Ur desperation to leave Nigeria should never entertain any form of delay from passport. So, if u can afford to pay 10million to secure visa, is it 100m that u won't pay? Put sentiment aside...100k is not much compared to any country in d world. An American passport costs over $140. So make ur comparison... |

When Nigerians cry of hardship, they tell them to endure while they spend lavishly, borrow and impoverish Nigerians the more, is there any sympathy still left in them? How do you do a 100% increase at a time when people are crying and dying from inflation and hardship generally, why not do the increase gradually. Talk about a government that is insensitive to the plight of her people, you have the chiefest of them in Nigeria, such a pity. |

WYZAD:You think is everyone that leaves Nigeria that is desperate... How about people from poor backgrounds that won scholarships? How about those that usually travel to other Ecowas countries like Benin and Togo for their Business How about those that need Passport just for verification and validation... Why are we paying tax as a country, what really is our tax doing for us? what benefits are we getting from paying tax? |

I don't understand, when it was 35k and there was "corruption" in quote, 80k fast track will get you the 32 pages in a matter of days, 60k fast track will get you the passport next day in places like Niger State Now, without corruption, it's 100k and we'll still have to wait for atleast one week... Not forgetting that even with the "without corruption" package, there'll now be same day fast track He for just leave am like that, shebi na last year them increase am... E don become every year thing? Even his explanation doesn't make sense... He could have just said, because of the inflation and increase in prices of goods, paper and printing materials, we've decided to increase the cost of passport Atleast this excuse is true and reasonable, everybody will understand, but then, if he says such, he'll be shooting himself in the foot and blaming the government that put him there Sir Tunji has always proved to be an intelligent man, he's just caught in a web and trying to make the best of it |

From the best performing minister,It's on point. And it really isn't it's fault as the reviews have been done by prior govt. But I still believe a more strategic approach shd have been adopted to achieve desired result. |

WYZAD:140$ is just about 10% of their minimum wage while in Nigeria the passport price is 140 percent of the minimum wage, an average worker in the U.S can travel out for holiday with just his salary, today a professor in Nigeria can't even purchase flight ticket with his salary for flight to travel out and you are supporting nonsense here because the person in power is your man... Tinubu's presidency really exposed a lot in Nigeria... |

It went from ₦35k (official rate) not too long ago, to now ₦200k+ in practice, once you add the unofficial charges immigration officers demand. That’s over 130% above the monthly minimum wage (₦70k). For many Nigerians, it means: Travelling legally is becoming a privilege, not a right. Brain drain worsens, because only those with financial backing can process documents to leave. Corruption feeds off desperation since applicants often feel they must “settle” officers to get their passport in time. The silence: Many Nigerians aren’t speaking out, possibly because of resignation people feel “na normal for Naija” or fear that complaining won’t change anything. This is beyond economics, it’s a sign of how governance failures push ordinary citizens into hopelessness. A system where your legal identity document costs more than three months’ salary is deeply broken. |

Now action got consequences. 2027 they will sell their rights again and suffer, while they come online to display their low IQ. |

The increase comes barely a year after the Federal Government approved an earlier adjustment in August 2024, which raised the 32-page, five-year booklet from N35,000 to N50,000, and the 64-page, 10-year booklet from N70,000 to N100,000.The second time tinunu has increased the price of passport by over a 100℅. If increasing the price of passport the first time was to "to sustain he quality of the passport and improve service delivery", did the first increase not a niece the goal? If it didnt, what is the guarantee that this new increase will achieve that goal? If it did, why further increase with the same reason as the first? If corruption is the issue with the pro ESS, why can the minister not identify the erring officers and punish them? Why should citizens have to pay for government corruption? Kukutente23:These people r deliberately wicked and heartless. Even with the previous 50k era that is ending today, in Calabar na 85k we just paid to procure a new passport, my friend said she paid 75k in abuja to get hers. Increment in Nigeria doesn't equate to effectiveness, even with the electricity tarriff increment, light isnt stable, even with fuel increment, there r still subtly paying subsidies and there is still corruption with the volume of fuel we consume. Increasing passport price will not metamorphose to effectiveness n good service delivery, it is another way of taxing the poor just to enrich the looters. |
