Cloud Journey Review

I posted this when I started out last year around Sep. And can confidently say I have touched all aspects in one form or the other. Na only kubernetes be the bone inside meat.

If you're just starting out. Find a solid academy or course. Posted a lot on this threads and stick to it for 6 months to a year, make sure you get your AWS certifications (practitioner & Solutions), then reach out to your circle and apply for internships and jobs, attend tech events and make friends. If I had gone for my certification immediately after 3MTT, I would definitely have gone farther than this. Else you'll keep going around in Circles.

And if you know you are the type that can learn fast, Remove limits and try out everything. Go for interviews even if its for jokes. I did that a lot as a UIUX designer and they did call me back after some months but I don move on. Will still do it just to get insights. Foreign employees tend to be more lenient in my own opinion. But you get the point. Don't wait till you're 80% ready to start applying for jobs etc.

Ignore the fun part if sapa is breathing down your neck. Know your stuff and apply like your life depends on it.

Learning tech without/limited backup funding is different. The hunger is different and I recognize that

I'm giving my new laptop away also. This Lenovo T560 has spoiled me. I can't stand all this laptops with 2-4 hours battery. Feels like using an iphone 8 for writing codes. I'm not done and you're already low? sad Eyeing the thinkpad x240, hopefully one that just landed and not the ones they switched the original batteries. I can carry that about.

I like the HP envy's and apple macbook m series but for now, I need strong die hard reliable laptops. No time to be charging shit.
Hello good day boss, hope you're good? I once again appreciate you for that survey update, it's helping pay my little bills. Thank you!

If you don't mind, can you pls recommend a laptop (any brand) with minimium 5-6hrs battery life that can run tech softwares like docker smoothly and maybe have a graphic card for vid editing. Budget is 300k, can stretch to 350k max (will be very hard).

I know my budget is too small for what I'm looking for but pls you know about laptops and can give me good advice. Thank you 🙏

I’m fine thanks. Glad to hear the survey update pays some of your bills.

As for the laptop, Apart from the ones I already mentioned, I can only give you the basics to search for on jiji etc and it would bring out systems within your budget for you.

Core i5-17
128-256 SSD Compulsory
8gb-16gb Ram
Has an internal battery and external battery.
Then check for video memory specs

Those boy’s mostly remove the internal batteries to re-sell so ask well (I know lenovo and dell have systems with 2 batteries, not sure of HP) and buy ones that have not been tampered with.

Thank you very much!

Even if you ask if they tampered with the battery they will say no. I tire for these gadget sellers

There are ways to know. Check online if the model comes with internal battery.

If you see one intact with internal batteries , use AI to help you know how to verify if it’s original.

And the last option, buy and install it in your system, just that it’s expensive. Mine is 40-45k, See why they mostly remove it? The serious ones will tell you the truth when you ask them the price of fake and genuine batteries.

All in all, better to buy from those that import directly and you’ll get solid untampered laptops

that last line is like the cheat code. I'm looking for plug.

All these gadget sellers aren't genuine

Taken courses on deep learning(CNN, RNN, Generative A.I, large language models), I don find remote work tire as A.I engineer, no way. E be like yahoo boys don spoil everything. To think I quit a good job hoping to switch career. I don add data engineering on top.

One more skill is lacking
One more skill is remaining
One more skill to go.

That skill is Connection of your NetWorks

As usual, many of them couldn't contribute meaningfully to the discussion due to their emptiness but will blame politicians for it

How come I did not see C programming language in your journey. If you are into devops and Linux environment, C is vital.

If you have just a system and don't want to dual boot between OS, WSL is a must.

You are very ambitious man.
Your dedication to learning is inspiring.
Learning tech skills that require programming need much perseverance and resources.
Kudos!

I would be detailing my journey into DevOps/Cloud here.

I mentioned I did a AWS cloud practitioner certification a while back in my previous thread https://www.nairaland.com/6930545/2022-experiment-1-becoming-product

Well, a DevOps and Cloud computing scholarship I applied for a while back came through recently. Talk about keeping your options open.

I know it's a long term thing but I'm enjoying the little I have experienced. Guess that coding I've been running from eventually caught up with me. Gone through css , html , python before to a degree so it shouldn't be a problem. Already learning bash scripting.
Css and html can be fully done by chatgpt. Its crazy how learning that now might be a waste of time.

C is not needed, don't throw the guy into tutorial hell

Back in the days I think it should be HNG 4.0 when late Nwonah was the lead instructor for C# I started coding and in fact built functioning webs apps. But I slowed down when I needed to proceed to law school.

Don’t know a part of me always driving me back to tech. I feel I should find my way back to the C# lane.

But my problem is would AI not replace these skills later ? I wish to have a close conversation with you. If you don’t mind kindly share your telegram ID with me. Will contact you.

Thank you sir

You are using the free version and you dont know the inderlying basics of css and html, othereise, you shoukd be able to read the code, fix the problem and use your input to fix it

Chatgpt and all ai are still evolving and the rate the new models are going. Honestly one shouldn't put all his energy.

Although i see people argue that its full of mistake n can't fully code.. This might be from fear its replace them

But in next 1 year from now you be amazed what it could do

It will do basic stuff, and a more specific stuff. Boiler plate stuff. It cannot design a whole ui or logic for your specific need. So na small task by small task till you reach your goal. And in each task, you might need to change stuff

C is preferred for performance-critical tasks or when direct hardware access is needed. Something bash and Python cannot match with it comes to automation.

Linux is built on C and it is well integrated with the command line.

C is essential to learn.

After installing Kali Linux (GUI) on VM or booting up ubuntu server( Pure terminal) on AWS

I learnt how to use SSH to connect to the AWS Ubuntu server on my local host (laptop) using windows powershell.

This was after spending midnight hours troubleshooting how to connect to my github repository with ssh from my VM kali linux. Ordinary github o. Really made a mess of things.

The experience came in handy later as i was able to get access to the AWS server in windows PS, installed my own ubuntu server on VM and accessed it, then did the github own again to be sure I had gotten the process of creating private + public keys and getting access.

Bro, AI is already taking over your career.

what areas do you think ai will not replace? Especially if you want to focus on something now
