Iwobi Goal and Assist in 98 secs. 1min 38secs apart... Crazy game.

That Iwobi one time pass is the reason why he should never ever again deeplie in Nigeria's midfield. He belongs to the final third from the left or right where his Vision serves us laterally and diagonally.

He is a final ball specialist and this quality is best seen when he works close to the box or the other forwards.

Beautiful game of football. Bassey too has been immense since Brentford went behind. A Rock.

Why are we not using iwobi the he is used at Fulham ?
There is no need for Simon, iwobi is so intelligent and can be the outlet we need if used the same way he is used at Fulham. This will relieve him of midfield responsibilities

I've always said he's our most intelligent player, the people wey we pack join am for pitch no fit read him passes, they always want to play basic football, that's why he always seems to give misplaced passes in the Super Eagles shirt.

For club, once them see Iwobi with ball, na movement and opening of spaces because them know say wicked through pass dey come.

Forget the goal sef. That assist alone shatters every disrespect. What a pass!!!

Iwobi's assist is as superb as Phil Foden's assist for Haaland in the UCL days ago. Both are almost equal in quality, Visionary thinking and the speed of thought to execute it. Damn!

And both did it by being close to the forwards, operating around the box, not all the way from Ojuelegba in deep midfield.

It's because we feel or the coaches think we must always play him centrally in the national team. His role needs to be redefined if we are to see different results

Orban will enjoy Iwobi if they jam for same team. Chaaaiiiii... so far, Only Osimhen seem to understand Iwobi's passing eyes.
Tolu is still coming into his own in the team. He will pick up as time goes. He is a lad who scores and has good sense of positioning.

Bottomline is this, Iwobi needs to be taken off central midfield duties in the GWG. He is wasted there. Absolutely wasted.

His intelligence and speed of thought is needed close to the box to do premium damages as a final ball specialist. Play him as a false winger (AKA Wingfielder), An AM but on the wings who can still drift centrally at times.

You are thinking. I dont say this with hate but with utmost respect for Simon.

Simon currently will best serve us as an impact player off the bench. Trust me, it is just about that time. No sentiments here if we must break this limitation we have forced onto ourselves..
His place on the left can be taken by Iwobi. Thing is Iwobi can also orchestrate this way on the right. Simon must go to the bench. Coz Lookman is also there.

I repeat!!!! 👇🏽

TheSuperNerd:
We keep benching Raphael Onyedika in the Super Eagles when his passing and composure on the ball is one of the keys to setting up the Creativity blocks of our middle game.

Raphael Onyedika, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Christantus Uche... these lads hold the keys. Then throw in an experienced Iwobi operating as he does at Fulham. But naah... we keep limiting ourselves.

Bro... you and I know that for certain things to happen, certain elements have to give way. The way our team has been set up, we aren't planning to change the status quo. Maybe because of certain vested interests, I wouldn't know but it's just sad. Iwobi for me should be moved to the final 3rd as he seems to work better with quick release of the ball in tight spaces
I have always opined that he should be played in the position he plays for his club but Mr make shift manager decided to turn him into Okocha reborn forgetting its not by Osmosis. Iwobi from time immemorial has been played on the wingsand seems to have gotten used to that. Hence of he must play, he should be deployed on the wings but alas people will begin to ask who drops to the bench for that to happen?

We would rather do anyhow and employ useless and non profitable tactics just to accommodate certain dead weights that I have mentioned their names for too many times on this thread

Nigeria U20 vs Chile U20 in Progress currently.

We play Australia on the 23rd on Tuesday as already reported before today.

#FlyingEagles2025
Ahmed Akinyele rose above everyone else in the box to head Nigeria in front in the 18th minute, from a corner kick by Tahir Maigana, but Chile drew level 18 minutes later through Felipe Faúndez.

Just a minute into the second half, goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt made two big saves to keep scores even.

Abduljelil Kamaldeen, Kparobo Arhieri and Auwal Ibrahim came in as substitutes for Nigeria in the second period.

The Flying Eagles will take on the Australia U20 team in another friendly match on Tuesday.

Omo... Is it just me or Arokodare doesn't have good positioning?

And he doesn't press or "hustle" for the ball enough, he just seems to be strolling on the pitch most of the time.

I hope he gets better soon enough.
maybe a one-off

Iwobi has quality when played in the right position. The reason he’s struggles with Naija sometimes is because we use him in the wrong position. Iwobi is not a CM at all. He should be playing further forward.

An Ndidi and Iwobi midfield is asking for trouble.

That’s like having a quality striker like Osimhen but playing him on the LW. You won’t get the best out of him.

Iwobi gets scapegoated for no reason.

And I always ask this question to those who say Iwobi is not good enough:

“Who should we call up instead?”

If we continue to use him as a CM, he will also continue to be scapegoated cos we need a ball carrier and a leader in that midfield, which we don't have, hence the reason Iwobi continues to play that role that makes him look like a misfit. It's left to those handling our national team to make the necessary adjustments and save the young man from unnecessary bashing. The player himself is senior enough in the national team to let the coaching crew know where he will function the most. The national team makes him look like a mediocre player sometimes, and of course, when we don't get the desired results, not many will buy this excuse of him not playing in the right position.
