heart issue

What is the problem with AC Milan and Nigeria players self.
Why raising his hope only to shatter it at the last minute sitting his fitness.

First they bought Chukwueze but barely starts him.
Next they will go for Onyedika and mess up his development.

It's s real downer. I hope Boniface turns this around. Of course it would affect him psychologically but I hope and pray he doesn't stay in the down zone for long. I honestly think he might have to manage his game time too and probably take a leave from international football. Another player that comes to mind is Chinedu Obasi Ogbuke, talented but has injury worries too

AC Milan never serious.
Some clubs dey buy injured players.

If they were serious, they would forget about a loan move and buy him outrightly, few weeks is enough to regain your fitness.

the difference between him and you is local and foreign
The difference between Komekn and Meliforme is the negativity and positivity bias in them, especially for the players they chose.

Komekn is unflinchingly negative, while Meliforme is positive in a bizarre way

People like Baresi, Maldini, Cannavaro, Nesta, Taribo are actually slow. They are not even close to Konate or Gvardiol in pace.

You saw a video posted not too long ago of Aina taking on a Speedster like Walker in pace.

Can you think of Terry playing as a right or left back? Today we see central defenders like Boateng, Stones, Ake, Gvardiol and Kounde.

Yes you can say Cafu but the thing that made Cafu strong and fast, is what all players are doing.

Football looks more boring because gap between players have reduced. You hardly have poor players like before.

You can't compare Baresi, Nesta and Rio Ferdinand in speed and fitness.

Watch this video again and see the speed of a young central defender. Not a big name Khusanov and see what forwards are dealing with now.

That is the truth. Also, the past greats hardly dealt with the tactical low block we are seeing today.

They should stop with this football is boring. Let the old players stand and tell us that they were fitter, faster and more tactical sound than today's players. That would be the flat out lie.

Fans were taunting Gyokeres because of his constantly retouching his hair. He scored yesterday and did that flicking in front of camera.

I was expecting Mbeumo to do the same today but man was so lost... Courtesy of.. you know who. 😂

I became a follower of the league in 2016 so I know this is not a new thing.

I don't know how it will happen o but there has to be a paradigm shift to the perception of not just football but sports. Majority of our problems will go away once there is a shift to seeing football through economical lenses.

FIFA World best winner Canavaro, Nesta, ferdinard, lemme even bring it home, Taribo West, Uche Okechukwu are who you call grassroot footballers. Which of your current SE defenders are better tactically than the aforementioned.
