You can make VERY GOOD income driving all types of trucks. You do not need any underhand or wayo. You do not need to sell people’s diesel or diesel in any form to get good payment. Tanker drivers are huge risk takers and they earn VERY HANDSOMELY. Drivers are able to build mansions and drive jeeps of their choices. You can enrol to learn truck driving and you will not regret it.

Note that in Nigeria drivers are VERY WELL paid, either when driving for companies or for single truck owners, who do not have registered companies yet. The same goes for truck drivers in the whole of Africa. The same with other continents. But you see, truck drivers earn more heavily in the USA, Canada, Italy, Spain, UK, Australia, Germany, New Zealand etc. Their currencies make Nigerians who work there have a little advantage over those in Nigeria.

Learn truck driving and you will not regret it.
So, the dynamics of Nigeria is different. Apart from the big structured companies, many private individuals hardly pay well, and that's why Dangote is roasting NUPENG.

Abroad, you are paid per distance. Also, time wasted during drop off or pick up is taken into consideration. You can estimate how long you can get to your destination. It's pretty straightforward

Here, you can leave Lagos today, and reach Abuja in 5 days, instead of 3. Also, depending on your network, you can stay days before getting a call to haul. These are factors here.

The people who enjoy the most are those who own their trucks.

Lol......
First....u claim they can't carry anything...now u have shifted to lekki and size of goods being carried ...u pride is high to the heaven......

Runs in fleet management is not short distance moves so I don't get why u are bringing lekki into this issue......is lekki the only route logistics is going on.... Baba u nor get point again... Na insult remain....
Return loads are usually cheaper. So obviously, that load would be priced next to nothing.

Or you think the tomato seller paid 200k for it? grin Joker.

E say na runs.....How much do you think the 50 baskets of Tomatoes will cost?

Tanker drivers have no runs. Once you discharge, run back and load again, so you can make your money.

I hope you come back with pepper baskets and pure water as "Runs"... Comedian grin

Cosidering the current economic situation of the country, and the risk involved in driving those trucks in the horrible Nigerian road, 280k is a very very poor salary for that job abeg even if it is more than a graduate salary. I was expecting 1m. No very qualified heavy duty driver can settle for that pittance, you can easily make that in a week if you can get someone to give you a truck for daily returns. This is main reason Dangote will go and carry small hausa boys who should be driving keke and give them such heavy vehicles to be using to crush people on the road, maiming families for life. Dangote should pay Drivers well, let qualified heavy duty drivers start driving for him instead of keke riders behind 18 wheelers. Imagine this Shylock calling 280k good salary

The solution is for him to start employing graduates as drivers. A minimum of MSC. While he specifically trains them.
This is the foolish thought of Nigerian Graduate- ENTITLEMENT MENTALITY. Even driver job, they should employ them and train them. I swear, our graduate just want to sit on people's head because they are graduates.

Dangote owns the biggest truck driving school in the country. FRSC is the regulatory agency for driving school 🤷🏿
Truck driving school in Nigeria? Never heard of it before.

From what I have heard and seen truck drivers learnt how to drive while doing motor boy for their oga, and the cycle continues.

When they earn well, why are they not responsible on the wheel ?
Of all haulage companies and truck drivers, they are so reckless and the major cause of accidents on our roads.
They should be given regular training and orientation.
Safety at all times .
FRSC , ought to have been involved by positioning some of its officers to be going round major companies with high volume of haulage trucks to be giving them serious trainings and revalidate their driving skills from time to time.
That's why we say no matter how much u give most Nigerian workers, they will still look for extra money by cutting corners. Those drivers around us here earned above 400k yet they still do deals on diesel etc. See some uniform men and Government officials using the entire monthly salary to do contribution? How do they survive the month if not to rely heavy bribe. Dangote is trying with job creation and marketing Nigerians should be patriotic.

I specifically mentioned MSC as the minimum criteria while PHD is better. You will see how the rate of death by Dangote trucks will decline to almost ZERO.

Tanker drivers load tens of tomatoes basket and other goods in basket, on fuel/diesel tanker...and it's easy because basket are easily tied togeda preventing them from falling

..... Once a driver tells u his truck broke down and it's taking more than 6 hrs his usual time to arrive....just know he has diverted the truck to another route to go pick up contraband

.....that's where fleet manager comes into the runs ... to back up his story that truck broke down....... He will even raise invoice for repairs and parts he ddnt change.....

Dangote operates the biggest fleet in Nigeria,
Even transporters don't come close.
A fleet that large of course will have more incidents than anybody else, common sense tbh...

There are no laws in Nigeria. In the west especially in USA/Canada there's what's called CVOR for commercial driving companies-trucks, trailers, buses. Points are attached to the company cvor so that in any accident, or traffic infractions, those points are deducted until it get to a point when the opearating licenses are withdrawn from the companies and they can no longer have their vehicles on the roads. Eg some cities in usa have private companies running their transit systems because the municipal drivers have accumulated so much demerit points that the municipality has been suspended from transit system for at least 6 months

Oh, they earn well, I know the ins and outs of transportation.
If you see how these drivers spend money eh, so lavishly even more than footballers. Go to beer parlours and joints, they are there spending almost 30 per night.

The end up drunk and still drive which is majority of the accidents

Sure, here the dynamics are different. The only similarity is the truck driving itself. However which ever way it is operated, the truck driver makes his money, whether he owns the truck or is employed as the driver.

The reasons why there are delays in approaching destinations are several. There are terrible roads, security, huge traffic jams, etc. Infact at some time last year, it took trucks days to navigate just the Benin bypass. If you own your own truck, you make more money because you do not have have to pay driver’s salary.

NUPENG played into the hands of Dangote. For so many years, NUPENG held the entire nation by the jugular. Distribution has always been an issue. By labour laws, Dangote drivers and staff must belong to the labour union. However, Dangote reserves the right to run his business the way it wishes. With direct delivery to service stations, the feeding bottle is off the mouths of NUPENG officials. In all, we have witnessed consistency with petrol delivery, since the incoming of Dangote refinery.
