New IRCC Update (Effective Sept 1, 2025) 🔹 All applicants — including those reapplying after a refusal will be treated as fresh applications. Make sure you update your documents before resubmitting for a study permit. 🔹 The minimum required funds for a single applicant have increased from $20,635 to $22,895. This applies to all international students applying for a study permit on or after September 1, 2025. 🔹 For multi-year programs, you must show proof that your first year’s tuition is fully paid |

odilibe:My ward’s study was refused on a quite flimsy ground but good thing that can be easily addressed but of course she will miss a semester. GCMS showed RROC as the primary processing office while Nairobi was secondary. If most study permits are now being processed by RROC that is usually slow, then it’s going to be tough for most applicants going forward. |

Profgordons:So sorry to hear that . For RROC, you have to constantly bombard them with emails else, they may take over 10weeks with your application. |

For those interested in NBCC, Application opens today. Application will open 1pm Nigerian time, but it’s best to be on the website from 12pm. Have all your documents handy as soft copies and the 100cad application fees.

Profgordons:How will you know it’s RROC that’s handling your application because I summited my study visa application today… And it was IRCC that sent me an email of confirmation.. Please enlighten me |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Profgordons(m): 11:17pm On Sep 05, 2025 |
mcsugk:IRCC is the main body but it has several offices across the world. RROC is located in Ottawa, there is Etobicoke in Toronto area, London, Nairobi etc. the easiest way to know is when you order a GCMS note. You will see the primary and secondary processing office. |

Thank you so much for your response. I followed your advice and my visa got approved already. More interestingly, within the space of 11 days. I didn't show my sponsor's account. I submitted his farmland documents and only mention that he has cattles with pictures of the cattles attached. His appointment letter was also attached. Thank you once again. I really appreciate your response. JMG12: |

A 2-year program in an eligible program is required to be eligible for a 3-year PGWP. You can contact me if you need assistance in securing admission. Olaoluwa2025: |

Please guys I'm in a dilemma right now. I reach out to professor and he agrees to supervise me but said they accept limited international students due to funding constraints. Please what do that mean? Does that mean they won't give me funding? I do not want to ask him further questions. Please |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Osemigho: 2:00pm On Sep 08, 2025 |
Petrified235555:It means admission is not guaranteed. The school will allocate some fund to the department (e.g. $250k) for scholarship. The Department will need to share this money across existing and new graduate students, while prioritizing local students. The higher the money they receive, they more students they can funds and vice versa. Due to funding restriction some may only be able to take less than 5 new international student per year. Don't worry yourself about it. Apply to the school and keep looking for supervisors in other schools. I was in your shoe in 2015/2016, and finally entered in 2017 with full scholarship. I encourage you to keep looking for supervisors in all schools that offer funding for your desired program in Canada. All the best. |

Hello house, please i need your advice. My long awaited second study visa application was refused after waiting for 50 days. Application submitted date 16 July, Refusal date 5th September. while waiting, i already deferred my admission to Jan 2026 intake New LOA submitted through web form. 1st Application~ Was refused because there was a mistake in my my bank statement Ticket. Second Application~ The issues on the first application was addressed, but yet was refused for another reasons. Reasons for Second application Refusal~• I have reviewed the application. The applicant's assets and financial situation are insufficient to support the stated purpose of travel for the applicant (and any accompanying family member(s), if applicable). Previous refusal noted. Partial tuition payment noted. Proof of funds on file provided. Financial information is not supported with sufficient evidence for the bank statement balances on file. Limited evidence pertaining to the source on stated funds. Bank statement shows lump sum deposits and there is insufficient evidence showing how these savings were accumulated. In the absence of satisfactory documentation showing the source of these funds, I am not satisfied that the applicant has sufficient and available financial resources to pay the tuition fees for the program of studies that they intend to pursue and to pay for living expenses while in Canada. Weighing the factors in this application, I am not satisfied that the applicant will depart Canada at the end of the period authorized for their stay. For the reasons above, I have refused this application. My Mom is my sponsor, she has a Registered Business Documents submitted~ CAC business Registration, Tax clearance certificate and an affidavit of sponsor/support. For the lump Sum, she sold some of her property valued 20m and just affidavit for transfer of ownership was submitted. FOR CONTEXT, I plan to reapply this September when i get receive my PAL for 2026. Please what can i do differently this time to make the application stronger? Any advice from the house please Help. Thank You. |

Got served… Reasons for the refusal of your application Officer Decision Notes (ODN): I have reviewed the application. I have considered the positive factors outlined by the applicant, including statements or other evidence: The applicant has provided a reason for their visit to Canada. However, I have given less weight to the positive factors, for the following reasons: The applicant's assets and financial situation are insufficient to support the stated purpose of travel for the applicant (and any accompanying family member(s), if applicable).- The applicant is AAAA BBBB applying to a program in Master of CCC from University of DDDD. - Scholarship statements provided belong to a third party (oil and gas) and indicate a scholarship of approximately $50 000 . Insufficient documentation to establish the relationship to account holder. - Partial tuition payment noted (approximately $2000 CAD). - Estimated tuition for 1 year for this program: $35 800 CAD - I note that a mandatory/partial tuition payment has been paid to hold their place in the program. No additional payments on file. While this amount would be sufficent to cover the applicant's tuition fees, it is unclear how the employer would cover the company's regular expenses where these funds to be allocated to the applicant's schooling. No documents were provided to indicate that the applicant's connection to the company. No documentation was provided to demonstrate that the other shareholders of the company are willing to sponsor the applicant. Based on the documentation on file, and the limited information demonstrating the availability of the funds, I have concerns that third party funds would be sufficient and available for the proposed studies. Therefore, I am not satisfied that applicant has sufficient and available financial resources to pay the tuition fees for the program of studies that they intend to pursue and to pay for living expenses while in Canada. Weighing the factors in this application, I am not satisfied that the applicant will depart Canada at the end of the period authorized for their stay. For the reasons above, I have refused this application. What I included in my previous application POF: 1. Scholarship award letter on company’s letterhead ($50,000 covering tuition + living expenses). 2. School entrance scholarship award letter ($3000 CAD) 3. Admission verification sent by the school to the scholarship board (on school letterhead). What I did not include: 1. Link to the public announcement of the scholarship. 2. Email correspondence showing the process (my application, assessment, and interview and finally award letter) What has changed now (after first application): 1. Tuition deposit now totals CAD $14,299 (school charges per semester, hence not paying in full at once). 2. Scholarship balance deposited into my personal account to cover tuition + living expenses. 3. Award ceremony photos with management. 4. Evidence for all transactions available (MT103). Question: How do you advise I approach my next application? My resumption is Winter. The MSc program is for 12 months [W,S & F]. Note: the scholarship is part of the company CSR project, I don’t not have any work relationship with the company Also note everything under “what has changed”happened after my application and a day to the refusal. Scholarship award is in USD |

Hey everyone, I could really use some help. I submitted my passport for stamping, and it was processed and sent back to the VFS office in Lagos. But just a few days after I dropped it off, I had to travel to the east for my mom’s burial and all the preparations. By the time I got back to pick up my passport, they told me it had been sent back to the IRCC office in Lagos because I didn’t collect it within 30 days. I honestly didn’t know there was a deadline. I went to the IRCC office, and the security guard there told me to either email a certain address or use the web form for passport collection. I’ve done both, but it’s been over a month now and I still haven’t heard anything back. I’m honestly feeling really frustrated and stuck. Does anyone know what I should do next? Thanks so much - I really appreciate any advice. |
