This is bound to elicit several viewpoints and deferent shades of opinions, no doubt!

This is so because it an emotive question.

However, the claim that Awo, Zik, Balewa and the others can't be rightly called the founding fathers of Nigeria, deserves further scrutiny.

It's one's belief that they were referred to as the "founding fathers" because they took on the baton of leadership of Nigeria following the departure of the British at Nigeria's Independence in 1960.

That the extant Nigerian Constitution is a creation of the military and not that of "we, the people" is incontestable.

On whether God created Nigeria or not is, at this point of our historical journey, neither here nor there.

So many countries all over the world were equally created by colonial powers including the almighty USA, India and many others too numerous to mention.

If one were to hold the same point of view, it would suffice to say that no country was created by God.


The British themselves were under the colonial rule of the great Roman Empire until the 5th century when it too got its independence from the Romans.

Religions such as Islam and Christianity are equally creations of colonial rule of indoctrination and not by God, if one were to accept this school of thought.

From a religious point of view, nothing was created without the Hand of the Almighty God being involved.


No matter on which side of the divide one belongs, Nigeria is presently a nation, a sovereign country.

Instead of lamentations and polemics, Nigerians should be thinking of how Nigeria can be developed by "we, the people" to an extent that the question of who or what created Nigeria would be immaterial in our national discourse.


Nigeria has come to stay irrespective of its creator.

So according to this Pastor, because Nigeria, a 60+ year old country isnt working yet, it means it wasnt created by God? The biblical nation called Israel was wrought by God's own hand. Do you know how many ti.es they have fallen out of God's favour by acts of sin and political errors? The America and UK and other countries that we like benchmarking Nigeria against, do you know how old they are as countries? Do you know how long it has taken some of them to figure out a way for their nations? Do you realise that so.e of these countries are still work in progress? Why are we so hard on ourselves. As bad as it looks, we have not done badly both as a nation and as a country.

People go just climb pulpit open mouth waaaaahhhh and be pouring out message that God did not send them. Just imagine telling your gathered congregants on a Sunday morning that God did not create Nigeria. Which country did God "create" in that sense? Absolutely nonsense!

I really wish pastors will just stop sharing their personal political opinions as the gospel on God's altar.

The idea is to take accountability and to be serious about your future or national building. A country created and named by outsiders for the pleasure of the outsiders and their children can never WORK. Thats the basis of ALL the issues happening because there is no dominant value system or culture that can allow it…. Meanwhile everyone else is exploiting and taking advantage of the stupidly of some black people in the NIGGER AREA.
