Canada Wants To Attract Tech Workers Who Won't Get US H-1B Visas by Great100000(op): 7:38am On Sep 28, 2025
As the Canadian government reviews its immigration strategy, it will take into account absorbing this type of talent and will have a "clear offering on that," Carney said.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney wants to attract employees from the technology sector who might have previously worked in the US before President Donald Trump's new visa charges.

"What is clear is that the opportunity to attract people who previously would've got so-called H-1B visas," Carney told reporters in London on Saturday. He added that many of those workers are in the tech sector and willing to move for work.

Trump signed an executive order last week imposing $100,000 fees on new H-1Bs, creating confusion and frustration for companies that rely on the program to bring in global talent in computer programming, engineering and other roles.

As the Canadian government reviews its immigration strategy, it will take into account absorbing this type of talent and will have a "clear offering on that," Carney said.

Germany and the UK are also touting themselves as an alternative destination for skilled workers who are now facing extra hurdles to reach the US.

Canadians are beginning to hate Indians because they are noisy and unwilling to embrace Canadian culture. In fact, Indians are erecting their gigantic religious sculptures around Canada and publicly bathing in Canadian waters - practices that the Canadian government condemns.

Unfortunately, Canada cannot do without India because Indians have the biggest pool of the world's best talents who are willing to relocate to other countries. So, Indians will be the biggest beneficiaries of this program.

The real job is in the US, and let no one deceive you. Everyone in Tech knows that the US is the destination for high reward.

Will you move Amazon, Google, Apple, or Microsoft to Canada or the UK? Lol. The job is still in the US. More exemptions will come because these tech companies find a way around it. And if they don't, the US will likely reverse it.

Don’t worry , the annexation plan is still not over. The 51st state under the US will not have a different immigration law.

americans want tight border..that why trump won. u still want DNC to hold on to open border that caused them the election.

You sit in africa here without any connection to realities in america. Even CNN polls shows high approval rating for Trump immigration conducts.

The next US President is still a republican who can build on trumps achievement and even be more extreme trump.

Don't mind them.

There are simply too many migrants in the country and they should work on absorbing those first, rather than pile in more

That narrative has changed. US cannot compete with China on many fronts and it has affected all their industries.

Say what you know! As a strong IT man let me inform you. All these companies you mentioned and more have real prodution offices, world class research centers and all that in UK cities likes London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Oxford, Cambridge and evn their silicon valley Reading. Many advances in these companies come from other countries, not just the USA. Know fact, Microsoft, Amazon, Oracle, Google and all have wonderful production offices, data centers in UK, especially London bigger and productive more than many American cities. Maybe apart from the likes of San Francisco, New york and few others.

H-1B visas are initiated by companies from the USA. There is nothing like attracting H-1B visas. Canadian companies should invite them and the country will issue them waivers.

Unfortunately, Canada has no such Tech companies with high-paying jobs above what their citizens are paid.

There are no U.S. visa restrictions on those cities and countries you mentioned. The H-1B visas are only a US-based employment scheme for those working in the US. The Data centres, GWatts facilities and Military Advancement facilities are the best in USA

China's productions have no Engineering Standards. Japan and the West have. Even Nigeria has the Standard Organisation of Nigeria for manufacturers. It's buy today, spoil tomorrow. No maintenance can suffice. Those are junk.

I do not understand your reply! My reply is to counter the fact that the companies mentioned are only in the US. It has nothing to do with visa. My reply shows one must not be in the US to work in US tech companies that they have big presence in other countries.

Cash is King.

If you don't understand the immediate paragraph above....good luck. Cho cho cho cho cho!

The right way to put it is that China is a competitor. Who is a competitor? He is the number 2. If your narrative is correct, China will be the leader. China is a copier. Though, I like them. They are good. But the leader is where innovation takes place.

Cash is King. If China and the US bring out the same product at the same time, who will more people patronise? Who will make more profit? Who pays tech guys higher reward? If Chinese sef get the opportunity, they will all leave their nation and migrate to the US. grin

Also, why China dey beef Trump regarding US student visa? Lol. You no wan dem send dem kids there to go learn from the best so they can return and rank Xerox everything like they always do? grin

But I respect them.

The reason Canada is less attractive for professionals is that their employers have little regard for non-Canadian work experience, which has been a big stifle both on the career progress of this class of professionals and on the economic gains that the country has been able to gleen from its years of welcoming immigrants.
