When Should Christians Speak In Tongues? by cutecommend(op):
Speaking in tongues recklessly; whether at home, in church, while leading prayers e.t.c is not good. You should speak in tongues rightly, always, but not frivolously.
When You Should Not Speak in Tongues:

(1) During Prayer for Repentance: if a person or group of persons are praying a prayer of repentance for sin, backsliding, disobedience e.t.c. It is wrong to speak in tongues at such times; rather, a clear confession of sin & request for forgiveness from God should be made. I got part of this insight from a clergy.

(2) During Prayers in Secular Places: If you are told to lead prayers in a political gathering, national centres, office, general places e.t.c. It is not a time to show spirituality. It is a time to pray so that everyone understands. You can pray in tongues on your own.

(3) When Praying to God About Your Weaknesses, shortcomings, Character flaws: If you are speaking to God as a Father on your weaknesses, shortcomings, character flaws e.t.c, you are to tell God clearly about it & that he needs to help you get free. It is not really a time to blast in tongues.

WE ALWAYS SPEAK GIBBERISH BUT THE LORD GOD IS THE PROPITIATION FOR OUR SINS.
EVERY BREATH, THINKING AND REASONING IS THE WORD, THE LIGHT, LEVERAGE AND THE LIFE OF GOD IN ALL HUMANS.
THE LORD IS ALWAYS WITH US IN SPIRIT AND IN SECRET. THE LORD'S DREAMS IN US ARE ALSO HIS WORDS AND HIS SPREAD SHEET OF OUR SPEECH IN TONGUES FOR HIS AUTHORIZATION, APPROVAL AND BLESSINGS.
HAPPY SUNDAY TO YOU ALL GIBBERISH RIGHTEOUS SPEAKERS.

This shows you expected members of JW to know everything in the Bible.
Why such high expectations? Matthew 5:14-16
Please quote the words as found written in your copy of the Bible for everyone to see that first century disciples of Christ were actually PRAYING in tongues! smiley

agree with the first two not so sure about the third, you know Rom.8.26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. (NKJV)

So you're the one who decides when to speak in tongues and not the work of The Holy Spirit again.

Acts 19:6
And when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.

Is this verse and many others I gave you previously missing inside your own Bible, I thought you said to be a Christian?

Speaking in tongues and praying in tongues are referring to the same thing as you can see in the Bible passages below:

[[1 Corinthians 14:2 KJV]] For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

[[1 Corinthians 14:14-15 KJV]] 14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. 15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

Is laying hand as Paul did here and the Holy spirit came upon them has nothing to do with praying?

Acts 19:6
And when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.

1 Corinthians 14:2
For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit.

1 Corinthians 14:14-15
14. For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful.
15. So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my understanding; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my understanding.

Guy praying in tongues is nonsense that is what Paul is saying and no believer did that in the first century except those who are presumptuous so Paul is using that letter to correct the misconception!

Reread Paul's letter again but this time meditate on what he said not just quoting simply because you want to make it appear like he approved it. undecided

16. Otherwise when you are praising God in the Spirit, how can someone else, who is now put in the position of an inquirer, say “Amen” to your thanksgiving, since they do not know what you are saying?

17.You are giving thanks well enough, but no one else is edified

This verse is self explanatory.

This is when the whole church are praising God or the speaker is addressing the people.

Verse 19 explained this better: "But in a church meeting I would rather speak five understandable words to help others than ten thousand words in an unknown language."

The Bible didn't say he was praying all what he needs to do is LAY HIS HAND ON THEM!
Please stop adding to God's word speak differs from pray that's why Paul is telling them that they need to know the purpose of praying because when others don't understand what you are saying then it is futile and they are justified if they choose not to say "amen"😟

If someone is praying in an unknown language which the congregations didn't understand, there should be an interpreter that understand the congregational's language to interpret for them!
