@Kog45... Pls this line by comodo is very important. Coach Aliyu must take note. Fast transitions. Quick turn of defence into attack. Crearting shooting or goal chances in just less than 5 passes. We must not let the opponents reshape properly before we try to laboriously break down and strike... With Outlets like Sani, Maigana and Kparobo we can do it but quickly. Anyone who wins back possession must be quick to send it forward into our runners up top to quickly capitalise on their retreating disorganised rest defence. Once we regain possession from an opponent attack, the outlets must be on the run towards the opponent area immediately and the ball sent forward. Watch the offside trap and if we are inside our own half by chance, it wont be offside... just send it forward and let the boys uptop do the rest. comodo: |

Drawing vs Capeverde to barely scrape through to the WC faceoff vs Ghana. Was that effortless? Rohr did well between 2016 and 2019. His decline began 2020 till 2021. It was right to fire him. zuchyblink: |

Nigerians have become a people who hire an okada rider to pilot a plane, then sit back hoping and praying for a safe flight. |

If we cannot criticise the managers of our football to push them to do better, we will keep assembling average players who go to tournaments only to disgrace us. Norway were poor yesterday, yet we couldn’t beat them because we lack players with the exceptional talent to change games. From the squad list itself, weakness and imbalance were clear. This team is painfully short of real quality, except the goalkeepers. |

This Rohr issue again. Our team declined...we agree, our play was poor...we no argue...we lost to minnows...yes...but.... No one has been able to explain how come we always qualified for tournaments with a game or two to spare. Thru out Rohr time..we no use calculator one day. |

Let's not rewrite history. We were on the edge for the knockout qualifiers for the 2022 world cup. Cape Verde needed a win in Lagos and were dominant even though they had a draw. And this wasn't even the decider for the qualifier itself. Also, "always" is not an appropriate term for something that occured twice. He qualified us for 2 tournaments (World cup 2028 and AFCON 2019). And for the second, the expansion of AFCON to 24 teams made qualification assured in the penultimate match. Qualification would not have been guaranteed with the win over Libya in the penultimate match if the expansion had not happened. Qualifying for the AFCON with a match to spare has also been subsequently done by his successors. Modified: Rohr also qualified us for AFCON 2021 with a game to spare. Recall the last gasp Onuachu header against Benin |

"The decision is coming very late, now we have two difficult games to play. They played Seven games in South Africa, and we did not play a single match at home." Benin Republic Head Coach, Gernot Rohr believes FIFA has taken too long to deliver a verdict on South Africa's points deduction, citing the six months delay. The former Nigerian coach also highlighted the difficulty of his team's task, having played every game away. Thoughts please? |

My grievances are these: why should we be hiring coaches like Chelle, Eguaveon, Ladan Bosso, Aliyu Zubairu, and even Peseiro in our national teams, along with the kind of player selections we have seen in our age-grade football that have made us fail since 2016? There are tested and trusted coaches in Nigeria such as Amuneke (for the U17s or U23), Eguma, Ilechukwu, and Ogumodede (for CHAN and the U23 team), as well as others like Hugo Broos and Conceição for the Super Eagles. The painful part is the selections these coaches make. They are questionable and often look like an attempt to promote certain players, sell them to European teams, and take a percentage from their signing fees. The nepotism, favouritism, and corruption in our football are simply irritating. |

This 3 point deduction for the Southies is exactly what I have been waiting for. They have been effing assured thru out these qualifiers (very unusual). This seed of doubt has been planted at just the right moment. They will surely bottle on of those matches. |

The Search for Naija's next big thing in the CAM role The search for Creative and Ball carrying/ball retaining midfield talents is the reason for calls to see Christantus Uche start centrally for Nigeria, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro called up and Raphael Onyedika finally given his well earned run of games as our #1 CDM. But as we hope for Chelle to take the right steps especially with respect to calls for Akinsanmiro to be blooded in, I must say that my fear for any other emerging Creative midfield talent is the likelihood of them going into Obscurity like Kelechi Nwakali. At the 2023 Wafu B U17 tournament which we won, Ugbade gave us not 1 but 2 bonafide CAM Talents. - Ebube Okere - Ozor Victor Okeke Today, Ebube Okere is nowhere to be found Last I heard of him, he featured for Mavbrooks in the 2024 Lagos Liga in December. Ozor Victor Okeke secured a move to Europe in August 2024 to IF Elfsborg. But since then he has been stuck in Elfsborg U19. He is 19 now. Nothing from the lad as at this point and I hope it changes. Now today again in 2025, we have another one. David Edeh, Captain of the current Golden Eaglets. Obviously very talented CAM. FK specialist too. Let us hope he doesnt find his way into Obscurity too. Our scarcity of midfielders of the Creative Profile at the senior level is worrying. |
