The same artistry is what announced both messi and Ronaldo to the world and it’s in their era the focus on individuality started dying off reason why the extra focus and accolades on them for far too long despite many other great or even greater individuals than them who had to sacrifice their own individual style all in the name of the modern game.

In fact in Barca every player had to sacrifice their own style for messi which was irritating to players like the swede Ibramohvic
Even Messi had to sacrifice lots of flair to fit in. Players like Zlatan were still caught up in individual accolades but the system changed because with the rise of tactical defending, the only way to success was united team play.

Ahhh. Ekong is not classy and shiny with the ball at his feet, but he's not as bad with the ball at his feet the way you're portraying sir.
Ekong is actually a good player.
But if the emphasis is on ball playing, he won't make Super Eagles starting eleven.

How much did Messi actually sacrifice after collecting so many accolades for many years, to the detriment of many others? He was just a beneficiary of an initial system that later gave way to another system that deprived so many of such accolades.

Aina is great at LB and RB nobody is denying that.

The argument is that it in the context of the same SE he's best suited to operate in the RB position because unlike the LB position there are not many decent backups in the right fullback position. Osayi hasn't really lived up to expectations.

Zaidu yes is technical limited but definitely more than decent. He was there throughout when we got to the final last year and he seems to be back to fitness. Bruno is getting better in the role however the arrival of Felix Agu should bring that needed quality in the LB from what I saw in the Unity Cup.

If injuries happen and we need someone to slot in at LB yes Aina would be my go to guy but in the mean time we need him in the RB position.
To put it simply Zaidu is a water 💦 carrying carpenter that can run fast but not faster than Aina. He is technically very poor and with low level football intelligence.

Aina could play midfield very easily for Nigeria as well as RB and RW he has arguably the best passing range end product in the team.

If we can't find a quality top level technically astute LB then we should let Aina play LB and get someone else to play RB the problem is who though 😔

The 17 year old kid that just bagged the match winning goal for Liverpool in a keenly contested game against Newcastle is Nigerian- Rio Ngumoha.

I bet NFF don't even know about this kid.
I am not sure he knows anything about Nigeria from what I've seen of him. In addition I've heard ( rumour) he has no relationship with his Father that's why he refused to have his Father's name on his Jersey just Rio.

grin grin grin Honestly you can start argument with yourself in an empty room.

LB is not a major problem at the moment. Zaidu, Agu, Bruno, and even Bassey have creditably filled that role. It's RB that is very porous at the moment. Check the number of goals we have conceded recently and you will see it's mostly through one side of our defense especially when Aina is absent.

Oh and your frequent attempts to put down Sanusi doesn't change the fact that he's an accomplished LB who's a Portuguese league and cup winner with numerous appearances in the UCL.

Regarding the bolded, you are blatantly wrong and far from the truth.

Raphael Onyedika, Alhassan Yusuf, Chidera Ejuke, Calvin Bassey, Igoh Ogbu, Benjamin Federick, Alex lwobi, are ahead of Ola Aina.

If it boils down to passing range, Aina is not even in the top 10 Super Eagles players with the best passing range.

The point is comparing modern day players with the past. I used Ekong that is not highly rated today to show the disparity.

Taribo that was a king would struggle with his style of play today.

Changing the point to comparison with today's player is avoiding the Context of discussion.

South Africa is playing all their remaining 4 matches at home as Lesotho and Zimbabwe uses their stadium for home games.
All games well spaced, home advantage plus no travel fatigue.
Do you still have hope in qualifying?

Zimbabwe already moved their home matches away from South Africa, they will be using Rwanda stadium to host South Africa

#NPFL25 TOP SCORER SAGA.

League organizers blocked Eunisell from awarding the top goal scorer as they have done over the years. Eunisell had planned to reward Anas Yusuf with ₦200,000 per goal, totaling ₦3.6 million.

Instead, the organizers have announced they will award Anas ₦1.5 million at an event scheduled to take place in Abuja next week.

Back in June, the Chairman of the League body, Gbenga Elegbeleye, said with regard to the award:

“It is not right for any persons or organisations to use the name of the NPFL and announce an award without recourse to the asset owners.

“We are going to use every legal channel to protect our asset from this ambush of the NPFL. We will write to the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission so that this illegal activities will stop once for all”

“There must come a time when we must have to put a stop to end impunity no matter how long the illegality has been going on. This is the time and we must get things right”

The league body appears to be seeking recognition or compensation from Eunisell for an award that predates its tenure. Eunisell has presented the top scorer’s prize since 2018, while the current NPFL administration only assumed office in 2023.

This guy's career is one that surprises me. Clubs don't seem to value him enough to keep him, despite good performances, always on the move.

We have a big problem on our hands. Who is a reliable back up to nwabali now that okoye is likely to miss the world cup qualifiers with the ban.

This is the question I asked sometimes ago. But I hope he comes back quickly. We only look at our starting 11 and not the alternatives, just in situations like this.
