I had no idea that German family reunion visa is difficult for immediate family members. Do you have an ETA for your IL? You have the option of attending the interview alone, receive your immigrant visa and file I-824. Your dependents can complete their process in Lagos.
Did you confirm the maximum stay for the Schengen visa? You may want to confirm that to make sure you have the accurate information.
The appointment takes two years from what I have deduced so far which means I will expect them end of next year all things being equal. It’s just 3 weeks since NVC told me my case has been transferred so I am still waiting for IL.

I do not think it is a straightforward thing to file for I-824. I will have to get the green card first and then file for them to come as F2b(the waiting time there is also crazy) I think or I wait to become citizen after 5/6 years and file for immediate family.

Anyways thanks for your response.

If you file i824 (after you receive your green card);for your family they would be 'follow to join' which is NOT F2B. So their processsing would not follow f2b timelines. With i824 your family would ingerit your priority date.

Hello everyone,

I am new to eb2 niw and eb1a. Not even sure which part I qualify for and I have been overwhelmed looking for information on this pathway to the US.
Kindly guide which pathway is best for me:

I have a masters degree in cybersecurity which I just completed
I have over three years experience cybersecurity but over 10 years working experience. I transitioned to cybersecurity recently.

Can someone guide how to even start this process and what to look out for. I see alpt of ads on social media but they ask for so much money to even speak with you.
Help me please

I have a PhD in Food Chemistry, 17 publications, over 16 citations, two international awards, I review manuscripts for so many journals, I have over 10 conference attendance and presentations, a member of 8 professional organizations in my field, I have also won grants for fellowships. Do I qualify for EB1 or EB2?

Hi all, I've 40 publications, 100 citations, won 2 grant awards from the Royal Society of Biology in the UK, belong to two international professional bodies (about 5 in Nigeria), I've also reviewed papers for publishing bodies, hold a PhD, a Senior Lecturer in a University.

Which do I qualify for please? EB1 or EB2 (NIW)?

You know of any firm that can handle my petition?

You have to make that enquiries yourself. You can fix it yourself without giving anyone.

You meet 1,4,6 and then 2 If your international/national professional bodies are selective (invite/nomination/achievement-based), this counts. If they are open to anyone who pays dues, it won’t.
You can self petition or get a lawyer.

You have a strong profile with your PhD, publications, international awards, peer-review activities, and professional memberships. For EB-1A, you appear to satisfy some criteria such as authorship, awards, and judging the work of others, though USCIS also considers overall impact. EB-1B could also be an option if you secure a U.S. university or research institution sponsor. For EB-2 NIW, your combination of research, fellowships, and international recognition would also be relevant.
Get a lawyer to evaluate or self petition.

You already meet the basic requirement for EB-2 because you hold a Master’s degree. But for the National Interest Waiver (NIW) part, USCIS looks beyond the degree they want proof that your work has national importance and that you are well positioned in your field (for example, through publications, awards, certifications, conference talks, or recognized contributions). Since you are just starting out in cybersecurity, you don’t yet have enough evidence of that broader impact, so your case for EB-2 NIW would be considered weak right now. This is just my opinion.
You’re definitely not an EB1 candidate just yet.

Hello everyone,
I'm new to EB-1, EB-2 visas and trying to figure out which route I might qualify for, hoping for some guidance on the best pathway.
Quick background: Master's in Engineering, 4 years experience as a software engineer across multiple roles in fintech and healthtech, built a solo early-stage startup product in fintech/AI, and ran a 30-day state-sponsored tech teaching program in an underserved region that impacted nearly 100 people through workshops and group projects.
Can someone advise if this fits EB-2 (maybe NIW) or another category?

Hello

Please suppose one submit an NIW-EB2 today without paying for fast processing.
What’s the estimate wait time for a green card to be granted (from approval to green card printing) ?

Thank you.
Re: USA Employment-based Immigration (EB-1,EB-2,EB-3 Visa) by lukzy005: 9:27am On Aug 26, 2025
The estimated wait time for a green card to be granted after the I-140 petition is approved, for an applicant who submits an EB-2 NIW petition today without using premium processing, is generally 6 to 8 months for those adjusting status within the U.S.

This is wrong.

First OP is asking for how long it's going to take to get i140 approved with regular processing. The correct answer is 12 to 16 months depending on the processing center (NSC or TSC) according to USCIS estimate.

Now, to your answer if you have approved i40 today, it will take at least 2 to 3 years to get your date current and get green card (file i485). For people doing consular processing the wait time will be up to 5 years.
