The Police Command in Anambra has confirmed the death of one person from the two people rescued in a tragic incident involving the collapse of a two-storey building at Akpaka GRA 33, on Tuesday in Onitsha.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the development in a statement on Friday in Awka.

Ikenga noted that the incident happened at about 9:00 a.m. as two people were rescued.

“Unfortunately, one of the recused victims was confirmed dead on arrival by the doctor on duty, while the other was stabilised and is responding to treatment.

“The remains of the deceased had since been deposited at the hospital for preservation and autopsy.

“Rescue efforts are still ongoing, and the command, in collaboration with emergency agencies, is making efforts to ensure no other persons remain trapped under the debris,” he said.

Ikenga noted that the state Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has extended condolences to the family of the deceased.

Orutugu assured residents of the command’s commitment to ensuring safety while working with relevant agencies to prevent future occurrences.

Besides the personnel involved in the building industries where we have a lot of proliferation of quacks, government agencies saddle with oversight responsibilities in ensuring safety and following build regulations and standards have abandoned their duties and now chasing revenue just like SON, NAFDAC, etc. quality of building materials is a big shit.

SON is presently the most inactive organization In Nigeria. Virtually 70% of what is neen used in the country are substandard.

My neighbor sold his house or should I say partnered with a developer. My eyes are on the building to make sure it is well built since my house is nextdoor. When they finish I will become more religious and pray if it collapes it will not fall. Prayer works. Punch newspaper had an article of a tanker falling catching fire and whipping 35 houses in it's wake according to Punch the fire missed on house which was at a roundabout the fire went behind the house and burnt houses down the street. According to the journalist it was a tire depo, we all know tires love fire...the journalist said everyday they had one hour morning prayers in the building and every Thursday they had fellowship in the building. Me I'm not a religious person at all since I don't go to church and love girls bouncing their big behinds anywhere on the Internet.

The thickness of rod these days make me wonder if those producing it attended maths classes. The rod they will sell at 12 mm when you put calipers you see lesser figures. God save Nigeria from greedy men.
