They play Chile U20 tomorrow in a friendly.

L-R: Ebenezer Harcourt, Clinton Andy Ezekiel, Rufai Abubakar

All Solid GKs.
Clinton is an NFL goalkeeper. That's impressive

Yes. Impressed between the sticks for Bayelsa Utd in the NPFL. Only 19.

Some call him the second coming of Enyeama. Time will tell but yes, the lad is a solid GK talent.

Ademola Lookman and Atalanta have finally put an end to their summer-long dispute after the Nigerian forward had talks with head coach Ivan Juric and agreed to give his all for the team. This comes after the Nigerian met with the club's officials to discuss his position at the club recently. The 27-year-old is now expected to start in Atalanta's league fixture against Torino on Sunday.

I don't want to put my hopes on our team. Their body language does not show determination. Worse come to worse, let Benin qualify.

Their banter will be in French. E no go pain us since we won't understand alle vous la pais 😂😂 unlike South Africa.
You're right but they won't be the want bantering us but ourselves. The we told you guys FC... They will surely come up with we told you sacking Rhor was the biggest football mistake of this century 😁😁

Sacking Rohr was a very big mistake. You sacked Rohr and replace him with downgrades. Not Herve Renard not Hugo Brood but who? Eguaveon 😂😂

im not advocating for Rohr to be left alone, but NFF for let am finish that WCQ of 2022, and maybe sack him after we qualify….Rohr set up wey we all know that year go defend home and away against Ghana…and probably stretch the game to penalty shootout…bringing in Eguavoen was so so sudden meehn

Sacking Rohr was not the problem, the problem is with NFF, you dont sack coaches that has full knowledge of his team amidst the heat of qualifiers, at that period even a guardiola cant save us….if i were Eguavoen or any other coach, i wont take up that job, cos its just a big set up….
An upcoming play-off derby match looming and then you sacked a coach that has been handling the team for the past 6years to employ a miracle worker?
even if the coach na Eba….u for Just leave am to sink totally or save the team

Sacking Rohr was one of the best decisions, given SE's drastic decline and poor performance. As I've said before, Rohr's success with Benin Republic stems from individual brilliance and player determination. If he were SE's coach, he'd likely face the same struggles as he's always relied heavily on a few star players. His coaching style focuses on individual talent rather than tactical acumen,
Rohr was so poor tactically
poor substitutions and game management. Let's not forget his past shortcomings and instead focus on the team's dedication moving forward.
Chelle’s approach has been promising, and with a bit of luck, we can still qualify for the World Cup

Yes he was poor tactically.. but we always qualified for competitions with 2 games or a game to spare.

This first few mins of this clip destroys your limited analysis which limits him to just passes and creativity.

He doesnt have to be rugged like Gattuso but Onyedika is strong in duels and tackles and he wins them cleanly without being overly aggressive.
Onyedika has what it takes to play the deep lying midfield role, thereby freeing Iwobi to concentrate on providing creativity in the final third. I have said this before, the SE can only get the best of Iwobi when he is played closer to the strikers than trying to get him drop deep and at the same time expect him to magically appear in the final third to provide creative passes.
Onyedika should be starting in a 3 man midfield consisting of Iwobi, Onyedika and Ndidi.
................Iwobi..........
Onyedika........Ndidi

the ghana match was after afcon. With the way we were playing during his last matches, he wouldn't have finished afcon before he would be sacked so the time he was sacked didnt really matter.

Let me firstly pinpoint that nothing is set in stone on any of these lads. They all have to make the right "next step choices" after the WC. Some are already on the right career growth and development path.

Also, Super Eagles invites for talented youngsters come either via top exceptionality of the player from a tactical or technical viewpoint (e.g. Iheanacho in 2015/16, Osimhen in 2017, Chukwueze in 2018) or availability needed in a certain role (e.g. Kenneth Omeruo in 2013)

In this light... My pre-tournament picks as Future Super Eagles prospects are:

- Ebenezer Harcourt, GK (Already debuted with the CHAN Eagles)
- Odinaka Okoro, LB
- Arierhi Nathaniel Kparobo, CF
- Daniel Daga, MF
- Amos Ochoche, RB

That is ALL for now. Note that lads like Ahmed Akinyele, Freedom Marvellous, Sani Suleiman, even KFA's Kamaldeen are rated by me but would need to show me more at the upcoming tournament.

After the WC, I will have my Post-tournament picks.

You welcome.

Naija Talents Watch

On the Flying Eagles key players to watch at the upcoming U20 WC, we have the spotlight more on Ebenezer Harcourt, Daniel Daga and Arierhi Kparobo as they are more known locally and already showed their stuff in national colors already on the continent and regionally.

But another name is to be noted and he shone like a million stars in the NPFL for Akwa Utd before heading to AS Trencin in the Slovak Topflight, the Nike Liga.

He was nominated alongside Daniel Daga (then of Enyimba) and Ahmed Akinyele Olamide (Remo Stars) for the Best NPFL Rookie award at the Nigerian League Bloggers Award (LBA) 2024 and will be one of the key lads that Coach Aliyu Zubairu will be banking on to propel the team in attack alongside top marksman, Arierhi Nathaniel Kparobo.

His name is Sani Suleiman and he is a winger/wing forward deadly with both feet, fast and quite creative. He will be another young talent to keep eyes on.

Below is his NPFL Highlights reel...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfSGqbzwHRo?feature=shared

Below is his highlights reel at Trencin

Found this too...

Conclusion:

We struggled for bite and creativity from the wingers at the U20 Afcon. In Sani, Coach Aliyu addresses that hugely. Sani won the 2024 League Bloggers Awards' NPFL Rookie of the season beating Daniel Daga (then at Enyimna) and Ahmed Akinyele (Remo). He was the shining light and revelation of that NPFL season in akwa utd colors.
I expect the lad to bring his ambipedal unpredictability, speed, attacking creativity and workrate to the Flying Eagles at the U20 Mundial starting with Norway on Sept 29.

Time will tell but Sani definitely is a talent to watch out for.

People seem to have selective amnesia when it comes to Gernot Rohr. 4-4 draw at home against Sierra Leone, loss to CAR at home abi were those games handled by Finidi too? How come he hasn't qualified yet with a game to spare as some like to use that line to taunt us. His qualification of Benin for the world cup rests solely on beating Nigeria at home. And some other permutations. Enough of all these noises of Gernot Rohr. I dare say he put us in this problem cos he overstayed on the job. Please check our games when he was in charge and the games subsequent managers handled, we basically haven't changed style of play as our starting 11 under him were also the starting 11 under these managers..

A clear look at the Super eagles will tell you that from Ekong, huff the ball either aerially to Osimhen or to the left , looking for Moses Simon. We had no creativity in the middle since 2015 and since mikel left the scene. Under Gernot Rohr, the team could not string 5 straight passes. The only time we played brilliantly was when he switched to 352 against Argentina.

The sole people I have to blame for this debacle we find ourselves in is NFF. Even if you bring 10 other top coaches. As long as it's these same set of starting 11 we keep parading, we will get beat of figured out

By the way should we take Daniel daga to the nations cup. I mean integrate him into the Super Eagles. Ahmed musa was in the national team at 17. So was amokachi, Henry nwosu etc. I think we should at least try him in a friendly
