The Schengen Travel Insurance Policy is normally in Euro and they want one for at least €35000.

One of the cheapest policy one can find right now is through Sanlam Allianz General Insurance Nigeria Limited.

I’ve repeated this many times. You don’t have to get Schengen insurance. That is the minimum they expect. You can get worldwide insurance. Worldwide insurance is available on Axa Nigeria and it is cheaper than the Schengen insurance you will buy from those European insurance companies. Worldwide insurance is also more valuable than Schengen insurance

Yes, it's not advisable to buy a travel insurance policy from any European insurance company because one can get it way cheaper here in Nigeria.

All the insurance companies are selling the worldwide traveler policy, but it is expensive compared to the Schengen policy. It's like twice the cost of the normal Schengen policy.

Unless one is planning a trip outside the Schengen zone as well, the Schengen policy is enough for a trip within the Schengen zone.

My question is that, can it causes visa denied if the Schengen insurance cover limit was written in Dollars ?

Bro Schengen insurance is the minimum coverage they require from you. Worldwide insurance is a more serious version, they will even take you more seriously with worldwide coverage. The fact that it is written in USD will not cause denial. Insurance is insurance. The whole idea at the end of the day is for you to be covered and they know that. They are not robots.

You guys should stop wasting money on unnecessary things. I have a limited budget, and I always go for the cheapest insurance policy. I used a 10-day Schengen travel insurance policy to obtain a 3-year visa for my spouse.

I use the worldwide policy for places like Ireland because the Schengen travel insurance policy doesn’t cover it.

The immigration or visa officers require a travel insurance policy with a limit of €35000; they don’t care about whether it’s a worldwide or Schengen policy.

I’m very sure that 10 day Schengen insurance you got is more expensive than worldwide insurance for 30 days from Axa Nigeria.

@Onile,

You are causing too much panic for yourself over travel.

AXA Mansard has its parent headquarter in France. My insurance was bought from AXA Mansard, cover limits were written in dollars and visa was issued.

Hope this clarifies your concern?

I have used over 10 insurance companies in the past, including AXA MANSARD PLC. I don't have any preference for any insurance company or policy; I only go for the cheapest one.

I bought the insurance in question last year through Allianz, and I paid 4,500 naira.

I normally compare prices from the following Nigerian insurance companies and then go for the cheapest one.

- AIICO
- AXA MANSARD
- CUSTODIAN & ALLIED MUTUAL BENEFIT ASSURANCE
- ALLIANZ
- CORNERSTONE INSURANCE
- ZENITH: I don’t think this one sells travel insurance anymore.

Yesterday, I bought a worldwide policy that covers 17 days (December 15 to 31, 2025) for the Irish visa application through Sanlam Allianz for 8,900 naira, but AXA Mansard insurance company quoted 31,509 naira for traveller worldwide and 22,064 naira for traveller worldwide 1.

Also, if you go through my post on Nairaland on July 7, you will see that I advise people to buy their travel insurance directly from insurance companies in Nigeria, and that your AXA company is among the companies I listed.

@Onile1975.

You claimed that you found a 10-day Schengen travel insurance policy for 10,200 naira. Although this is cheap, it is not the cheapest option available out there. Allianz actually offers the same policy that covers a 10-day period for less than 5,000 naira.

I am not for or against any insurance company. I have a limited budget, and I always like to compare prices before making a decision.

Check the price of a policy that covers a 10-day period through Allianz and see for yourself.

Hello everyone,

I’m trying to research & survey my data but with people’s experience not what’s on Google.

What are the cheapest cities in France for international students, where I won’t spend much.

I believe it is, you'll have to make a strong statement in your cover letter as to why they are sponsoring you. You may also include a letter from your dad or mom stating that they're sponsoring and why. Their bank statements should be included in your application.

Is because I mistakelly pay for two insurance one from AXA, second from AlianZ insurance and I don't no which one is the best,when I try to cancel axa they did not reply my cancellation request. I prefer AlianZ because they wrote there medical benefits in uero while axa wrote it in Dollars.
