Yes. During preliminary review, you can update it to the correct document.

I noticed my wait time has been changing from 2-8 weeks to 1-2 weeks back and forth for like 2 weeks now. Does anyone here understand why?

Thank you. So, once I qualify for the Skilled Worker route, I won’t need to provide proof of language proficiency anymore.
Hannania:
You can literally pass A1 German in 2 weeks which cost way less than IELTs. If you're going via HND, you have no choice than to to DAB. Do it and qualify as a skilled worker

Thank you for your contribution. We are all here to learn and support each other in achieving our goals. I understand that we can correct one another, as nobody is perfect. Please, let’s not turn against each other. I pray we all achieve our dreams. God bless you, brother.
cyberbro:
You're the one with limitations here, especially with understanding and accepting corrections and facts. Telling people they can learn German and pass A1 all in 2 weeks and that this is cheaper than IELTS is complete garbage but you have an ego issue cos people mention you here for info.

I taught German for 5 years in Nigeria before moving to the UK, but you know everything better because you're active on this thread. 😏

Oya, tell us how you finished the entire A1 syllabus: nouns (Nomen), pronouns, cases (nominativ, akkusativ, dativ), present and past tense (Präteritum, Perfekt), adjectives and adjective endings, adverbs, letter writing (Brief Schreiben) Modal verbs, Numbers in German, just to mention a few, and you somehow managed to prepare for Lesen, Schreiben, Hören and Sprechen, all within 2 weeks... You think it's everyone you can give lamba? 🙃

I really pity those following you without doing their own research. That was how you advised someone not to send a feedback for correction on the portal, claiming the embassy could see his comment in real-time as if the portal was a chat site, and the guy ended up having his application struck out because he didn't send for correction. I am sure even the guy couldn't trace it back to your advice.

Anyways, continue...

Nobody is turning on anyone my bro, just setting the records straight. Look at my initial comment and the gentle way I corrected him and look at his response.

I simply told the guy not to exaggerate by telling people they can learn German at A1 level and also pass the exam within 2 weeks, it simply isn't feasible. Even the combined cost is more than the cost of IELTS.

When someone believes he knows it all and cannot be corrected, that is nothing but pride and ego. I don't dig that at all.

God bless you! 🙏🏽

No you won't. Though the requirements might change because some consular offices are not stable

Wow. I like how you broke down the German language syllabus, it shows you're really knowledgeable in that area.

This is why people must do their own research and not just swallow information online out of laziness.

I know Goethe classes take about 3 months to complete one level (A1) and it could be faster abroad if it's intensive, but not like passing such an exam from scratch within 2 weeks. To even master the basics of the language would take at least 1 month of daily classes, then you have to prep for the exam, so 2 weeks is highly unrealistic.

Nice info bro! 👍🏽

I'm glad you get my point perfectly. His comment was clearly misleading and he refused to accept correction.

And you're right about Goethe. Their class is 3 months per level in Nigeria. A 'super intensive' class might be completed within 4 to 6 weeks of DAILY classes lasting several hours, but the exam itself would require added time and effort, cos it's one thing to learn the language, it's another thing to prepare for the exam.

But 2 weeks for someone with no prior knowledge in the language is a big joke. Only someone who hasn't learned a foreign language can write such things.

Hello guys,

I have a question. Are i still gonna be on the waiting list even if my documents are not complete yet? I have not filled out three sections because my reference (sponsor) is not available yet. Or does all sections need to be completed before you are put on the waiting list. My Overview page shows right now that the waiting time is about 2-6 months... Can someone please explain?

Thank you very much.
Re: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by victorygiven: 1:30pm On Sep 04, 2025
You must complete all sections before submission. However, you can upload a placeholder document for now and update it later when they ask you to submit for preliminary review. This way, you can still secure a spot on the waiting list even if your documents are not yet finalized.

I believe you mean well, but try not to misinform people by exaggerating certain things while you're trying to help.

Passing German (Start Deutsch A1) in 2 weeks for someone who hasn't learnt German for at least 2 months is very unrealistic and in most cases impossible, especially when you're not in Germany.
Also, the cost of learning German + Goethe A1 exam fee isn't cheaper than doing IELTS exam, which, as an English speaker, you can even prepare on your own and pass without paying for any class.
You don’t appear from nowhere to talk down on someone who have been here and guided us from the beginning just because you noticed or felt something he said isn’t right. For your information @Hannania is the most informed person as far as chancekarte is involved.
He has rendered immense help to a lot of us and he’s the reason this thread that you’re coming to make corrections is alive. You know all these and you won’t come out to advise people. Na correction time you go wan show yourself.
Please you’re distracting us. Allow us to concentrate

Not like you deserve any response, but I am not correcting anyone to show superiority, it's for the general public who are reading and following the thread. If you don't like that, you're free to leave cos this is a public forum.

When he misinformed Helenaaa *not to send his correction on the portal* and the person's application was eventually deleted on the portal, nobody held him accountable, not even the guy, now he is saying another thing he doesn't know and everyone should keep quiet because you depend on him?

LOL I don't even have your time. Whatever you say is for yourself alone. EOD.

Cyberbro's initial comment acknowledged the guy's helpful intention and was only corrective, it was the other guy who responded wrongly. Should we say because someone is helpful they can't be corrected or what? No na! 🙄

In order not to derail the thread, stop quoting someone if you don't like their opinion so as not to escalate things.

How do you address an issue without quoting the context. I was surprised he knows a few things and refused advising people who needed it but was quick to condemn @Hannania over a minor thing. I advised since he’s been on ghost mode let him remain there rather than rush to disparage someone’s effort.

Hey bro please can you explain what you mean by some consular offices are not stable.

And also for people who have done their Goethe A1 exam, how long did it take for the results and physical certificate to come out?

I believe the result comes out under one month. Though I wrote mine some years ago. The results can even be viewed online.

Quick one please, for some of us with a very busy 9-5 schedule, is there a flexible option with Goethe Institute? Do they also have self-paced virtual classes? How does it work in this regard? Also, are there weekend classes? Thanks

Thank you chief, I also have another question if you don't mind. Can anyone who runs a business over there offer employment or does the business need to have a sponsorship permit as obtainable in the UK?
Hannania:
Use Stepstone, Xing, indeed and Facebook groups. You have higher chances if you can speak A2 to B1 German
