I think our best formation going forward should be 352.
Gk - Nwabali/okoye
Cb- Fredricks,Ekong,Bassey.
The two outside Cb should be people that are agile. Ekong should always be in the centre. Other options are akpohuma,Jordan tournigba, igbo ogbu,Awaziem
Wingbacks - Rwb - Aina, osayi. Lwb - Felix agu, onyemachi. When sanusi is fit,Felix can be moved to the right and osayi dropped. He's not been convincing.
CM - the formation uses two dm who will cover the wings when both Wingbacks push forward to stretch play and constantly put in crosses and cut backs.
Onyedika with any of Onyeka,Ndidi.
AM - given a free role to orchestrate the attack and find the strikers and full backs with penetrative passes. Will also help in the defensive aspect.
Iwobi, Chrisantus uche,Fdb.
Attackers - Lookman and oshimen. Arokodare, moffi, desser as sub.

Players like Moses, chukwueze can be in the squad as options in case we need to change to a 3 attack but they should always start on the bench.
Nathan tella can be played at Rwb instead of osayi

Nwabali
. Fredricks. Ekong. Bassey
Aina. Onyedika. Onyeka. Agu
. Iwobi
. Oshimen. Lookman

Fixing Nigerian Football: The Way Forward

Nigerian football has suffered for too long, not because we lack talent but because we have refused to do the right things. The problems of our national teams are plain to see, from the way coaches are hired to how players are selected. If nothing changes, we will continue to drift. But if we are bold, the Super Eagles, Falcons, and our youth teams can rise again.

The first step is simple: hire competent coaches through transparent processes. Enough of jobs given on sentiment or political influence. Nigeria must appoint coaches who understand modern football and give them full authority to work. Men like Emmanuel Amuneke, Sunday Oliseh, or Samson Siasia (when cleared) have the technical knowledge to shape a new era. We should also be open to capable foreign hands, but under clear contracts with performance benchmarks.

Beyond coaches, Nigeria needs a football philosophy. Spain built theirs on possession, Germany on efficiency, Brazil on flair. What is Nigeria’s? Our game should reflect our natural gifts of pace, dribbling, and creativity, sharpened by tactical discipline. This philosophy must run from the U17 to the Super Eagles.

Player selection also needs reform. The age-cheating culture has destroyed our youth system. With strict screening and honest scouting, we can build teams that truly grow into senior internationals. Nigeria must also end the quota system in selection; positions should be earned on merit, not allocated for political balance. To make this work, we need a multi-level scouting structure that covers the NPFL, grassroots, and diaspora talent. A national U17 league where every state is represented, alongside private academies, will ensure the very best players are unearthed early and given a fair chance.

No national team can thrive without a strong domestic league. The NPFL must be improved with fair officiating, proper sponsorship, and good player welfare. Only then can home-based players compete on merit with those abroad.

Another key is long-term planning. Nigeria must end the fire-brigade approach where preparations begin weeks before tournaments. Coaches should be given at least four years to build, with a clear calendar of friendly matches and camps. Continuity is the backbone of lasting success.

Football administration must also change. The NFF should be run as a professional body, not a political platform. Funds must be accounted for. Technical decisions should be in the hands of professionals, not politicians.

At the base, football must return to schools and grassroots. State academies, principal’s cup competitions, and partnerships with private academies will secure the future. Add to this the use of sports science, fitness monitoring, and video analysis, and Nigeria will finally match the standards of modern football.

Above all, discipline must be restored. Players must show commitment and professionalism; no more special treatment or endless excuses.

Nigeria has the talent, the fans, and the passion. What we lack is structure. If we commit to these solutions, our football will not just recover; it will dominate again.

This is my opinion.

Nigeria 0-2 Ghana First half 30mins on the clock.

After a strong start in the first 10mins, things evened out and Ghana punished our slack defending.

Game on.

To be fair, the officiating has been rubbish.

I feared for this when I saw how CIV escaped BFA. Bad calls favored them. BFA were better.

Now it is repeating against Ghana. Very bad.

Their second goal was from a very dubious call against Salisu. We had possession and he guarded cleanly. Ref turned it over and Ghana used it to score from their next buildup. It is atrocious officiating but the boys should not give up.
