Start looking for dates now, only 2026 dates are available. Target May and June 2026 dates.

Hello house,
I deferred my admission to fall 2026, I was advised by the course representative to defer to fall 2026 in order to to increase my chances of retaining my funding . My MRV expires in April 2026, when can I possibly be on the look out for dates taking into consideration the visa validity thing and when I can enter the US for the resumption in August.

Hello Punchy.
The only person that can guide you with future appointment and entry into the United States after your visa issuance is your incoming (new) Form-I20.

Focus on getting the new Form-I20 and focus on visa success tips. Stop worrying yourself about visa validity which you have not even gotten.

Consular officer determines your visa issuance based on your I-20 information. Besides, F1-visa is still an indefinite visa stamping providing that you are maintaining studentship in the U.S. Like i wrote earlier, your new Form-I20 will determine your next moves.

NOTE: You can always apply for Emergency Appointment as a prospective international student. 👍

In today's business world, your course of study is irrelevant except if your career is a tailored path ie Doctor, Surgeon, Pilot, Pharmacist etc. Having graduated from a University or College is of utmost importance. Therefore, you are presently under general business and finance.

YOU
I recently got denied Canada visa
My sponsor is my older brother living in Us and he is married to a US citizen and also we don’t share same surname but we are related.

Your Canada visa denial will hunt you courtesy of the 5- eyes (Australia, UK, USA, New zealand, and Canada) immigration sharing agreement but you can scale through if you are genuinely qualify for the U.S. visa. The psychology is that if you are genuine you should have reapply to Canada and If Canada keeps denying you then USA, UK, Australia and Newzealand will keep suspecting you.

Go through this page very well ( probably from page 1), I am certain you will aquire more how to start info than you are expecting. Yes MBA is okay as per your career but go with STEM-MBA not ordinary MBA. Regarding your sponsor, your blood relative or employer are more trusted than anyone. 👍

2.2 won't determine your admission chances. Your actual GPA (e.g., 2.5, 2.3, etc.) is what matters. Instead of relying on sponsorship, consider taking the GRE (if feasible) to boost your profile. Then, apply to schools offering full funding for Master's and PhD programs in your course. Good luck! Which semester are you targeting?

People that cannot prove tie should remain in their country, its not a do or die otherwise such applicant is heading for visa denial.

Regarding your other questions, getting a residence for a few weeks or even months is not enough for you to proof a tie in a 3rd nation. But having a relative living there, spouse , office, church or mosque affiliate etc in which you can use or have been using their addresses as your mailing address or 2nd home can be regarded as a kind of tie.

Despite the tie proving policies, the U.S embassy or the U.S government always hold international students with high esteem. Ipso facto, prospective F1 visa applicants can look for a date in a 3rd nation in order to meet up with school resumption if there is no visa appointment dates in their countries or if there is political unrest in their community eg (Ukraine, Russia , Istreal, Niger etc). 👍
Hello Man,

If someone is married to a Turkish woman and they have a child who is an American citizen . He recently visited them in Turkey. He presently have a fully funded PhD admission for spring 2026. Can the person attend his F1 visa interveiw in Turkey even if he is there on only visa and no resident permit yet. Do you think the person should attend the interveiw in Nigeria since he doesn't have the resident permit yet but just visit visa.

I am expecting your reply.
Thank you!

Hello,

This is tricky. He is not living in turkey but he can prove ties there.

He lives and work in Nigeria and he can also prove ties.

The question is, which ties is more stronger? hmmm

Sorry I didn't add. He got his master from the US and came to Turkey to visit his family on a visitors' visa and wants to use the opportunity and get his F1 visa for the spring 2026 academic session.

You might want to ask why he didn't transfer his SEVIS to his now new school. Well it's a long story, his SEVIS is complete so he needs to leave the US to avoid overstaying so he decided to visit his family in Turkey.
Thank you.

@Tobi1612 has given us the direction of your question which is " which tie is more stronger ? "
Psychologically, you got your child with your Turkish wife while doing your Msc in the United States. You successfully rounded off your Msc and enrolled for a PhD in which you also got an offer for the Spring 2026.

👆 Well if the above narrative goes well, then you seem to have a clean immigration record with the USCIS (having rounded off Msc successfully and returned). With your present Phd admission and full funding, then I will also tag you a scholar.

YOU.

Thank you.

The only thing which gives your Nigeria ties edge over your Turkey tie is because you dont have a residence in Turkey, other than that, your Turkey tie is also a good tie. Ipso facto , your good immigration record with the USCIS and your current feat as a Phd scholar along with your wife and kid as residents in Turkey will definitely help you at the US embassy overthere.

Go ahead and have the interview but be ready to use your communication skills. You will very possibly be placed on 221g in order to do background checks on your family in Turkey. 👍

Thank you for the response.

He can do his interview in any of the country but he just have to get his words right if all you wrote is as claim.

Also, if he decides to attend the interview in nigeria, he should do it quickly beceasue of the appointment date.

Hi Chomzzy.
Your question needs your original mindset in order to receive an honest answer. Are you planning to use an F1 visa to immigrate to America, or you honestly want to go to school in order to update or upgrade your career ?

Okay, let me deviate from the above narrative. Community college is meant for 3-categories of people (may be more). 1. Younger students who need University preparation experiences. 2. Students with core practical career paths ie technical, bricklaying , plumbing etc which you may not easily find in the Universities, and 3. Adult applicants or professionals (working class) who need tailored program ie " Bank Staff Relationship OR Children's Security" which you may not find in the Universities or not necessarily have to attend University for.

Based on the above, you need to assess your age and your present career or occupation and chose a course of study which aligns with your present work, that is if you are considering a community college.

If you are genuine with the intention to further your course of study then, you can use standardised tests, recommendations, work/volunteer experiences, SOP, etc to springboard your Msc admission success. USA has more than 5,000 Universities, hence you can look into private Universities which also give good fundings and needs foreign students enrollment in order to boost their own reputation.

Note : May be you chose a community college or Harvard University, every Form-I 20 from any U.S. institution is a federal document and it is not automatic for an F1-visa. Your communication and negotiating skills with the consular, genuine intention, proof of ties , following F1-visa application rules & policies , and proof of funds are the major hallmarks that can guarantee your visa, not the kind of ivy league schools you have chosen. 👍

Officially its 2 - days prior to your interview but, if you are in a tight corner, the truth is that its usually updated almost immediately.

After updating , wait for few hours (sometimes you can receive official email to print a new appointment letter immediately) and go back to your portal in order to print a new visa appointment. Once your new DS-160 confirmation number can reflect in your new visa appointment printout then, you are free to attend your interview.

Sorry, I thought you meant DS-160 update. Nevertheless, you still have to submit your DS-160 within the time frame because it must be aligned with your visa appointment letter as i explained above 👆

15 business days or 2 days what are you waiting for ? If your visa interview is not tomorrow go back to your computer now and fill your DS-160 and update immediately. Wait few hours after updating in order to print a new visa appointment letter. Simple as ABC.

Continue with the application, when you get to payment stage it will automatically give you the waiver code option. I dont think you can test the validity until you get to that stage.
