franudi:In the eye of the law, the igbo guy will be charged for pure murder. When he stabbed him, why did he not mobilize to arrest the guy but retaliated and death occurred. You igbos just want to defend your brother at all cost. That guy will be jailed. So if the igbo that was dead, will you say it like this. |

Scarrr:He is from Yoruba speaking region of Kogi. So, he is a Yoruba by ancestry. Let's be honest to ourselves in this country. That sodiq first stabbed Adindu with broken bottles. And in retaliation with a knife, he died. So,why the ethnic profiling and holding him to ransom? |

Enugurangers:It actually takes a brilliant mind to read in-between the lines. Police quickly issued a statement that the Suspect stabbed the Deceased and then stabbed himself to unconsciousness. The same suspect that was shown in the video being mobbed. Was it after being mobbed by the crowd that he stabbed himself to unconsciousness? Or he was unconscious from his stab injury before the mob action. Why would they be in a hurry to issue a statement on what actually led to the unfortunate incident, and then later promised to carry out investigation. Who are they trying to please? The normal should have been - ....... 'there was a disturbance at Balogun Market as a result of dispute between two Traders/Members of the market. It unfortunately led to loss of a life. The Police has calmed the situation down and arrests made. Investigation has started, to unravel the cause of the violence and punish those found culpable.' Naija! |

Enugurangers:You should be honest with yourself. Igbos are friendly and peace loving people. But this is misconstrued by larger Nigerian society. What happened in Balogun market is example of victimhood,as you want us to believe? |

chopnaira:So you believe someone would stab someone in a fight and decide to stab himself, clap for yourself, there is something I keep telling you guys I have learnt from you people. No matter how educated, exposed or intelligent you guys are, once you people apply tribalism to any issue all those things becomes useless, even common sense and logic is completely thrown away, that's why Nigeria is the way it is today because people who reason like you are you are in charge...I'm not surprised... |

Brendaniel:While reading the report, I was expecting to see where an eye witness reported that the guy stabbed himself, I couldn't find it. Yet the police has that as their version of what happened. This ethnic profiling will destroy Nigeria faster than corrupt politicians will. |

Nairaland has always been the home of ethnic bigotry. No surprise the ethnic issue spread like wildfire here. |

Who else notice that the Igbo witness side of the story is different from the Yoruba, hausa and police spokesperson side of the story. He said the Yoruba guy stabbed the Abia guy with bottle. Only God sees everything. |

What's it with all this igbo guy and Yoruba guy stuff We are just promoting tribalism. Two Nigerians were fighting of which one stabbed the other. That should be the right way. Their identity and other stuff should only be known by the police or other top group which aims for peace. Imagine someone from Chicago stabbing someone from Phoenix, and reports says a Chicago guy stabbed a Phoenix guy... wrong Tribalism still exist and we don't know. Even the police had to use tribe instead of two Nigerians. |

csamii:they should keep telling lies against the Igbos. They are yet to recover from the one they did against them for 3 years. The joy is that you can NEVER be greater that who you lie against. It is obvious everywhere in Nigeria |

Brendaniel:Hiss, I was busy reading thinking you were making sense until you shift the blame on Tinubu as usual. You guys disease is incurable. You're doing exactly what you accused others of. |
| Re: How N8,000 Dispute Led To Lagos Market Killing — Traders by loffyloffy: 12:59pm On Aug 29, 2025 |
Brendaniel:I think you need to look back at yourself for the tribal card. There is a narrative that the police is trying to correct, and that is to dispel the rumours of a tribal war originally shared about the incident, hence the need to make clarification about what actually happened, mentioning the states of the parties involved is to buttress the point. Now on why the Ibo guy was charged, he killed another person in the heat of a dispute, it is not relevant Wether he was provoked or not, there is nothing tribal about that. |

Tenisam:The Nigeria police have already spread their version that the boy stabbed himself in the shoulder and became unconscious. Nigeria police is not only bieseiged by corruption, wickedness and incompetence, they also lack the capacity to feel shame. |

The mods of this platform should remain comfortable as I also respond to the body of this news with the same details given in it. Since you allowed the ethnic profiling in the report including the police PRO's account of it, don't come after my own feedback on it. You see, something you will never find happening in Igboland is either a government worker like the police or eye witnesses lying against someone because of his tribe. Look at the acclaimed Yoruba accommodators lying so brazenly before the whole world that during the fight, an igbo boy stabbed the Yoruba boy and also stabbed himself, and to expose the dirty tribalist, he's supposed to be a police officer working with Yoruba brain in combating crimes within his domain, yet they keep begging for unity. |

loffyloffy:Don't try to be clever by half. If you read the police account and believed that there's nothing tribal in the report given by a supposed Police PRO on the igbo guy being the one that stabbed the Yoruba guy and still stabbed himself, then you are more of a problem than the police PRO and only time will take care of your likes. Just expect the same measure you give in return. The igbo guy also recognised what the constitution called self defence |

loffyloffy:he didn't need to add the state origin at all if that was his intention, secondly the charge sheet matters, you don't twist narratives like this when going to court, you say it as it happened, how would a whole police organization be lying on an issue like this, if the guy was your brother is this what you will say? Tribalism has so blinded you guys that you see nothing wrong in injustice, nobody is saying they shouldn't charge but they should be truthful about it... |

Xpol:Yes, Tinubu is promoting ethnic hate, it wasn't really like this before, so yes he will take blame... if that's what speaking the truth means to you, that's your problem not mine... |
