Hello,

Please, I wanted to ask some questions,

I'm filling out my Expatrio blocked account application.

For

What is your source of funds? "PRIVATE MEANS" correct?

What is your source of wealth? "PRIVATE MEANS" correct?

Which country serves as your primary tax residence? "NIGERIA" correct?

TAX ID Number... How do I get this, I don't have one.

Note; the account will be funded from Germany.

Please, kindly treat as urgent.

And, after this application, I do not need another student health insurance, right?

Daniel2802:
Opened up my Expatrio account, awaiting approval but I have already gotten an email for health insurance. I am in the stage of submitting supporting documents.

For School reports, I am thinking primary school testimonial, primary school testimonial and WAEC result.

For University degree does the school certificate suffice or I have to also add a transcript?

Because each tab supports uploading one document, do I merge everything for each tab as one document and upload it? or do I upload one there and the rest to Other Documents tab?

For those who have recently gotten invite for preliminary, I was wondering what the timeline is from then to when you attend visa interview and then get visa issued.
Re: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by Diceman8: 9:56pm On Sep 06, 2025
From history it should be 1 week preliminary review depending on how fast youre able to do any corrections if any, and for the appointment its said to be about 1 week to find your next date, by this i mean if for example you finish preliminary review on 1st of september the next date for appointment is usually about a week away. And finally the processing time for the visa is about 3 weeks minimum. So in reality youre looking at 1-1.5month from preliminary review to recieving your visa.

Thank you chief, I also have another question if you don't mind. Can anyone who runs a business over there offer employment or does the business need to have a sponsorship permit as obtainable in the UK?
All you need is a valid contract that meets the salary threshold of that particular field. They'll verify it
Re: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by Singlefile(m): 2:19pm On Sep 07, 2025
My friends, please help me with these questions. I was recently offered an employment contract in July, but since the salary did not meet the Blue Card requirements, I couldn't process my visa through the consulate portal. My contract stated that I was supposed to start work on September 1st.

To avoid wasting the opportunity, I applied for a regular work visa in August, even though the waiting time is over a year. I also decided to apply for an Opportunity Card, as I qualified for it. In my application, I used the work contract as a substitute for the blocked account or declaration of commitment.

I know the work contract is supposed to be part-time at 20 hours per week, but mine is full-time at 38 hours.

Now that the intended start date of September has passed, will they require me to submit an updated contract when my turn comes? Or will they still demand a part-time work contract? I'm concerned that by that time, the company may no longer need my services to meet any further requirements.

The only part of your question i can answer is this part.

- As an Opportunity Card holder, you're permitted to work part-time up to 20 hours per week. This is often referred to as "secondary employment" during your job search stay

- These jobs can be in any field - they don't necessarily have to relate to your specific profession or qualifications.

- The Opportunity Card also explicitly allows for job trials, also known as trial employment, for up to two weeks per employer

- So if you already have an employer that means you have already gotten a full time job and you dont have to work 20hrs a week as long as its related to your field

@Hannania

I applied for ZAB statement of comparability on the 15-08-25 but unable to meet up with the payment deadline 14-09-25 due to some personal financial constraints.
I intended to pay in the last week of september.i have sent them message of extension of deadline but no response yet.

Do I cancel the application and re-apply so that I would have a new deadline or still wait for their response?

The reasonable option is to keep sending reminder emails. If it's not effected after the deadline has elapsed, check and see if you can still make payment. If not, then reapply and make the payment. Either way, it all goes down to when you're ready to make payment, because that's the day your 2 or 3 months window of waiting starts counting

I wasn't asked to make any corrections, I was only sent an email that my application was being reviewed last week and then got this yesterday. No other reasons was provided

In a bid to help, I looked through your previous posts and saw where you mentioned that your current SL expires in October and it was issued for only 6 months since April. Did you update the SL before preliminary review? If not, that was probably the reason it was cancelled.

I am not too sure about the 6-months SL being acceptable in Nigeria cos there's been several back and forth on that issue, but the expiry in October makes total sense as to why it was cancelled.

Just my personal opinion. The embassy should be able to explain better.

I think you are supposed to select opportunity card or chancenkarte in that place where “ I am applying as”
Not skilled worker, except you’re not using the correct link. I stand to be corrected tho.

Thanks for your input, my point probably came across wrong as my SL is not 6 months, it's for 5 years just like the standard SL done in Germany. What i meant to say was that it was issued in April and will expire by October if not used. The SL expires withing 6 months of issuance if not used for any visa application from what i read.

I'll try to reach out to the embassy as well. Does anyone know the correct email as I can see multiple emails online

Ah, I get it! 😅
I was totally confused by the 6 month validity cos I know Verpflichtungserklärung (SL) lasts longer. Thanks for clarifying.

The standard email is info@lago.diplo.de I believe, but you can also use the official digital.diplo contact us page to mail them.

Yes, I’m actually the person being referred to here. To be honest, I knew my account being blocked was connected to my choice to follow @Hannania’s advice at the time, but I accepted it and moved on. What else could I do? It had already happened.

Looking back, I don’t blame anyone. I should have trusted my own intuition and handled it differently. I also don’t want people to dismiss the person who shared that advice; he’s genuinely trying to help, share knowledge, and carry everyone along.

What I’ve learned (and said before in this forum) is: always do your own research. Follow the threads and listen to others who may know more, but, at the end of the day, cross-check and confirm things for yourself, especially when you feel confused or stuck.

In my case, I've lost time. My application was blocked and I had to start over.

Fortunately, things later worked out, and my new application was somewhat fast-tracked because of what happened. After a lot of back-and-forth, I’m back in and am now trying to schedule my interview/submission appointment.

The moral is that this could have been avoided. Had there been clearer guidance, even a simple 'I don't know' instead of 'No need to send for correction. The Embassy see it in real-time', I probably would have submitted on time and might even have had my visa by now, like @Haliimmaa, who submitted around the same period.

So please learn from me: don’t rely solely on anyone’s advice, no matter how helpful they seem. Double-check, do your own due diligence, and don’t get carried away. If you lose your application, you’ll be starting over again and with the pool getting bigger by the day, delays will only get longer.

Wishing everyone the best, let’s all put in our best effort and stay on top of our own applications.

cyberbro:
You're the one with limitations here, especially with understanding and accepting corrections and facts. Telling people they can learn German and pass A1 all in 2 weeks and that this is cheaper than IELTS is complete garbage but you have an ego issue cos people mention you here for info.

I taught German for 5 years in Nigeria before moving to the UK, but you know everything better because you're active on this thread. 😏

Oya, tell us how you finished the entire A1 syllabus: nouns (Nomen), pronouns, cases (nominativ, akkusativ, dativ), present and past tense (Präteritum, Perfekt), adjectives and adjective endings, adverbs, letter writing (Brief Schreiben) Modal verbs, Numbers in German, just to mention a few, and you somehow managed to prepare for Lesen, Schreiben, Hören and Sprechen, all within 2 weeks... You think it's everyone you can give lamba? 🙃

I really pity those following you without doing their own research. That was how you advised someone not to send a feedback for correction on the portal, claiming the embassy could see his comment in real-time as if the portal was a chat site, and the guy ended up having his application struck out because he didn't send for correction. I am sure even the guy couldn't trace it back to your advice.

Anyways, continue...

I love your "Never say Die" spirit
I guess we won't be notified via email. It seems one has to keep checking at regular interval for available appointment date.
I also have a question. Have you done your insurance?, and which one did you do?
I tried Dr. Walter but I need some guidance on how to go about it while trying to get my appointment date.
