Tactically Chelle is not sure of himself. He's just winging it.
My quote of the day.

but i will say i like this team .... the depth is good . ... we may not qualify but the team is getting robust with some interesting players , we are unlucky not to have Osimhen on the pitch , he would have charged them up the way Bassey dd . so far Bassey is the man of the match
I will pick Frederick as MOTM
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Starboytwo(m): 7:16pm On Sep 09, 2025
I expected 1-1 anyway...

If I'm south Africa, I will be Hella physical too.

Good game.
Nothing spoil.

Aina going out early did it for me. 🤦

Why start dessers tho? I don't understand.
Even if Tolu no score, his height alone will drag with the defence all day...

So impressed with Bassey. He should be wearing the armband. Remove the goal, he fought a battle... He is the Osimhen of our backline.

Again, fair result. Nothing we fit do pass Wetin we do. na South Africa na, I'd give them little respect. But later, I discover say dem no good like that... But no be dem say make we draw 5 afcon qualifiers....

Shout out to everyone here. God bless us and the Super Eagle.

Exactly I enjoyed the games... They keep their heads up and fought with their lungs. Unfortunately all odds are against us let us use the remaining two matches for afcon prep. Eric should start preparing for afcon
6 points may land us in playoff. It's worth trying.

Finally we can now rest and hope we start to do the right thing as a nation. I salute the boys. They fought well. South Africa really prepared for us in terms of Sabotaging super eagles. It showed in their goalie how jittery he was. Our coach still dey learn work no doubt. But no coach would like to be on a backfoot even before his job starts. It is what it is. Maybe some old guards can start exiting the stage.

More to come later on the NFF

Na hand I use before. Chelle has no blame in this. This qualifier was lost after 4 games. He only came on remedial mission and didn't do badly.

I don't single out players for blame but our previous saviour: Ekong failed us.
Today's game: Remove 2 points from RSA and add 2 to Nigeria's own.
Against Zimbabwe: add 2 points to ours again and see where we would have been.
This is how the table would have looked like without those errors:
RSA 16pts
Nig 15pts
It’s sad we threw this away, that Zimbabwe match was a killer, two precious points flew out in mins. The players are to be blamed those who keep blaming the coach I don’t understand

6 points will take us to 17 points, seven of the second placed team is already on 15, it's over bro

You can only have one winner in an AFCON. So it's excusable. But we can't boast of being in the top 10 to qualify for World Cup is not excusable especially when it's back to back. We need an overhaul of the NFF. IF ONLY NIGERIANS WILL SHOUT THEM TO RESIGN.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by joelsteron: 7:18pm On Sep 09, 2025
Moses Simon had no business in this game after Rwanda match.

Is it impossiblehuh? Nigeria is on 10 points
11pts rather. The highest we can gather now is 17. It will take something crazy for all those in blue to not finish on higher points

We need to stop blaming coaches and players and referees for once. The problem is at the NFF

uche put a bad shot. But uche brings the physicality that we have been lacking in our midfield.
There was a ball from him over the top to Tolu, that was beautiful to watch.

We didn't tried our best, Chelle rather tried his best. 4 qualifying matches, 8 points. If Peseiro, Eguavoen and Finidi had given us same 8 points in the first 4 matches, we would have been on 16 points right now
Exactly. He almost did 12pts but for Elkong's twin error.

The players tried but this is all on Chelle. When I pointed that the first half formation was wrong, some people here said he's the coach and we don't know what we are saying. Although he corrected all his mistakes in the second half,if he had started the right way, then he would instead have used the substitutions to change the game instead of using it to correct his mistakes. I hope going forward he starts thinking properly and stop over complicating things and putting players in wrong positions. That own goal is on him,Moses and lookman should never play at the same time bassey is a Cb not a lb,iwobi isn't a cm.
Bassey can play as a CB or LB he's equally good in both positions.

No be the LB freedom let am score?

Captain that couldn't mark the Zimbabwean came around and got an own goal. Quite sad though.

Your back line flourished against Rwanda, tell me why bring back Ekong. Eric Chelle tried but learn his lesson too late by taking him off.

I don't want to talk about Finidi and Peseiro now. undecided

Ekong and Simon need to be eased out of the team
Ndidi can still do a job
But we really need to give onyedika games
Iwobi can still do a job

I disagree
Chelle handled this game well
SA players were ready to die today
They obviously wanted it more
But Chelle did well
Do you realize apart from the own goal, SA didn't have any clear cut chance?

I also didn't understand why he started fisayo
But that decision was justified..

If Chelle has started our world Cup qualifiers, I'm 100% sure we would have topped out group
Am not one of those blaming any coach o! Chelle has done his best in the wcq. 13 points is what we would have had now but for the carelessness of the players against Zimbabwe. No matter which coach you appoint if our players are not taking enough responsibility these are the kind of results we will continue to get

Walahi, and he makes the right subs ASAP. I said this man is building a team.

Which of our previous coaches can sub out Ekong at halftime? The man no send, once you eff up, you're out. Our biggest bane in this Qualifiers have been missing chances. He subbed in Uche, Uche's freekick almost resulted in a goal for Lookman.

Overhyped players. Shame on all of them. Later in future some of these today's players will come to the media and say they gave their all to Nigeria playing for the NT but the Nigeria government has forgotten them
It makes me sad when bad coaching heaps losses on us and players get the blame.
These players sacrifice their club careers just to make their nation proud, and all you have to call them is overhyped.

These players get career threatening injuries putting their bodies in line.
That football pitch is another issue.

Time for Akinsanmiro,Eletu, Ogbu and Frederick to be eagles main players..... Frederick justified my confidence in him....well Ekong was averaged at best but surprised many in the last Afcon,Eagles made him but naturally he is not a good ball player, average in reading the games and reason for having 3 or 4 national team own goals
