Yes that is the only option we have left. Beat Lesotho away and Benin at home to sneak into second spot. Already

South Africa have 17pts +8 goals
Benin have 14pts +4 goals
Nigeria have 11pts +2 goals
Rwanda have 11pts +0 goals

October games (1st)
Lesotho vs Nigeria (We go surely beat them like 5-0)
Rwanda vs Benin (May end in a draw)
South Africa v Zimbabwe ( South Africa likely to win)

Hopefully
South Africa - 20pts
Benin- 15pts
Nigeria- 14pts
Rwanda- 12pts

October games (2nd)
Nigeria v Benin (We can pip them 1-0)
South Africa v Rwanda (It may end in a draw or South Africa may lose)
Zimbabwe Lesotho ( I don't care about this result)

Hopefully
South Africa- 21pts/20pts (-3pts) = 18pts/17pts
Nigeria - 17pts
Benin- 15pts
Rwanda- 13pts/15pts

Anything can still happen. All fingers crossed till October.
Fifa will most likely follow the format of deducting points from all second place teams….there is nothing new they will bring…..

Gambia vs Gabon
Gabon vs Burundi

Mauritius vs Cameroon
Cameroon vs Angola

Togo vs Drc
Drc vs Sudan

Comoros vs Madagascar
Mali vs Madagascar

one of this guys will bottle up things, i smell Madagascar or DRC….our 17 point will get us into play off…make ppl just dey watch

That 3 points don go forget it! If SA can be allowed to play 7 games in their country na points dem go deduct? I no get hope for that one again o ti lo
If they qualify with at least 4 pts difference FIFA/CAF may decide to save face.

It will now be down to who wins their next 2 matches.

I don give up
This is were NFF should be smart enough to play politics and lobby caf to change it from best 4 second place to best 8 second place. chelle has already gotten the rythm with the players and i believe we would win our last 2 matches. if nigeria enter that playoff we have the chance of winning the african play offs and be one of the two teams that qualify from the intercontinental playoffs.

we played a 442 too not a 352. 352 on paper,442 on the pitch
Granted.

Red circle is Ben. Orange is Ekong.

Does it look like that agenda that Chelle put "a slow right footer on the left side"? Ben went left to deal with the danger, there was zero pressure or reason for that own goal. It was exactly the same against Algeria at AFCON 2019

Overall poor performance throughout the qualifying games played so far, averaging 1 goal scored after 8 games in a group made up of Lesotho and Zimbabwe is unacceptable especially when we have players in top leagues abroad.

They should better forget the world cup as other teams have a better goal difference than the SE and they don't deserve to be there next year.

Eguavoen the fraud has taken charge of 2 failed back to back WC qualifiers, first as coach and now as technical director.

Even with the expansion of the teams participating in the event they still failed to qualify.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by AndSunGorilla: 1:28am On Sep 10, 2025
Senegal and CiV qualification still in the balance, closely followed by DRC and Gabon. I honestly don't know what Caoe Verde is going to do at the WC? But it looks like like they would make it at the expense of Cameroon. Cameroon should be able to make it through the top 4 qualifiers though if Senegal and CIV qualify automatically.

So likely African qualifiers are
1. Morocco
2. Tunisia
3. Egypt
4. Algeria
5. Ghana
6. Senegal
7. CiV
8. South Africa
9. Cabo Verde
Morocco & Tunisia home and dry, Egypt, Algeria, Ghana and SA almost there. I will be suporting my fellow west african brothers if they make it to the WC. Viva Africa!!!!

grin For those still hoping we qualify as second best place team, there's no spot available as Gabon are practically through. The other 3 teams just need at least 2 draws over 2 games are were are done.

If you fail to plan from matchday1 don't expect miracles when it matters most.

To even think of such with a goal difference of +2

It's like accumulating terrible grades from your first year in college and expecting a miracle in your final year and graduating with honors

South Africa has one of the world's greatest cricket sides and arguably the best rugby union side in the world at the moment. Their success in those sports stem from world class training facilities, great administration and a robust university varsity sporting system. It was inevitable that all of these strengths would be parlayed into their footballing set up. Congrats to them on the eventual qualification.

I swear you are lucky the Nairaland bots now censor posts that are very harsh and scathing. That's all I will say. You are very lucky, because this pile of garbage you posted up there is the exact reason why our football has remained stagnated for years. Because of myopic sentiments like this.

If Chelle's appointment as SE coach pains you so much, knack your head on the floor ten times and go to sleep.
Your insults and bitterness won't change the fact.

Those are the sad truth

You are the one trying to hang Ekong as the culprit. But look at the bigger picture. Fredrick left RCB to close down the SA winger in the left side of defense because the guy already beat Bassey for pace, and you can clearly see Ekong was running back on a straight line in his LCB position but because he's slow,he's struggling to keep up,when the cross came in,he stretched out his right left to clear a ball from the left side, his awkward body positioning led to the own goal. Chelle himself saw his folly and rectified it in the second half. If after this explanation you still don't get,it's fine. We disagree to agree.

Getting denied qualification by Ghana and South Africa in back to back qualifying years is really shameful.

I like this train of thinking. We need to start deploying the youth that are hungry to perform.

That’s the thing for me. To miss out on WCQ against a Morocco or Egypt, no yawa.

But Ghana and SA, two of our big Anglophone rivals? Haba!

Biggest thing I have learned from this WCQ cycle: you cannot underestimate anyone and the game is played on the pitch, not on paper.

Italy missed out on back to back world cups and could possibly miss out on this one as well.

Nothing can be taken for granted.

The entire framework of the male national teams need serious review.

U17 rubbish
U20 crap
U23 nonsense
Chan useless
SE eyesore

None of them can guarantee you decent game in terms of performance on pitch or scoreline, we've never had it this bad

Chelsea bought him from Charlton good forward player that should not spend too much time in Chelsea youth ranks .
Even his younger brother, Chetam Ezenwata, who is a defender and just 15 years old, is presently training with Charlton’s first team, having already featured for the U21 side.

Mauritius vs Cameroon
Cameroon vs Angola

Togo vs Drc

Comoros vs Madagascar
Mali vs Madagascar

these are the games that will determine wether dey remain in that top 4 second best team

Nigeria lurks behind them…if we win our 2remaining matches we should sneak into this that top 4 second best teams
final qualifiers are less than a month. Away. These are the matches to focus on. And lesotho to draw or not lose to zimbabwe else all these permutation is useless. The points deduction from south africa to lesotho would also help immensely here too.
