In An Interview, If Asked Will You Leave If A Better Job Comes Along? by BXNX(op): 10:04am On Sep 23, 2025
I noticed that this happens to be one of the classic question interviewers asks!

How should you answer?

Do they want to make you a salary earner for life? You have to save up and build your own dreams too. Tell them, you are actually going to leave

"Sure Sir. That's how I came here Sir. But you can be sure I will not violate the terms of employment relating to disengagement from your services."

Tell them you can hardly or cannot imagine a better job option with the growth path you envisage under them in few years.

Sometimes you balance out folly with equal measure o folly in reverse direction.

If such question arises during interview section, let them know that money is not everything.

I share a school of thought that builds on due process, I believe that instead of moving to the other better offer, I rather stay and help build and make this company better and envy of others

Re: In An Interview, If Asked Will You Leave If A Better Job Comes Along? by Kobicove(m): 4:01pm On Sep 23, 2025
An experienced interviewer does not even need to ask this question.

From merely reviewing the applicant's CV you should be able to tell if he or she will stay in the organisation for at least 3 years undecided

I will actually tell the interviewer that I chose not to answer such question... On the other hand I can tell the interviewer what he or she wants to hear...

I'm not bound by what I say during interview but by terms and conditions on the offer letter...

If they want to give you the job they will give you the job, which one is will you leave if you see a better opportunity?

Won't the HR resign for a better opportunity too?

They will see through the bullshit. They know you want the job and you will say anything to get it at least for that moment

Very simple answer.....

"At this time, this role meets my current goal and objective, and my focus is to give it my best. All other future opportunities will be evaluated against my goals and better salary is only one of the many factors to be considered.

Tell them that you chose their company with the vision of growth in your professional, personal and financial aspect but the first two takes the centre stage while financial growth is secondary. So, a better job that guarantees those two are extremely rare and money is not everything. In essence I'll feel fulfilled if I have the opportunity to work here.

Don't say yes outrightly, and don't say no too, just answer this way:

I am looking for a role where I can grow, contribute, and build long-term. If this position offers me the right challenges, opportunities for development, and a good work culture, I see no reason to leave. My focus is on adding value here, not constantly searching for the next job.

It is inevitable. However, I'll do all I can to make this particular job a better one.

Tell them you are not a quitter ,you dont see a better job once you find purpose in their job and its fulfilling your inner sense of fulfillment, it will be hard for you to want another job.

Then of course when the other better job comes along you quit and move on

Interviewers ask stupid questions
