Day 0 Of 40 — The Beginning! by thepathoflogos(op): 6:37am On Sep 23, 2025
Grace to start well and finish strong is my prayer for everyone reading this today.

Leviticus 6:13 – “The fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously.”

Today's Prayer:
Lord, set my altar on fire. Burn distractions, stir my hunger. Let Your promises manifest now.

Discussion:
Have you ever started something spiritual (like fasting, prayer, or Bible study) and struggled to finish strong?
What helped you stay consistent?

Type AMEN if this prayer speaks to you.

Firstly
Firstly

There is no altar anywhere again since Jesus has being fulfilled

The only altar you can have now is by remaining in Jesus

But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! (John 15: 7)

These are his words:
27. "But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. 28. Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you. 29. If someone slaps you on one cheek, offer the other cheek also. If someone demands your coat, offer your shirt also. 30. Give to anyone who asks; and when things are taken away from you, don't try to get them back. 31. Do to others as you would like them to do to you. 32. "If you love only those who love you, why should you get credit for that? Even sinners love those who love them! 33. And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much! 34. And if you lend money only to those who can repay you, why should you get credit? Even sinners will lend to other sinners for a full return. 35. "Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked. 36. You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate. 37. "Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven. 38. Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full-- pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back. " 39. Then Jesus gave the following illustration: "Can one blind person lead another? Won't they both fall into a ditch? 40. Students are not greater than their teacher. But the student who is fully trained will become like the teacher. 41. "And why worry about a speck in your friend's eye when you have a log in your own? 42. How can you think of saying, 'Friend, let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,' when you can't see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend's eye. 43. "A good tree can't produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can't produce good fruit. 44. A tree is identified by its fruit. Figs never grow on thornbushes, nor grapes on bramble bushes. 45. A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart. 46. "So why do you keep calling me 'Lord, Lord!' when you don't do what I say? 47. I will show you what it's like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it. 48. It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against the house, it stands firm because it is well built. (Luke 6: 27-48)

When you are doing all these, that is it!
There is no Altar anywhere again

You mentioned Fasting
See what God himself said about Fasting in Isaiah 58
1. "Shout with the voice of a trumpet blast. Shout aloud! Don't be timid. Tell my people Israel of their sins! 2. Yet they act so pious! They come to the Temple every day and seem delighted to learn all about me. They act like a righteous nation that would never abandon the laws of its God. They ask me to take action on their behalf, pretending they want to be near me. 3. 'We have fasted before you!' they say. 'Why aren't you impressed? We have been very hard on ourselves, and you don't even notice it!' "I will tell you why!" I respond. "It's because you are fasting to please yourselves. Even while you fast, you keep oppressing your workers. 4. What good is fasting when you keep on fighting and quarreling? This kind of fasting will never get you anywhere with me. 5. You humble yourselves by going through the motions of penance, bowing your heads like reeds bending in the wind. You dress in burlap and cover yourselves with ashes. Is this what you call fasting? Do you really think this will please the LORD? 6. "No, this is the kind of fasting I want: Free those who are wrongly imprisoned; lighten the burden of those who work for you. Let the oppressed go free, and remove the chains that bind people. 7. Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help. 8. "Then your salvation will come like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the LORD will protect you from behind. 9. Then when you call, the LORD will answer. 'Yes, I am here,' he will quickly reply. "Remove the heavy yoke of oppression. Stop pointing your finger and spreading vicious rumors! 10. Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon. (Isa 58: 1-10)

Don't think Fasting means going hungry for hours or days to Please God like most people do!
The Fasting that God wants has been described by him here!
The Fasting Jesus talked about in the New Testament can not be the hunger type.It is this one here he was referring to!
Jesus cannot be saying something differently from what our Father has said!

Above everything
Bible study: especially the teachings of Christ , to me, it is the main thing
With it, even Prayer would be less and Great things would happen immediately without stress!

I just felt like pointing out all of these to you

You’re absolutely right about Isaiah 58 – it’s a powerful reminder that fasting is not just about skipping food but about aligning our hearts with God’s will and showing love to others.

But it’s also true that Jesus Himself said, “When you fast…” (Matthew 6:16), not “If you fast” — meaning there’s still value in setting aside food to seek God, as long as it’s done with the right heart.

Bible study is key, yes — but prayer and fasting are like firewood and flame (Mark 9:29). One fuels the other. The goal isn’t hunger; it’s intimacy with God and transformation of our hearts.

So when Jesus said "when you fast", he was commanding his disciples to fast? If yes, did Jesus give any length or frequency of fasting?

Good question
Jesus said “when you fast” (Matt 6:16-18) but didn’t give a set length or frequency — He focused on the heart.

Moses fasted 40 days (Exo 34:28), Daniel 21 days (Dan 10:2-3), Nineveh just 1 day (Jon 3:5-10) — yet God honored all.

Even the early church fasted at key moments (Acts 13:2-3, Acts 14:23).

So it’s less about “how long” and more about seeking God sincerely.

What do you think? Should fasting be regular (weekly) or Spirit-led and occasional?

DAY 1 OF 40 — KEEPING THE FIRE ALIVE

Lord, I refuse to be cold. I refuse to be distracted. I receive fresh fire today.

Scripture:
Romans 12:11 – “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.”

