Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, has expelled Abdulmumin Kofa, a member of the House of Representatives over alleged anti-party activities.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that Mr Kofa, representing Kiru/Bebeji federal constituency, in a char with any online media outlet, DCL on Friday had declared his plans to leave the NNPP.

Mr Kofa also stated that he supported the ruling party to win election in Kano just as he returned to the red chamber under its umbrella in 2023 elections.

But at a press conference in Kano on Saturday, the state’s Chairman of NNPP, Hashim Dungurawa, announced Mr Kofa’s dismissal, saying that the decision followed his repeated media outbursts against the party and its leadership.

Mr Dungurawa described Mr Kofa as a “weak politician” whose electoral success was only made possible through the Kwankwasiyya movement and NNPP platform, not personal strength.

“If he was truly strong politically, he would have won his election under the APC, but he failed.

“It was when he joined NNPP through Kwankwasiyya that he became a House of Reps member. Now he is deceiving himself thinking he is strong,” Mr Dungurawa said.

The NNPP chairman disclosed that a reconciliation committee had initially been set up to engage Mr Kofa after his interview with Channels Television, but said a subsequent media outing proved he had crossed the line.

“Instead of dialogue, he went further to work against our interest, openly declaring loyalty outside the party. That is why we expelled him. He has no value to add,” the chairman said.

MR Dungurawa further accused Mr Kofa of defaulting in the payment of mandatory party dues, vowing that NNPP would institute legal action to recover the funds.

“We will drag him to court to recover what he owes the party. It is a constitutional requirement for every member to pay dues, but he has consistently failed to do so,” he added.

On speculations that Mr Jibrin may return to the APC, Mr Dungurawa said such a move would not affect NNPP’s strength, stressing that “politics is about groups and coalitions” and Kwankwasiyya remains solidly behind its leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Lol. Clearly, he spoke out of turn in his Channels interview, but I think NNPP would have left him to dig his own grave by decamping to the APC. There would be no alliance between Kwankwaso and Tinubu in 2027 because the APC will struggle to build momentum in the North. That door has closed, yet the rift between Tinubu and Shettima will manifest even more leading into the election. The Northeast is gone, and what is coming is heavy!

He had't left yet but it was inevitable. He has failed to bring in Kwankwaso as Tinubu wanted and was on his way out anyway.

We will welcome him back to APC wholeheartedly if this is true. For us in APC, it’s the more the merrier. During the last bye election in Kano, APC and NNPP won a seat each. That speaks to the almost equal strength of the two parties in the state. Kwakwanso can win the state again in 2027 and Tinubu will come a close second like 2023.

Lol. What happened to your garrulous permutation? Is Kwankwaso no longer coming to APC again? Why then did Tinubu embarass Ganduje to resign by displaying his corrupt file before him? Abdulmuminu Jibrin was chased out of APC by Ganduje, lost his election and only got re-eleected when he aligned with Kwankwaso. It's also interesting how you all from the SW will bat no eyelid about dropping Kashim Shettima as VP despite everything.

His suspension is long overdue. You cannot be in NNPP and declare your support for a known failure.

When and how did rmk tell you he was moving to apc ....why does he even need to,he can still work with whomever he pleases right from his own party as tinubu did for gej in 2011 with acn......ganduje has never come out to cry to anyone that he was pushed out,he has been adequately settled for the job well done and he still holds the apc structure in his state.....the way you guys keep cooking up permutations just to suite your warped narrative gives you guys up as an already defeated lot just consoling themselves......your coalition is still rudderless and your obi is still loosing steam by the day and can't even be confident enough to muster his own strength come 27.

All you wrote here are you wishes, not the current realities, you wish one imaginary and powerful voice will resonate from the North and declare Asiwaju a person of non granta in the North.
