Alexander Iwobi appears on the Sofascore Premier League Team of the Week for Matchday Five with a second highest rating of 8.5! He provided a goal and an assist within 98 seconds against Brentford! Naija baller 🇳🇬💚⚽

zicky:No sentiments I blame the NFF not them Ridiculous NFF slots for players, shabbily done manager recruiting process, interfering with coach’s job, not fighting for the players when it mattered (Crappy FIFA schedule compared to South Africa) We played South Africa at home, didn’t even have up to 3 days interval we faced Benin They did same when we faced Rwanda at home & South Africa away Finidi George was recruited because he was Peseiro’s assistant, without proper procedure NFF think they can cut corners, siphon funds & think Nigeria will always come out tops without proper preparation 2 years ago in Randy Waldrum’s interview just before Womens World Cup 2023 he said Nigeria will not qualify again if the useless politicians keep doing things shabbily It has come to pass When they were inviting wedding bound Ahmed Musa for Unity cup, out of form Iheanacho, doing things horribly and expecting to qualify what do you expect. Tella & Ejuke weren’t even looked at They should keep interfering with coach selection Even the coach should keep on playing Moses at left wing because they’re friends Lookman (your best player on the pitch) couldn’t even get decent shots on target, he wasn’t even in threatening positions. How do you expect to win Up till now I’m sure they’re still owing Falcons The Federation is 100% responsible Why doesn’t the coach grant interviews to defend his selections & play style Troost Ekong has lost his pace, shouldn’t be starting games NFF will give nothing but excuses and lies just like conventional Nigerian politicians do, so it’s not new I remember Keshi didn’t invite our best player at the time (Odemwinge) and we won AFCON 2013 |

TheGoodJoe:Baba, you go explain tire, you want a coach to go and lose all 3 points on top of one yeye philosophy. abeg park one side. Pep has been figured out, just like MOU was, with his own kind of haram game, and now Oga Pep needs whatever he can to remain afloat. The game is the game, and it was fun seeing Man City go all the way to ensure parity. If they try that your philosophy dem for chop better goals yesterday and you want them to deplete their goal difference because of what? This is a league and not a tournament. Even Barca has re-modified their approach! |

daveP:Bro, you hit the nail on the head. Everything you said is the truth. For years I've been saying the same thing about Iwobi; he needs to be played in and around the D (the arc of the box). In a 4-3-3, his best role is either as a CAM, where he can arrive late into the box and finish with those calm one-touch strikes into the far corner, or as an inside winger operating in the half-spaces, threading those deadly diagonal passes. Playing him as a deep CM has never made sense. In a 4-4-2 or 3-5-2, Iwobi should be deployed as a SS. If anyone doubts this, just rewatch our 4-2 win over Argentina in 2018. That was "beast in the middle" Iwobi. He was direct, creative and dangerous. Now to Dessers: I've said this over and over, but many people still ignore the truth. Dessers is one of the most intelligent center forwards in the Super Eagles right now. His movement, positioning, ball control, and finishing are elite. But if you surround him with teammates who can’t read his diagonal and curved runs, then of course you'll never see his best. Examples speak louder than words: 1) His headed goal vs Mexico. 2) The chest control and beautiful finish vs Jamaica. 3) That world-class strike vs Man United. Look at the ball control, quick turn, and left-footed rocket. Dessers is two-footed in front of goal. If I remember correctly, he scored around 8 goals last season with his weaker left. And it’s not just goals: he’s become more selfless, registering 8-9 assists last season. For a CF, that’s massive. Until our coaches, fans, and those wanna-be OAPs and quack journalists drop the sentiment and start actually watching these players properly, we'll stay stuck. Imagine having two incredible players like Iwobi and Dessers and still not knowing how to use them. That’s the real tragedy. |

Steffen blamed his team for their lack of defensive discipline and singled out Boniface, who, according to him, was just too everywhere. “I felt he was too ‘everywhere. It’s fine for him to be more central. It wasn’t the way I wanted it,” Steffen was quoted as saying by Transfermarkt. |

It wasn’t just him, but a lot of players weren’t staying in their spaces. We have to be positionally consistent so that we can overload the attack every now and then. That’s an issue I’ll address.” Manager Steffen said the Nigerian must be patient as the team adapts. |

solonnachi:I'm not even trying to blame them. The loyalty guage on the team is ALWAYS killed by the same guys that always refer to 90s set. These guys were all damn loyal and passionate just last year at Wafcon. We saw even a different Moses Simon. But they ruined it all with their decisions and expect that won't affect the players now that they have a coach that's bringing a new approach tactically? Why won't it be low morale? See the issues with bonuses as well. How did they go from Afcon finalist to this tepid stale momentum if not leadership issues. It's so obvious that many don't even dare blame Chelle. |

daveP:But it was agreed here that we played rubbish in the AFCON, or were we that good? cos if I remember very well, that's why we chased Paseiro away, that our players were too good and world-class to be playing haram football. We need to put things in proper perspective, cos am one of those who still feel we ruined it all with the poor management of the Afcon success. Some tactics worked well for us that we just needed to build upon, but hey, we threw everything away in arrogance. |

Goke7:Blame goes to: NFF The mathematician and 94set The were the ones that said it's not our style and that we have world class players that any coach can succeed with. And that our Nigerian coaches can do it better. Once any coach succeed, they will come out to say it's because we have array of stars at our disposal. They did it to Keshi after AFCON, Rhor at his prime and Peseiro after AFCON. During time of struggle they will enter their shell only to resurface after a breakthrough. |

Goke7:You guys just keep recycling the same talk. The same Pep Guardiola that was supporting authors create books on his system, creating seminars, even went as far as supporting a documentary that gave a deep insight into his system is trying to stay afloat. The point is simple, we are rebuilding the team. So it will take some time to settle. With just Gvardiol and Khusanov, two fast defenders, we started dominating. Khusanov's injury yesterday took away the gross defensive pace. As soon as we fully fix our rebuild, we will start dominating. Even though I believe the building is slow because Guardiola might be soon leaving. There is nothing like park well. |

Nigeria will not qualify for 2030 World Cup because of the comedians at that NFF glass house of commotion We need to boot them out We need to start planning else we don’t make the Morocco World Cup in 2030 ![]() This is a joke until it isn’t Nothing is given, everything is earned Other countries are now investing I’m sure the Super Eagles would pacify Nigerians by performing well at the AFCON Maybe this generations last chance at a trophy We have not been formidable since reverting back to 4 at the back I miss 3-4-3 though |

Akinsanmiro is being who we thought Nwakali would be. Ever since Mikel and to an extent Etebo, we haven't had a holding midfielder like you'll find in Akinsanmiro. He's got quick fit, press resistant and holds his own down well, not easy to dispossess. I expect to see him getting a call for next month games. |

African stars, Mohamed Salah and Achraf Hakimi finish 4th and 6th overall in the 2025 Ballon D'or. Congrats to the Egyptian King and Moroccan Golden Prince. The battle for the 2025 APOTY is clearly between these two as leading contenders but time will tell as always (especially as I dont expect they will delay the Apoty 2025 till after the Afcon which ends in January 2026 but let's see). Another African star, Serhou Guirassy finished 21st by the way. In all, BIG CONGRATS TO DEMBOUZ... well deserved for Ousmane Dembele.
