Yes because you need a strong FA with good administration and competent coaches who know what they are doing..
Otherwise you just have a group of individuals and not a team, as we have found out ourselves

Lookman was made to look ordinary today.
I was almost embarrassed!!

Has anyone of them ever played for free? Owe they one match bonus and watch them run to the social media to berate the NFF. Since they have never played for free, it's not sacrifice to the Nation, rather it's the country that gave them th opportunity that should be praised. Just one match bonus can pay 10 doctors for 10 months.
How much is being paid them as match bonuses.
Let's be honest here.

These players played their hearts out.

If you understand the art of war, you will appreciate the importance of a brilliant and experienced general.
A general that knows the individual strengths and weaknesses of his fighting personnel and how to utilise them.

I'm telling you. Now that I think of it, with the stage we are in presently in terms of squad depth and efficiency, we've been excellent over the past few games. We have no business defeating a South African side that has worked hard and hustled to where they are now. Then we wey just carry new coach come after years of unseriousness and dilly-dallying and confusion from Peseiro to Finidi will now beat them out of nowhere.

I know football is a game that comes with a lot of surprises and it can favor you on a good day, but in hindsight, we were really pushing our luck with this game.
Exactly
South Africa deserve to go to the world Cup
We just wake up
Let's take our chances with the play off spots and hope for the best
But no, it would have been unfair for them to lose our after being so excellent since MD 1

He already went with us in 2018 and ever since he left, we haven't. That says a lot. He has nothing to prove to anyone. The ultimate insult would be if he finds a way to qualify Benin who we're currently on the same points with grin
If he qualify Benin make we go bring am back o cos lightning no Dey strike twice 😂

na they would deduct two points from nigeria as we drew home and away with the least team on the table and the other teams that won home and away against the least team in the table they would deduct 6 points because of eritrea withrawal but the chances are quite slim even with that also
It is not clear if FIFA will follow on that. CAF did it FIFA might not.

Secondly Zimbabwe may not even end at the bottom. It could also be Lesotho. And that will potentially be a six point deduction making the whole thing meaningless.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Diavolo: 8:27pm On Sep 09, 2025
This was my take before the game. At half time what substitutions did Chelle make, the same thing I said. He took out Ekong, put bassey back to Cb and put a proper lb. Our goal came through a cross from the right side because the south Africans already overloaded the left so lookman changed wing and we were able to get a cross in. I don't remember any good cross from the left throughout the game. Moses as usual didn't play anything of note so he didn't need to have started as pointed out. I hope Chelle takes time to study his players carefully before Afcon. It's not just by putting 11 players on the pitch,it's putting them in their best positions to maximize their strengths and make the sum of their output greater than the individual players. If he doesn't figure that out, even with our big names we will struggle against unknown players who are well organized and are a team.
Diavolo:
I give up on Chelle. He's top stubborn in his ways for his own good. Fredrick is a Cb,so is it going to be bassey to lb or aina to lb and Fredrick to Rb. Why not put Felix agu as lb if you don't want to use oyemachi.
Also we have tried it more than 50 times and hasn't even worked, iwobi isn't a dm or cm,he's either an Amf or winger. Moses and lookman don't do well together because they both occupy the same spaces with iwobi also drifting to the left which leaves our right side of attack non existent. Putting lookman on the right also nullifies his strength. So no need having both of them at the same time.Teams have figured this out by overloading the left side and our attack becomes toothless. Instead of using one wing,we need to use both to stretch the game. Wrong personnel choice and player positioning as always. We will be lucky to get a draw.

Am not one of those blaming any coach o! Chelle has done his best in the wcq. 13 points is what we would have had now but for the carelessness of the players against Zimbabwe. No matter which coach you appoint if our players are not taking enough responsibility these are the kind of results we will continue to get
It falls on the coach to pick his players and work with them.

SA does not deserve anything they were unduly favoured by FIFA and CAF allowing Lesotho and Zimbabwe to play their home games in SA. That’s so unfair

I think because of how crucial the game was he felt Ekong experience could help. It’s what any coach will do cos if things turn south too we for blame am say e no start Ekong. You can see he brought Ekong in the previous game to finish off things. It was just bad day in the office for the captain.
Gbam... Well well well said.

Plus Benjamin Fredrick played against Rwanda, yes, he was good but any coach will want to start Ekong because of how big this game is. Even subbing out Ekong and putting Fredrick was like him saying "omo, anything wey wan happen now, make e happen, let the boy play", and now that the boy still had a solid game, I'm sure Chelle won't make that mistake again. He no dey forget and he no dey fear anybody.

Benjamin made 12 clearances o, for someone that played just 45 mins.

Bassey and Fredrick are a match made in heaven.

Diavolo:
so you can't figure out that putting a right footed slow Cb on the left side of the defence carries the risk that he can do an own goal when dealing with low crosses coming in from the left?. It's basic principle. If bassey was in Ekong position,he would have cleared it with his left leg rather than Ekong having to awkwardly position his body to clear with his right leg leading to the own goal
Tell them.

Bad coaching.

They won't still get it.

Benjamin Fredrick played 90mins, Bassey who was at LB, went to CB when Ekong was substituted for Onyemaechi

Just forget our FA please reason I said they are a disgrace how can your opponent play most of their games in their own country. The North Africans from day 1 after seeing the match schedules would have raised objections but our FA just have this attitude we can always find a way to win but am happy this has happened so we as fans too can begin to shout early enough when see these things. It’s obvious all the champions league the North African clubs win are not just on the pitch alone.

The question we have failed to answer is when we had out chance to bury certain matches... what were we doing? Imagine if we had won those 1st 3games? Ther e would have been less pressure on us. Let is leave South Africa and fifa out of this. Truth be told, I didn't want south Africa to lose the ticket cos they worked hard whether by crook or crude. Most definitely
They play the politics very well and back it up with ruthless results on the pitch

Our FA no be am true true..
If we are to truly take our football to the next level, we need a massive overhaul of the whole NFF setup from top to bottom..
But only an Abacha type leader can try that.. and besides, FIFA doesn't allow government interference in football matters
Na why NFF dey get away with all the rubbish they do