Today's Prayer:
Father, make me passionate again. Restore my hunger, my focus, and my love for Your presence.
Let every dead area in my life receive life.

Discussion:
What usually tries to quench your zeal — worry, sin, busyness, or people?

How do you bounce back when you feel spiritually dry?

Type I RECEIVE FRESH FIRE if this prayer is yours today!

Day 2 drops tomorrow — something powerful is coming. Stay tuned!

Well,

1. On December 7 of the fourth year of King Darius's reign, another message came to Zechariah from the LORD. 2. The people of Bethel had sent Sharezer and Regemmelech, along with their attendants, to seek the LORD's favor. 3. They were to ask this question of the prophets and the priests at the Temple of the LORD of Heaven's Armies: "Should we continue to mourn and fast each summer on the anniversary of the Temple's destruction, as we have done for so many years?" 4. The LORD of Heaven's Armies sent me this message in reply: 5. "Say to all your people and your priests, 'During these seventy years of exile, when you fasted and mourned in the summer and in early autumn, was it really for me that you were fasting? 6. And even now in your holy festivals, aren't you eating and drinking just to please yourselves ? 7. Isn't this the same message the LORD proclaimed through the prophets in years past when Jerusalem and the towns of Judah were bustling with people, and the Negev and the foothills of Judah were well populated?' " 8. Then this message came to Zechariah from the LORD: 9. "This is what the LORD of Heaven's Armies says: Judge fairly, and show mercy and kindness to one another. 10. Do not oppress widows, orphans, foreigners, and the poor. And do not scheme against each other. (Zech 7: 1-10)

Is fasting really related to Hunger according to God?
It may have actually been a misconception from the time of Isaiah to Zechariah till now!

Thing is

You talked about intimacy with God.
That's showing love to God
Well
Jesus said
"If you love me, obey my commandments. (John 14: 15)

[Source: New Living Translation]
If anyone asks me how to have an Intimacy with God,it is really by Obeying Jesus commandments!
I don't believe there is really anything else in form of Fasting and long hours of prayer or something.

In fact,I am a believer of short prayers that truly changes the hearts of unbelievers and makes them see the great things of God.I don't believe we have to pray long hours of prayer again and again for God to hear us.
Every other thing involving God is embedded in Jesus' commandments
Even to receive the Holy Spirit:

15. "If you love me, obey my commandments. 16. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. 17. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn't looking for him and doesn't recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. (John 14: 15-17)

[Source: New Living Translation]

I really believe there is really no price to get anything from God after obeying Jesus commandments.

Obeying Jesus commandments is not even a price.
We are to do it because we love God.
And it is what makes us true Children of God!

(Luke 6: 27-35)

So since Jesus did not give a frequency or length about fasting, where did he command Christians to fast?

If I eat in the morning around 9am and later eat in the afternoon around 1pm, have I fasted for 4 hours?
Re: Day 0 Of 40 — The Beginning! by thepathoflogos(op): 4:48pm On Sep 24, 2025
Jesus didn’t give us a fixed timetable for fasting, but notice He said “when you fast…” (Matt 6:16), not “if you fast.” That shows He expected His followers to do it — but from the right heart, not as a ritual.

Also, fasting in Scripture was always more than just skipping meals. David said, “I humbled myself with fasting” (Ps 35:13), and in Acts 13:2-3, the early church fasted and prayed before making major decisions. It’s a spiritual exercise, not just a hunger strike.

So yes, you may go without food for 4 hours, but Biblical fasting adds prayer, repentance, and seeking God’s face (Joel 2:12) — that’s what makes it powerful and different from just missing breakfast

If you have 4 bags of rice in your house stored up for only your family and you gave 1 out to a fellow believer who has nothing to feed his family that makes the bags remains 3 according to Isaiah 58 you have fasted! smiley

So according to you "when you fast" means "I command you to fast".

So anytime that I am not eating but I am praying, repenting and seeking God’s face, that is what fasting means?

Was David in the bible commanded to fast as an isrealite? If yes, where in the bible?

Jesus said “when you fast” (Matt. 6:16) the same way He said “when you pray” (Matt. 6:5). Not a ritual command, but an assumed discipline of every believer.
David was never under a daily law to fast, yet he said: “I humbled my soul with fasting” (Ps. 35:13) and even sought God with fasting in 2 Sam. 12:16.
Israel had only one commanded fast — the Day of Atonement (Lev. 16:29-31). Every other fast (Joel 2:12; Acts 13:2-3) was voluntary, tied to prayer and repentance.
So true fasting = not just skipping food, but humbling the heart before God.[/quote]

1)So if the isrealites were not under a command to fast daily but only on atonement day, are Christians under a command to fast daily or any time of the year at all?

2)When Jesus said "when you fast", don't you think that he was speaking to the isrealites who were still under the mosaic law to fast on atonement day?

3)are you saying that any moment that I am not eating but I am praying and humbling my self before God then I am fasting?

good questions.
1️⃣ No, Christians aren’t commanded to fast daily or at fixed times — it’s voluntary, like prayer.

2️⃣ When Jesus said “when you fast,” He spoke before the cross, but the principle still stands for believers under grace, not law.

3️⃣ Yes, true fasting is not about food alone — it’s about humbling the soul before God, with or without eating. (See Isa. 58:6)
