O boy! This food is my traditional food and I have never had it in a decade, it's called Ukwa with bitterleaf and millions of dried fishes inside. This is what you guys are enjoying in Nigeria reason you don't want me to come back? Your plan has failed as I just devoured this delicious meal. Can you imagine this delicious food is less than $9. I am taking a 40 minutes walk before I head back to my lodge. Heh! Naija sweet die. Tommorow, I may try fisherman soup albeit without the swallow. I can still feel the tingly sensation of the food at the base of my tongue.

Kobojunkie:Ukwa is protein dense go make your research and this is my only meal for the day. Whatever I post is my life and what works for me and, I do not advocate for anyone to follow my lifestyle. Our local palm oil is good when taken in moderation. You love to be combative at all time sha. |

Nnamdipapa:Abeg, stop all dem lies! Nigerians equally claim beans is protein dense but we all know that ain't all the truth now, don't we? ![]() Ukwa is of the breadfruit family and the fact is that they are all heavy on the carb side than the protein side. The only thing can be considered protein dense about Ukwa seeds are the skins that cover the seeds, skin which are typically taken off before the insides and then prepared. ![]() |

RightToReject:Ukwa is not complete protein oga, 100g ukwa contains 60g carbohydrates and just 2.2g. Protein. lol. It’s not even a top protein source but it contains multiple vitamins like magnesium, phosphorus, zinc and multiple others. |
| Re: What Do You Think Of This N10,000 Ukwa by Kobojunkie: 5:09pm On Sep 02, 2025 |
prenazy:Thank you! And the protein, much of it is lost once the skin on the seeds is removed. 😏 |
| Re: What Do You Think Of This N10,000 Ukwa by RightToReject(m): 5:28pm On Sep 02, 2025 |
prenazy:The way some of you're bold to exhibit your insufficient knowledge on things are both irritating and appalling. What do you know about the term "Complete Protein?" Once again, it's not a high-protein food (Protein Dense). However, the protein it contains is of high quality, providing all essential amino acids (9 amino acids), making it a valuable complete protein source, especially when compared to some other starches. And the reason why it's not Protein Dense is because of its calories predominantly from carbohydrates (starch and fiber), with a single raw cup of it (around 220g) containing roughly 227 calories, with meagre 2.4g of protein, and 60g of carbohydrates. |

Kobojunkie:Beans has lots of variant , white beans is pure carbs but pigeon beans is protein Ukwa contains protein this milky like form when you are thrpugh stage on, it has a wet sticky form when you are washing the messy part |
| Re: What Do You Think Of This N10,000 Ukwa by Kobojunkie: 2:49am On Sep 03, 2025 |
Suicideboy:1 cup of raw pigeon peas contains approximately 703 calories. Of those 703 calories, 4% is of fat, 25%(44g) is protein, while the remaining 71% carbohydrates(129g). Yes, it is high in protein, but we can't pretend the carbohydrate content is negligible. So, no, it is wrong to claim pigeon beans are protein. 😏 Yes, there are many variants as far as beans, and most of them are higher in carbohydrate than protein; most plant sources of protein are similar. 2. I know what Ukwa —African breadfruit — and no, it is mostly carbohydrate than protein. The milky-like form or substance is not protein, no. Neither are the wet sticky substances proteinous. ![]() |
