How Sujimoto CEO, Ogundele, Defrauded Enugu gov’t of N5.7bn
.. There's premeditated intent to defraud the state ab initio

“For the avoidance of doubt, on July 2, 2024, the Enugu State Government awarded a contract in the sum of N11,457,930,950.52 to Sujimoto Luxury Construction Ltd for the construction of 22 Smart Schools (buildings only) in six months starting from the date of the acceptance of the award.

“The Enugu State Government paid the sum of N5,762,565,475.25, representing 50 per cent of the contract sum, in order to fast-track the projects at all the sites.

“Rather than play to the rules of the contract to deliver quality projects for furnishing and equipping ahead of September 2025 school resumption, in line with the priority placed on the Smart Green Schools initiative by the government, Mr. Ogundele resorted to shoddy jobs and the use of inexperienced workers and quack engineers. None of his sites met the structural integrity of the projects as specified in the structural drawing.

“Worse still, he vanished into thin air with the money. All efforts made by the government to get him to a roundtable to discuss the quality and progress of work proved abortive. He equally refused to attend the periodic projects briefing organised by the state government for all contractors or take numerous calls and messages put across to him. In fact, he practically abandoned the sites, leaving the Enugu State Government with no other choice than to petition the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to recover the funds paid to him.

“A joint team of officers of the Enugu State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure and the EFCC visited the 22 sites to evaluate the progress of work on May 8 and 9, 2025, where it was clearly established that there had been minimal to no significant work done at the said sites one year after the contract award. In some cases, he fraudulently did not do excavation for all the blocks in site.

"It is also on record that he has not shown up at the sites or made himself available to either the state government or the law enforcement agencies even after those site visits.

“It is also pertinent to state that it was discovered in the course of investigation that whereas he presented a bond from Jaiz Bank, he used Sujimoto Luxury ConstructionLimited’s Zenith Bank account number 1312731196 to receive the said payment and draw down the fund without deploying it to the projects.
This clearly shows a premeditated intent to defraud the state ab initio.

"The government has since retaken and handed over the sites to new firms, who has no choice than to start the construction afresh. Tremendous progress has been made to keep the determination of the Mbah Administration to migrate Enugu children to Smart Green Schools by September on track.

"Nigerians should therefore disregard his theatrics and crocodile tears, as Enugu State Government is determined to and will surely recover every penny of Ndi Enugu fraudulently obtained by Mr. Olasijibomi Ogundele (Sujimoto).”

Why are you making a skit video in response to the EFCC invitation? It clearly feels like social manipulation to win public sympathy. How many times has he done the same when vendors and employees called him out on social media for unpaid dues? Now that the complainant is a big player, he’s suddenly shedding crocodile tears—yet some gullible people will pity him. Both sides should resolve this legally, and whoever is at fault must be properly punished. Too many treat government contracts like free money, and if the government can hold some accountable, Nigeria and Nigerians will benefit.

The crap Sujimoto was saying about price of building materials changing is absolute nonsense. He took the contract, got mobilized with 50% of the payment and he's telling 'stories that touch' with nothing to show for the money he received.
My guy, go and cool off in jail till you refund the money.

When we were calling out the work done on the so-called Smart Schools considering how much it cost, it was misinterpreted to mean we were against the work he is doing for one reason or the other. Now, look?

Sujimoto goofed by taking that job when he has his own niche that he has never departed from coupled with the fact that he has to use his own money.
The pricing was bad and you took it,the fault is yours because you thrashed your professionalism.

A man executing billions of naira jobs has no business crying when declared wanted by EFCC, get a lawyer, go and answer and head to court to say out your side not social media crying, that's manipulative and it only shows he is guilty in my book.

Who pays 10 billion naira to build smart school. That money is too small now. Suji moto is the one saying the truth here

Contracts can go awry at times that you will be stuck in the middle.

I have said this before. My twin nruh is one of the engineers handling about 3 smart schools in Nsukka.

He has said it earlier that smart schools is a waste of money

Have u done business? Giving 10 billion naira for 50 smart schools is untenable. Im a builder and I believe Suji moto side of the story. I feel his pain

I can tell you that the prices of things has been stable since mid last year, while some are even coming down (except for food items which started coming down in the recent time).

More so the contract is not that bad at over 450m for a school.

Let Sujimoto go and clear his name.

5.7 billion paid upfront to build 22 schools without equipment seems okay.

Sujimoto obviously was in financial mess before the contract was awarded and just diverted the money to his troubled projects in Lagos thinking government slow and corrupt bureaucracy will work in his favour.
He is also well connected even to Aso rock hence the stalling, nonchalant attitude towards the state government.
Apparently, Peter Mbah na no nonsense man who takes no prisoners.

Enugu State Government awarded such massive project to an individual who lacks the capacity to execute it.
The Governor was probably swayed by Sujimoto Instagram pictures of his high rise condos in Lagos.

Next time, they should have tested his capacity with maybe like 3 or 4 schools
