What exactly is the criteria for demanding statehood? If someone insists that Ibadan should be made a state, shouldn’t he face the public in a proper press conference to explain why? Look at America: • Texas is so massive you can drive 24 hours across it and still be in the same state. • Some U.S. states even stretch across multiple time zones.E.g California. Yet, they’re not breaking themselves up into little fragments every time someone feels entitled. Meanwhile, here, every small local government with three roundabouts wants to crown itself a “state.” For what? Prestige? More political appointments? Access to federal allocation? This constant agitation for micro-states is unserious. Real states are built around economic viability, infrastructure, and governance capacity, not just sentiment. Until someone can define the hard criteria, population size, GDP output, landmass, resources, this noise about turning every LGA into a state is nothing but a distraction. |

Support. Old Oyo should be given to Fulanis then Ibadan can be shared between Yorubas and Igbos... This makes the most sense as one big nation |

Ibadan state will be a good idea.... because Oyo state is too large and can carve out like 3 other states. |

Softmirror:No Government, Governor or President can dethrone the Olubadan, No government appointment him. Only death can take him away from that throne. This emphasize how strong, powerful and unique the kingship system in Ibadan is. |

ednut1:Finally a sensible person has spoken. I wonder why Ladoja did not canvas for Ibadan to be a state when he was Oyo state governor. I am sure it is that small boy Alaafin he doesn't want to be sharing limelight with in the state that is worrying him. Typical of our elite. |

What is wrong with Nigeria? You do not just divide a state. To what end? Texas state in United States is slightly less than the full Nigeria. No one ever talks of dividing Texas. The larger the size, the better the resources. United states has never divided its states since 1800s. They only buy states from other country to add to their number of states. |

Ibadan is rich in history n more developed than some states in the North. The next set of states should include Ibadan |

deesquarediddy:What I meant was by poke nosing into politics. Mind you, he got the approval of the state governor and almost all those who have been in the position are not seasoned politicians. There is a first in everything, it will only come as a surprise. |

Ibadan with 10 lg deserves to be a state on its own. |
| Re: Ibadan Becoming A State Is Long Overdue - Olubadan-designate, Ladoja by happney65: 9:04pm On Sep 04, 2025 |
deesquarediddy:Dey play. An ordinary Ibadan North LG in conjunction with the state government will dethrone the olubadan and nothing will happen. The same with other kings Nationwide. However the Ibadan kingship process is unique and it gives no room for rancour. But it doesn't say if the government wants to remove a king they can't do so Just saying bro |

Extra state creation, in any part of the country, should not be contemplated for now. |
