Listening to Arokodare speak and he does with an American twang and it's got me wondering how that's possible with his sojourn from Latvia to Belgium and now England.
It’s identity crisis, growing up some people struggle to find their feet in this world and do stuff to try to belong
In a few years he’d fully become his own man & realize he is African & not American lol
Give it time
It could be new environment too
If you speak with your normal naija street accent you may not communicate effectively to foreigners
Some may not even hear or understand you better

Manchester united scouting teenage flying eagles goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt.
Those who say our grassroots football is not working or stuff like nigerian football is collapsing ate exaggerating. We practically are producing talented players every time.
You said our midfielders are injured. In the last 2 years we have come up with
Dennis in goztepe turkey
Ebenezer akinsanmiro in ousa fc Italy.
Onuche ogbelu in esperance of Tunisia.
Chrisantus uche in crystal palace.
There is still more to come. The injured midfielders might not even affect us if we looked more closely

Starboytwo:
we are just an anyhow kind of people...

Normally, heads suppose to roll for this abysmal world cup qualifications... Rwanda, Lesotho, Zimbabwe in our group and we still ended drawing 5 games. Using 3 different set of coaches... That means the head (nff) is not working well...

To the issue of South Africa. Although I have no single love I can spare for them, but nothing consine them for our matter. Na we just use our hand gift them qualifications...

Even in the grassroots here in Mushin, there's a female u15 competition being hosted and the coach of a certain Nakamura Fc refused blatantly to have his girls play a match at the home ground of an opponent.

It almost turned to chaos, but the man was adamant, reschedule the match for later or no match.. Apparently there was a party on the competition ground (walimot ceremony)

This is what Nff should have done, to cushion the effect of the undue advantage South Africa got in the qualifications. They are largely homebased(no player travels, no jetlag, no tiredness, no leg cramp) still played almost all matches at home...

We must be a mumu giant to have allowed that, without even one objection. As usual we just leave everything to Insha Allah.

Definitely, somebody or an office in the nff didn't cross their T's. Didn't bother to check anything, also no repercussions so far. No head rolling, no query, we move on as usual.

Naija levels sometimes 🤦🤦
.

You have said it all Baba. If you want to know how redundant, pelú bí wón sé lazy tó in dat glass house just stroll to dat nff office on Monday morning around 8am den you will weep for Nigeria's football because it has gone to d dogs.

If I should have my way anybody wey don dey dat glass house since d period of Buba and Sokoto galadima will be thrown inside jail and make sure the mosquito dat feed on their blood is imported from hell with fury.

Make I talk. Sodiq ismail if he plays is better as a winger. The coach who made him to play defence is limiting his potential. The issue is that if he plays for us our coaches will put him as a right back and blame him for conceding goals. In the match he okayes for us anytime he went forward he made an impact. The issue with him is that as a winger he keeps it short and simple (kiss). His accurate crosses is more valuable than dribling 100 times. Just 3 accurate crosses and you have a goal or two. This is his strength as a winger. I am talking from a coaching or tactical point of view and not about where he played or anything else. This is just a logical observation

But he doesnt play for top 5 leagues. plus his name is not Chukwueze or Moses Simon.....

You gerritttt?

On a very serious note, Sodiq is ,more or less a winger with end product. I said this many moons ago when he was being played as a right back. One thing I will always stand by is identity. Who are you and what are you good at? This make shift and so so copy copy of Europe is what is crippling us in Africa, Nigeria especially! Oyinbo people will act as though they are the only ones who can read soccer and modernize it and we are so gullible to swallow it hook line and sinker. They tell us the no 10 is a dying breed and we adjusted accordingly and started huffing balls in the air for a supposed pure no 9. No creativity in the middle. They tell us football is now science of time and space and tell us how to think and we bought it too. They infiltrated our thinking pattern so much that if it isn't from their mouths, it is automatically to be discarded.

Unfortunately also, the media that is supposed to be custodians of truth have also been compromised and now they also end up fanning the embers of western ideologies regarding who to play and how. Each journo also has his own special player in the national team. I know of one jounalist that no matter how bad Moses Simon plays in any match, he will perpetually defend his mediocrity in his tabloid. We are in the era of PR campaigns. The more you pay, the louder our journos make noise about you.

Coming back to the issue of identity, it is glaring to see that we have lost that identity in the national team. Every player is always gonna be either shifted to some uncomfortable position just to accomodate a liability. We sacrifice efficiency for "the good of the team". Now I hear Chukwueze should be drafted as a No 10. Question is this. Can he play that 10 for a sustained period of time? Does he have the intelligence of a 10? Does he even pass the ball? How accurate are his passes? In a nation of 200 million, there is no creative midfielder we can use? or we just don't have time to search for one. Oh I get it! he isn't popular yet and hence has no PR campaign. What we have as players in the current national team is all about a keran ma jele agenda. We dont have a team. All we have a super stars that have good complement of club players and coaching to go with it. No competition as status quo must always be maintained. We look at our players from the lens of what they do in their clubs. Do we play them accordingly? Iwobi plays from the left side of the field for so many years and has been found to be efficient there. But alas, he has to play from the deep where all his passes would have been neutered so they have no effectiveness. Lots to say but the more I type it, the more I get frustrated and angry at our team handlers. On a final thought, Nigeria needs to get back to its own brand of football where talent, discipline, grit and preparation meet to form a great synergy. There is a reason we always refer to the 94 team and its simply because of all the bolded attributes, they have it all. The current Super Eagles team only has talent and social media. O tan!

You see that part in yellow marker? That's the part I've not been able to solve in my head for the past couple years. Maybe I've missed something but I really want to know what goes on in the head of coaching staff during our international outings. I really want to know how difficult it is to play a player according to his strengths and proven track record in a particular position. It's hard sometimes to imagine that we hate ourselves this much to self-sabotage our own efforts with the most insane and ridiculous decisions.

We lack midfielders so Iwobi will continue to play in that position unfortunately for the lad he will continue to bear the burden and cost of our dismal performances!

In addition because we need results badly we don’t have patience for any one else to grow into that play maker role we desire! It will take a brave coach to do something differently

You are funny. Wetin nff wan gain by sabotaging our world cup qualifying chances. I mean I think they will even have more chances to steal money. I mean qualifying for the world cup will get nff some money. I don't know much about football administration in nigeria as in I don't work for nff but that is my opinion. Qualifying for the world cup should be a good opportunity to make money for those officials and even if for selfish reasons, they will want us to qualify
