Some months ago a brother and member of our community Association based in Delta State went to village to see the extent work has gone in his new house which he gave his eldest brother money to roof.

This man Mr. Don as popularly called is a jolly good fellow.
He says the truth not minding who will be affected.
He is bold and fearless.
He was married but his wife died without bearing any child for him.
Instead of remarrying, he was bent on finishing his house before marrying again.

Noted: He was 56 years and hypertensive.

Back to the story.

He travelled home to see the work that is going on and to attend a burial in his village in Imo State. On Alighting from the bus inside owerri he had a partial stroke but instead of him to head to hospital in owerri, he decided to get home first. On getting home, his family members said he was poisoned and decided to visit native doctor who also said that he was poisoned.

They started giving him medicine and conducting so many sacrifices but nothing improved and he died 3 weeks later.

Remember he has roofed his house already but this is the most surprising thing. His eldest brothers children shared the room's of his house and furnished them but abandoned the seating room where he will be lied in state for the last time when his corpse return from the mortuary.

The seating room of that building was not touched but the rooms are already being occupied by his brother and children but couldn't plaster or decorate the seating room at least for burial purposes alone.

When we got to their house and saw this I shed tears. Oga Don suffered to build a house which he did not slept in it.
No wife, no children.
Nobody to oppose his brothers or caution them for neglecting the seating room.

This is a true life story.
Even if you hate yourself that you don't want to eat your money, please ensure you have children who will consume those wealth before strangers will do justice to it.

May his soul rest in peace.

This suggestion screams all sorts of wickedness to me. The man is dead. If he had had a child, who would have been there to raise the child or make sure the property would have ended up in the child's hands, assuming his family would not have maybe killed the child off to grab the property for themselves?

OP, if you were a child in that situation described, would you have been happy or something? Before you say yes, consider the case of the millions of orphans in Nigeria today who roam the streets every day and night, many of them with living relatives who refuse to take them in.

Not everyone should go around having children because children are not meant to be solutions to problems, not even of the kind you describe.

This family would have still killed the man's children.

You think they will gladly live in a hut, while their late brother's child occupies the new house alone

You should be more concerned that he was murdered. So the police won't be called and his death won't be investigated? The way Nigerians can kill each other over money and properties is pathetic.

Do you know that the eldest brothers boy's had their girlfriend's in the rooms when the owner of the house is being buried and they could not come out to assist in bringing the corpse out from the ambulance?
It is our members who assisted the ambulance driver.

They only loved his money and not the guy.

Children are beautiful and a blessing from God.

However...
There's no guarantee that his children would have inherited his house. I mean, this is Nigeria, the land where we say "wives are not your family, will everything to your brother so that he will take care of your kids", then sit back and cry when human greed manifests.

There's no guarantee he would have been a good father. He could easily have followed Nigerian society's bad morals and have cheated so much or even have broken up his marriage for the sake of his side chic and disinherited his children.

I guess the moral of the story is: "live well but don't store your inheritance on earth, think and work always towards Heaven".

I was thinking you will be talking about how a man of 56yrs lived without having a lawyer or a written "will" at age 56. Even some illiterates do have a written "will". It would have been better he willed his property to the orphanages than leave it for $uch a brother.

Having children is not compulsory, one can "will" his/her property to the poor, orphans, churches, etc.

But why do we Africans always have this mentality of always suspecting poison whenever someone dies suddenly? Where's the proof that he's been poisoned?

Many people have underlying ailments but don't know it.

No lesson learned. As a matter of fact, your message should scare more people away from having children than encourage them to do so. Is the man and his brothers not also children to somebody? What if the man has children and they end up killing each other over their father’s uncompleted property?

Shouldn’t you be more concerned about the level of poverty in Nigeria rather than recycling poverty from one generation to another? A man from such a toxic family, where siblings fight and drag over an uncompleted village bungalow, can only breed more of his kind.

The man is obviously from a toxic, irresponsible, poor family and his decisions to break free before having offspring his legit and responsible. The man deserves an award wherever he his right now.

It's possible his relatives who wanted him out saw that as an opportunity to take him out when he went home and utilised it. In any case, an autopsy would determine whether he died due to the cardiovascular event three weeks later, or another cause, which's why it's necessary. Operating based on assumptions that you know the cause of his passing when it hasn't been determined and when the circumstances surrounding it are suspicious, is what's ignorant here. RIP to him.

The brother is not a stranger ...he is still his blood..however you might not get the full picture....moreover we should pray to have grand children or adult children before we die ,because even if he had a wife and little children, if his brother is truly wicked, he will frustrate his widow till she ran away from the family....but since your friend doesn't have wife and children, u can't really judge the man, dead men doesn't talk....do u think your friend would have given his brother money to roof his house or follow them to a herbalist if he doesn't trust them... do u know whether the part of the reasons he travelled to village was to give his brother more money to complete the plastering,....we should not be quick to judge from outside....what I see here is family that lost their breadwinner and someone they hope will help them establish themselves

Even if there was a need for it in this instance it would not be done because there is no one to push for it because you need to pay for it

If God spares my life upto 56 years my first child by God’s grace will be more than 30 years old so what exactly are you saying here?

That does not still give anyone the excuse to birth children when you know you not financially capable.

He should have had an adopted child.
He should have had a written will.

At the end of the day,everyone is going to die,they dead dont even know who occupies their buildings or not.Both the new occupants,everyone will pay the ultimate price. You dont need to attach much to the things of life,with or without a child.Moreso there is a time to born,a time live and a time to die.You shouldn't be bothered with what just happened to his house,life is transient,people are born to die,at the end,they will all end up as dust.
