they ve come again. Says from someone that probably has no car. You think majority of the night car accidents are caused by a drunk driver Abi?
If you ve driven in the night before, you wouldn’t say this

And also the chances of getting out of the car easily and swim back to the surface is also slim because at the fall is the car going to the deeper level of the lagoon.... If not entering into muddy soil self

Fishermen fishing in a water where several human bodies have disappeared and eaten by fishes. I remember when I was little my grandpa used to refuse to eat Mackerel fish calling them oku eko(Lagos Dead Body) Every time my mama served me oku eko I used to wonder how lagos dead bodies turned to such tasty fishes but the elderly never eat them across Yoruba land.

That's a fat lie!! Ensure you get your facts right before making assertions.....I was on 3mb around 9am Saturday morning and getting to that police point on the bridge,I saw emergency vehicles, lasema,an ambulance, some police vehicles and a little crowd gathered and all focused downwards looking into the lagoon,I was with someone and we both were wondering what could have been wrong,it was not until evening I saw the news on SM about the accident, Immediately I was able to piece 2 and 2 together.
Yes, Aisha family's said the ambulance, LASEMA and others were there relatively early BUT they didn't enter the water to find Aisha. It was around 2 pm that her family got local divers/fishermen to search for her, but had to pay 400k or so.

There is high possibility they both died on impact or severely injured.....that was a really big fall into the lagoon.....chances of survival on impact is very slim.
You're right though but there are also chances they drowned.

Worked seamlessly with the fishermen. See bunch of clowns
unfortunately I passed there that day. Never knew what happened until I had the news in same Nairaland yesterday.

Those Lawma officials were all literally all standing beside the rails of the bridge and looking down from there🤣. Meaning it was actually the local divers they were waiting for untop third mainland bridge o🤣

[quote author=Saao post=136602556]hmm body that the victim family paid 400k to divers to recover to them
[quote author=Lithiumite post=136602687]That's a fat lie!!
[quote author=Lithiumite post=136602841]Anyone in a state of anxiety and despair as the family of the victim would have been at the time could make all manner of inferences at that particular time,a lot of work would have been going on in the background that they would have been oblivious of,red tapes that make simple tasks look like eternity or nothing is being done while a lot is going on.....I haven't disputed the fact money couldn't have exchanged hands as I wasn't there but I am only stating what I saw in that emergency response was already on ground as early as early Saturday morning.
Maybe you should go back and read your response and the comment of the person you quoted

The person you quoted said 400k was paid and your first response was 'this is a big fat lie' even when the father of the victim made a statement concerning that

You may see red tape but trust me non of those state actors will agree to dive into the water to retrieve bodies and the fishermen who could do that insisted no money no show, family even have to negotiate with them down to 400k which means they initially asked for more, it's after full payment they took a step into the water yet far off behind the tape you are claiming it's a big fat lie, haha na
Imagine the deceased father/family seeing your comment

The relevant authorities should raise the height of the guard rails on either side of the bridge to reduce these unfortunate incidences of vehicles going over the sides and plunging into the waters below.
This is a very good suggestion. If the car crashed on rails of the bridge there would be life rescued.
The government should add it to the trillions used in working on the bridge

You too have come with the Nigerian pattern of broke-shaming other people (which is money-worship in disguise). But I refuse to engage you along such petty and poverty-inspired lines.

So back to the tragic accident, what are the odds that both of them slept off at the same time?

I used the word “probably”. It was never broken shaming.
I’m a victim of night accident. Majority of night accidents are caused by blurred vision in the night and dizziness(tiredness). Mine was caused by both. I ran into a stationary parked truck

The issue of motorists plunging into the Lagoon should have been a thing of the past in Lagos state. The Third Mainland bridge is floppy as it lacks proper structure and efficiency. Motorists in multiple die yearly from the bridge to the lagoon.

Last 2week I drove on that bridge, I noticed most drivers was doing 100km/h on that bridge. I felt I was the only one driving slow at 76/80.

This is where I hate Government agencies and why it will take more than the ordinary for Nigeria to attain "greatness".
The first news that broke, says the incident happened very early 2-3am. By 6am the lady's relatives were on their way to the accident site. Body was only recovered at 3pm by local fishermen who collected N400,000 from the father of the victim before they could go into the waters.
But this useless LASWA or whatever they are called are saying they responded swiftly as if they were the ones who did the job. Is this how we want to develop this country?
Is this how the developed countries attained by growth, by lying their way to the top.

I detest drivers that flash. A lot of them are not fit to be drivers. And it's as if no one observes the 80km/hr speed limit on that bridge except me. May be because I drive slower vehicles grin
At least, I have driven a few cars through that bridge and never exceeded 90km/hr before the renovation and never exceeded 80km/hr after the renovation.
Just imagine the messy multiple crashes that occurred just a few days ago involving youth who were said to be racing home after coming from a show.
THE TRUTH IS THAT SOME OF US THE YOUTH OF NOWADAYS ARE FAR MORE USELESS THAN THE OLDER PEOPLE WE CONDEMN.
We are the ones with tattoos all over the body, with rings and chains everywhere, saggy trousers with dirty underwears showing, unkept hairstyles, badly behaved crop of youth we have become. And we are the same ones that want to take this country to greatness? Even the elderly ones that got us here were even far more disciplined and we got here. I just wonder how far we will go from here with all these indiscipline.
