The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested two men in separate cases of child defilement, underscoring its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against child abuse, exploitation, and gender-based violence.

Arrests in Zuru and Birnin Kebbi

Police spokesperson DSP Nafiu Abubakar confirmed in a statement that one of the suspects, Amos Jondo of Maliki Bedi village in Zuru Local Government Area, was arrested after allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge of a 10-year-old girl, Vina Shehu, who had been sent on an errand by her mother.

In a separate incident, Mansuru Sani, 48, of Goribbu area, Birnin Kebbi metropolis, was apprehended for allegedly inserting his finger into the private part of five-year-old Aisha Aminu Wala when she went to his shop to buy sweets.

Suspects Arraigned in Court

The Bureau News learned that detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, concluded investigations and subsequently arraigned both suspects in court.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, praised the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Junaidu Bello Marshall, for his swift action in ensuring diligent prosecution of gender-based violence cases.

CP Condemns Incidents

CP Sani strongly condemned the incidents, reassuring residents of the Command’s determination to safeguard vulnerable members of society and ensure justice is served.

He urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children’s movements and promptly report any cases of gender-based violence to the nearest police station.
