This is interesting. During GEJJonathan, oil boom average of $110 per barrel, average of 2.2 mbpd yet left huge debt. No infrastructures projects, and borrowed to pay salaries.

It's been just two years and Tinubu is making serious efforts on our external debt. My problem is with someone who walk around listening to m♧d people to advice his followers.... |

Tinubu is really making good efforts to free us from the problems of debt from the past. I hope he's able to finish all the good things he started |

Omo. Why was GEJ so clueless though. Last time I saw the reserve thread. He literally shredded everything. It got worse under him that his own minister had to cry out how they were borrowing to pay debt. GEJ had the biggest oil boom era, services little debt but somehow still mismanage the economy. What happen? Could it be the subsidies or what exactly?

JASONjnr:How is 75% in less than two years of what his expired northerner spent in eight years, equal to serious efforts? What arithmetic formula does that? Meanwhile, any logical explanation for why ebilokan is borrowing more money than previous presidents after his $84 billion subsidy savings that has made petrol and everything else very expensive and choking people ![]() ManirBK: |

chopnaira:Someone explain to those of us that are laymen what this means. Is this the debt they accrued or the debt they have paid of out of our total debt? |
| Re: External Debt Service Record By Nigerian Presidents Since 1999 by anonimi: 6:24am On Aug 25, 2025 |
Osebanjo:Yar’Adua had the biggest oil boom. Jonathan spent marginally higher on debt servicing than Yar’Adua even though he achieved far more in socioeconomic conditions and infrastructure. Jonathan spent far less than ebilokan’s expired northerner Buhari who was used to end 16 years of PDP privatisation and deregulation prosperity for all. |

Osebanjo:He was completely clueless, had zero vision. He is a typical example of who should never be a President. Insecurity started in Nigeria under him including Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen cos he couldn't do the basic of mobilizing the State resources to nip it at the bud. He went to sleep and allowed the monster to grow. He didn't know you need to build infrastructures for the future like President Sisi of Egypt and Rwanda's President did. Thank God we have a President that is changing our countries infrastructure. |

We are clearing our debt from right and left. The opposition will really struggle with their campaign in 2027 |

![]() Agbadoes will not like this They would have preferred you show full debt I've been telling zombies that the component of debt that reduced under Tinubu is the domestic debt and even those where majorly paid back by the states External debt has been ballooning which is bad for our sovereignty and currency We all have to agree that APC is made up of incompetent people who are only good at propaganda and politics. Governance and economic management is zero where APC is concerned They have gone from blaming 16 years of PDP to claiming a bad result is also good in just 10 years ![]() |

Now I can confidently say that people are now been paid to defend rubbish on line, since the internet is filled with youths who love Obi the government have recruited people to always defend her, shame on all those defending this evil going on do you all know that all the past government were paying subsidies while this particular on with 8billion in two years is not? Busy giving state governors money to support his next tenure, why borrow when you don't have the need for it, |

JASONjnr:You're simply misguided if you leave poor economic management and focus on frivolities like who take advice from where Given the abysmal impact of this admin on Nigerians, it seems most of those advising your president are even worse than mad men Your attempt to trivialise a serious issue portrays your mental and emotional state How much is foodstuffs in your area now compared to 2 years ago? |

Goodvibes007:Speaking from your ignorance. How much did Jonathan borrow in his entire time in the office and how much has Tinubu borrowed since coming to office less than three years ago? How much debt did Buhari left with compared with Jonathan's era? Which country was better to live in economically for an ordinary man on the road, Jonathan's or apc's? Jonathan paid subsidy throughout his time, Tinubu and his apc cohorts wouldn't allowed its removal though they will later come back to remove it and praised themselves for it, yet they are still borrowing like their lives depend on it? And in terms of infrastructure development, what has Tinubu achieved? The roads are bad, power hasnt significantly improved, yet people pay more. |

We must give obasanjo thanks... He made things easier But APC came and reverse everything Odobaone:Debt servicing... Interest paid on debt. This means our debt is increasing.. As the amount of debt servicing paid per annum keeps increasing The debt still remains as it is. In 1999 our debt servicing was about 4 billion dollars and external reserve at 4 billion dollars Obj said that troubled him and seek ways to free Nigeria. NinjaMetahuman:No rather interest ln debt has increased significantly due to much borrowing |
| Re: External Debt Service Record By Nigerian Presidents Since 1999 by NinjaMetahuman: 7:15am On Aug 25, 2025 |
anonimi:school no be scam. It's debt serviced not debt accrued. It means Tinubu has paid or cleared more Nigeria's debt in 2 years than any other president in the history of Nigeria bar buhari. It's positive stat for him. |
