You talk as if you have been to all the homes in Nigeria. I can confidently tell you that there are many men who do nothing of the aforementioned chores at home. The worst part is, they are deadbeats and their wives provide for the house hold.

Family is a shared responsibility, not by math or something, it's something the couples together with the children (or not) just do.

Many grew from a loveless home and they are the most vocal, painting wrong narrative about home.

Since the beginning of time, husband and wife have been sharing responsibilities of marriage including cooking and other chores. You're not being woke for demanding that men should do chores. It's just a sign of being raised poorly.

For the first 5 years of my marriage, I was the one going to market to get what she will cook. I ran errand for her in the street before the children grew and took over from me. I took off her the burden to do my laundry as I even run the business. I clean the house sometimes, especially when she is sick or travelled and she usually meet clean home when she returns. I was doing all these to protect her and reduce her stress, despite my heavy shedule.. But guess what, she would always accuse me of not helping at house chores . Me a man who have multiple streams of income and do over 80% financial responsibility( just to even dash her the remaining percent sef) compare to someone who works from home. Yet she wants me to be washing plates and sweeping floor everyday. That's helping house chores to women. If it is a man that sits idly and the woman working her ass, that is even understandable. There are somethings in marriage that doesn't need agreement, some of these young ladies with set of rules in marriage shouldn't have married at all, in my home, I do a lot of chores more than my wife out of my own volution, so there are things in marriage, if you set it as a rule, it becomes cumbersome to do by any of the couple. Any man who pays dowry does so in order to obtain for himself right to be both sole head of household and provider. A woman risks everything , many a times for nothing , in contributing to the finances of the family in that case as tangkble returns on her investment tends to diminish as the marriage(or she ages). 🫤🫤

Technically, no! The traditional getup of marriage assumes there are set roles for the woman, and those roles include doing of chores. Women in those commitments are more or less glorified housemaids.
