Another Corpse Recovered In Lagoon After Third Mainland Bridge Accident by BlackViper(op): 6:38pm On Aug 27, 2025
The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) Search and Rescue team said another body from the Third Mainland Bridge accident of August 23 has been recovered.

LASWA General Manager, Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos.

Mr Emmanuel confirmed that the recovered body had since been released to the victim’s family.

He said while early reports suggested only one victim, investigations later confirmed a second passenger, identified as 31-year-old Chado Daniel Danladi of Oremeta Street, Ikeja.

Danladi was identified as a colleague of the first victim.

Mr Emmanuel said the incident occurred in the early hours of August 23, when a Toyota Camry plunged into the Lagos Lagoon from Third Mainland Bridge.

He noted that LASWA’s rescue team responded immediately after receiving the distress call.

He stated, “The vehicle carried a female passenger, identified as Aisha, aged between 25 and 35. Her body was quickly recovered by divers and handed to her family.’’

He added that emergency units from LASWA, Marine Police, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) worked seamlessly with support from fishermen.

Mr Emanuel stated, “This incident demonstrates the efficiency of our coordinated emergency response and the strong community support that strengthen Lagos State’s capacity to manage waterway emergencies. We remain committed to ensuring safety and rapid response in all such cases.’’

The relevant authorities should raise the height of the guard rails on either side of the bridge to reduce these unfortunate incidences of vehicles going over the sides and plunging into the waters below.

How perfect is your use of punctuation marks? Write something a little lengthier, then we judge! Our "over-sabi" must be curtailed for crying out loud.

The Third Mainland Bridge was where I perfect my driving skills. Coincidentally, the day I started driving on the bridge was also the day I embarked on a long journey. Initially, I felt an overwhelming sense of fear, but as I crossed the bridge and reached the end, my confidence behind the wheel surged. Since then, I've felt capable of driving anywhere.

That's a fat lie!! Ensure you get your facts right before making assertions.....I was on 3mb around 9am Saturday morning and getting to that police point on the bridge,I saw emergency vehicles, lasema,an ambulance, some police vehicles and a little crowd gathered and all focused downwards looking into the lagoon,I was with someone and we both were wondering what could have been wrong,it was not until evening I saw the news on SM about the accident, Immediately I was able to piece 2 and 2 together.

The guy that thought me how to drive also took me to the bridge as my final training...he thought me how to approach corners on the bridge by slowing down as the motor can tumble if you speed into a corner.....

You must be on some maniac fast and furious level speed to be able to go over board even as the bridge is currently......still wondering what could have happened that caused the accident.

Lol, people like you are the one misleading the populace with half bake info

The family make official announcements that everyone was at the bridge doing nothing until the father of the deceased paid 400k to local divers/fishermen but here are you saying what you don't know cause you are just a passer by

Seems the guardrail on that suicide-enabling bridge is grossly inadequate .

There is high possibility they both died on impact or severely injured.....that was a really big fall into the lagoon.....chances of survival on impact is very slim.

Anyone in a state of anxiety and despair as the family of the victim would have been at the time could make all manner of inferences at that particular time,a lot of work would have been going on in the background that they would have been oblivious of,red tapes that make simple tasks look like eternity or nothing is being done while a lot is going on.....I haven't disputed the fact money couldn't have exchanged hands as I wasn't there but I am only stating what I saw in that emergency response was already on ground as early as early Saturday morning.

But what you just typed here is no different from what the family said. The family did not deny that emergency workers were there, they simply said they were told that calls were being made, it was the family that ended up paying local divers to retrieve the body of the female victim.

Now, emergency workers being there and looking into the water by 9am as you claimed does not translate to an actual rescue/recovery.
