JohnBullMySon:South Africa will always be better in possession cos of their style and cohesion but as a home side they were not really a threat even their coach in a supersports interview after the match admitted his team were not better in the second half and acknowledged the superior fighting power of our team. He was so relieved to show how scared they were! |

If you waited till this game before you accepted the die is cast, apologies. Sha edit the thread title. After that draw vs Lesotho in Uyo, i began to reason that Presido will rather ensure his country qualifies before he leaves than see Naija edge them out if push came to shove. We ought to put up a fight but we handed it over to them easy. We switched to renewed hope on deductions of 3 points until we all saw that Fifa tweet that gave us the hint that NOTHING go sup for that angle. The guys in nff love calculators. The Texas Instrument kind. They love rubbish hopes too. All of them deserve to be fired. I see they wrote one nonsensical media piece, trying to scapegoat Cyriel Dessers when the ship was wrecked since the Finidi era. That era was fascinating cos it was one of the era that those that clamored for a local coach came out more. They chanted passionately about local league players inclusion, writing what nots about the 80s and 90s asif we time traveled 30years back. Enyimba go chop goals in caf competition. Watching the game alone makes one know they were not any better than a NuGA games team. Sadly, their relevance in African football hangs on their heroics 2 decades ago. Else, they're a perfect lump of the sorry bunch of mediocrity that sums up our local league. Remo Stars can't wash off this stench. To show workings, think pieces will need to be drowned. I hear Mathematical is part of the problem we are in currently. Its been a while i read any article from that side. Perhaps he dropped the pen for the calculator as well. We have 2/top 5 attackers in Africa right now and both are going to miss the WC AGAIN!!! WE had a system that was working and tried to fix it as though broken. And now what we have is just rubbles from the collapse. Instead of retrospect, we are seeing arrogance from the media officer of the NFF. Was it not last week we say similar vitriol at Favor Ofili from the federation spokesman that should be fired by now for such foolish comments? To say we go dey alright don taya person. It is crickets when you realize that Tolu and a defender in Bassey are the only 2 goalscorers in last 3 games for this team. One can't imagine this team was afcon finalist last year. Another mundial miss is accepted. Miracles?! That's away from our level for now. Make we leave What if for DC and Marvel Comics!!! |

Nigerians should relax, winning away in Africa is not moin moin. The team had tried to even win away in Rwanda, it’s the loss against Benin away in a neutral place in Ivory Coast and the draw against Zimbabwe in uyo that has caused us this mess. I salute the coach and the players for the job done in SA, that was a fair result to be honest in the light of the terrible way we played last week in uyo. |

Goke7:You don’t get it. The tempo of a football game is shaped by what the two teams need to get out of it. In a crucial game where RSA needs a draw and NGA needs a win, as the game gets close to the end, it is expected that NGA should dominate the attack more as the opponent starts to manage the game. Cos that’s how football works. If NGA attack was really good, we should have sat RSA in their box in the closing minutes cause they’re already managing the game. Did anything like that happen? They even created more attack chances sef. |

charlesemeka85:Exactly compared to what they played us in the afcon they were not that impressive. It was even some defensive blunders from us that gave them the number of shots they have. Nothing really special jor |

Goke7:people actually wanted win badly…but this game today was a vey good one at best…just formation and selection errors kinda…..Tolu and Uche starting that game would have made a huge impact |

JohnBullMySon:On that yeye pitch? Are you sure it’s the same game we watched? There were odds against us in this game; the pitch, the fatigue from previous game travel whereas SA travelled no where, bad officiating even though we benefited with the goal, and finally the antics from the host prior to the game. We will be too hard blaming the players for this game. |

This NFF has finished Nigerian football 3 coaches to prosecute our Qualifiers nothing to show Even Benin republic has overtaken us They won 4-0 over Lesotho South Africa 17 points Benin republic 14 points Nigeria 11 points |

It’s unfair trying to scapegoat Dessers and whoever released that statement is a terrible person. I won’t be surprised if the player decides not to turn up again for us. For a player who publicly desired to play competitive games for us to be scapegoated like this is despicable. Arrant nonsense |

MetalJigsaw:So we should sack Chelle and appoint Amunike now because we couldn't bear South Africa? I supported Amunike too then. I'm a Siasia supporter but you see this qualifier, Chelle did nothing wrong. His invitation is on merit. He can only learn. If I were to meet him one on one, my advice would be: Don't listen to NFF, fans and journalist; choose your team based on merit and stick to your decisions. |

This Lesotho didn't play ultra defending game against South Africa and Benin. Next month against Nigeria all of them will stay in their 18 |

Pythagoras001:They didn't play this way against Nigeria. They played ultra defensive and were lucky to get that breakaway goal. We laboured, miss chances before we finally equalised. |

Goke7:the guy is funny, South Africa that did not travel at all, in an altitude they are used to, you expect Nigeria to press them for 90 minutes, are people just being emotional or actually analyzing football holistically. |

elyte89:Lol, if the NFF actually said/posted this, then they'll need to show me the exact passes the midfielders and wingers/fullbacks gave to Dessers that he was too slow to latch on to. We all watched the match. That midfield was totally dead in the first half. Or is it Moses Simon's terribly attempted crosses that they're referring to? ![]() The midfield was so terrible today that the only reason Tolu had that chance to score early in the second half was because Lookman dropped deep into our own half and released a long ball quickly in behind S.A's defense so there was enough space for Tolu to run and dribble. Tolu's second chance to score in the second half also came from Chrisantus Uche's long ball from the midfield in behind S.A's defense. If our midfielders/fullbacks had taken advantage of Dessers' numerous diagonal runs in behind S.A's tight defense in the first half, especially when he dragged about two defenders with him, we'd probably be celebrating a victory right now. He made those runs again and again but no one gave him an accurate pass, neither did anyone take advantage of the space he created. There'll always be a scapegoat. If it's not Dessers today, it'll be Iwobi tomorrow. That's why I kept saying I didn't want him to play these qualifiers because I know Nigerians. ![]() |

In all this chelle must actually find a way to get our players playing effectively at optimum level, yes not his his fault he has done above average, but we need very good to excellent, and a lot rest in his table. We cannot be struggling to beat minnows, we cannot be loosing or drawing at home,,our stadium must become a fortress, NFF should wake up and actually run football like we are a footballing nation. |

minfelix:Yes that is the only option we have left. Beat Lesotho away and Benin at home to sneak into second spot. Already South Africa have 17pts +8 goals Benin have 14pts +4 goals Nigeria have 11pts +2 goals Rwanda have 11pts +0 goals October games (1st) Lesotho vs Nigeria (We go surely beat them like 5-0) Rwanda vs Benin (May end in a draw) TOUGH MATCH Zimbabwe vs South Africa (South Africa to win) Hopefully South Africa - 20pts Benin- 15pts Nigeria- 14pts Rwanda- 12pts October games (2nd) Nigeria v Benin (We can pip them 1-0) South Africa v Rwanda (It may end in a draw or South Africa may lose) Lesotho vs Zimbabwe (Zimbabwe must draw or lose this match if we much qualify as 2ND) Hopefully South Africa- 21pts/20pts (-3pts) = 18pts/17pts Nigeria - 17pts Benin- 15pts Rwanda- 13pts/15pts Anything can still happen. All fingers crossed till October. |

Goke7:We said it a long time ago. It's possible NFF are part of the ploy. Those guys might even collect bribe to sabotage their country. It's not today Nigerians start conniving with outsiders to scam their country. Ajaokuta steel is an example. |
