Former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, Dr. Sam Amadi has claimed that human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju is a supporter of President Bola Tinubu.

The claim followed Adeyanju’s constant attacks on the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in 2023, Peter Obi.

DAILY POST reports that the controversial lawyer had in a series of posts on X warned that if the coalition of opposition leaders field Obi for the 2027 election, he (Deji) would vote for Tinubu.

His stance had fueled speculations that he may be silently working for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, but the lawyer had since denied that.

Reacting to one of his provocative posts against Obi, Amadi wrote on X,

“You are a Tinubu supporter; I am an Obi supporter. You have a good (personnel) reason for your support. You are within your right”.

Sharing the post, Deji said Amadi’s “tears are tasty”, insisting that if Obi should secure the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, a party adopted by the coalition, he would not hesitate to cast his vote for APC.

He wrote, “Your tears are tasty the Doc, my able lecturer. I will openly vote Tinubu with my full chest if the opposition makes the mistake of presenting your candidate.

“I will help Tinubu secure a second term the way you guys helped him in 2023 by dividing opposition votes.”

The title is misleading. He is not a Tinubu supporter and never said he supports him. He only said he will vote for Tinubu if the party of the person he's arguing with selects Obi as their flag bearer.

Not a very thoughtful statement though because it can be easily mistranslated as it was in this case. But the title is misleading.

Arguing that Obi’s presidential bid would only work in favour of Tinubu, Soludo said, “Indeed, if I were Asiwaju Tinubu, I would even give Peter Obi money as someone heading one of the departments of his campaign, because Obi is making Tinubu’s pathway to victory much easier by indirectly pulling down PDP.”

Obi, according to Soludo, would only deplete the votes of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and pave the path for an APC victory.

How many votes can Adeyanju mobilise for a candidate? We expect most Yoruba who are popular online to commit to voting Tinubu otherwise they will be termed betrayers and be forever blamed for the impending defeat that awaits Tinubu in 2027.

Addressing APC supporters on the need to deliver votes, Tinubu said handsome cash rewards await those who can deliver votes for the party.

He said he would not make mistakes of the past where people would collect money in advance and not deliver on election day.

Tinubu added, “Those of you that say you come to Bourdillon for mobilisation, it is mobilisation that we are doing here or don’t you understand? Definitely, if you know people in your neighbourhood, our members, how we used to do.

“They would surround me like the way ants surround sugar but they duped me; calling for mobilisation funds as if they are not all from the same neighbourhood.

“For this one, even if your footwear is worn-out, as long as you can deliver on votes, I guarantee that I’ll pay you money that will surprise you. May we not lack!

“Definitely, if you know people in your neighbourhood, who are our members, you should be able to call them out. If you’re a registered member, go out and vote. Vote and let it be much, and when I see the result, that’s when I’ll bring out money that is worthwhile for you.”
